  1. In sub 12 I found BSA pylarms good. 18grn. Have a few in a tin if you want them to try.
  2. This is the first year I have not shot one. We seemed to be short of them this last season. I only use a muzzleloader on them and they usually end up in my meatloaf. I came to the conclusion they headed for places holding more than the average lousy shots!
  3. What amazed me was how slick the action was during shooting. I actually am put off by the 1022 and Brno/cz autos for the cycling pulse during shooting. The Remington 597 was good but they used that dumb magazine with a rimmed case! The marlin I hardly noticed a thing. I never liked the colt 1911 for the same reason!
  4. I nearly bought a magtech years ago new for£100! The marlin has a piece of wood on it though!
  5. I think the 7022 and 702 are the same action Deker. The other angle is when I'm out on my nature walks when I'm watching and photographing birds. Like crows and magpies destroying nests and killing fledglings ( my personal favourite), I need an unslung rifle with good quick shots should something step out on me and surprise me. Excluding do good vegans in non leather sandals of course.
  6. Whilst I am under no illusion that it will be as accurate as the brno it should make for a nice toting rifle. I may scope it but with a little 4x. Or scope it but take it off and just have it on standby. It was certainly reliable. Shorter too. The Brno gets left behind in favour of the 452. This should add some fun, less time loading a clip.
  7. Mrs has a bad back so been up all night. The jack daws around our house were aweful. It was like the Zulus at driftfield! They just kept on coming. The final straw came when one appeared with what looked like a day old pheasant chick in its beak, landed and from no where a magpie landed on the the Jackie's back and they had a good old scrap. Intensive Pro active observations from me eventually restored some peace. This involved me sticking my face out the window in a contorted fashion blowing raspberries at the scoundrels. I did consider mooning at them but got co
  8. Thanks for that. I hate doing it, never have enjoyed it. Sitting in a hedge listening to birds, the fresh air, the peace. Most wretched pass time ......err....job in the world.
  9. So without a licence I shoot to miss then? Where does one get this sodding licence from?
  10. These barley fields next to me....when the pigeon hit them can I shoot them?
  11. They don't starve stav, they can survive on very little. They soon learn to catch bugs.
  12. We use to bump allot of cocks off for that reason and in the good old days shoots crows all the time.
  13. Just a thought if you like a waft of fox on the air to get you excited you could pick your nose after picking a fox up. Keep you going all night that...... ?
  14. It will be very mute away from the gun anyway. It's always worse for the shooter. Most folk would not be able to tell it's a gun from 100yds away.
  15. Nice lettuce, heart shot? They must of eaten everything ! Have you seen any wild chicks?
  16. In all honesty I would try a different powder. Bullseye really is very fast and designed for pistol and revolver length barrels. I never found cast bullets that came lubricated were lubricated with anything useful at all! If that hot bullseye is flame cutting up the side of the bullet your going to struggle to get a group. Allot of folks add a buffer or wad between the bullet base and powder. This can be almost anything but a favourite is cut cardboard from cereal boxes. In your cases you would need a 9.5mm leather punch. Another method is pouring melted candle
  17. It's a good rifle but not interesting enough. Truth is the Bruno is to close to my other rimfire, a cz 452. So I tested a marlin 60 on Friday and I was very impressed. It fed four types of sub sonic ammo and had a nice cycle and although heavy a good trigger break. I will be swapping this weekend and then submitting the paperwork before collection of the marlin. But this afternoon I removed the scope off the Bruno and just used the open sights and Winchester lasers. First rabbit was 61 paces. Next shot was 30 I guess and the third was 71 paces. I was h
  18. What is the load again? My Winchester wasn't to keen with hornady xtp but pretty much any other brand of jacketed or plated bullets it would shoot tighter groups. I didn't use cast. Have tried keeping the barrel cool? I don't know how the Henry locks up but later Winchester 94 actions suffer from a lack of hand finishing the final lock up and it affects accuracy. The fix is simple though.
  19. I took this picture yesterday in my garden. It's a doe getting nesting material. This morning I had the joy of watching pheasant chicks run across my garden. Arnt I lucky! Hell no. I sent countless hours chasing fox's in winter keeping the local population to a sustainable level. Others locally do like wise and I salute them. The crows and magpies have been shot, caught and harased. The chicks I saw this morning is proof positive I am right. Not Packham and I don't need a piece of paper I would not wipe my arse with to make it right. So Mr and Mrs
  20. All my years shooting I have never heard of shooting folk threatening vegans and bunny huggers, not even veggies or the love a crow club members. I have however seen anti blood sports folk brandish clubs and sticks. Damage private property and vehicles. I have also known of a hit and run incident of an innocent motorcyclist during a legal badger cull by activists attempting to disrupt proceedings. I have never seen any anti blood sport activist actually monitoring meadow pipet numbers or skylarks. Oddly though I know several shooting men that notice their numbers rise after inte
  21. ...help us that resent reading legal documents born via individuals with a perverse view of the world and it's wildlife to understand what can be photographed in a state of unconsciousness via perforation and lack of breathing please? Oh, and is my wood pigeon meat loaf off the menu or have I got to use the pigeon in the multi storie now? SD.
