  1. Been out of the country for a month and was looking forward to having a look on the site at what people had been doing. Surprise, surprise same crap. This is a great site until it gets hijacked by all this bickering. if people cant get on why reply to each others posts? if you dont like what your reading then read a different post, theres plenty on here to sift through. Whats the point of rowing over it, neither side can ever really prove their point to the other because its the internet. Why waste your time? it just means everyone else has to suffer reading about it. RANT over, just

Have a read of the catapult thread in the gamekeeping section, loads of useful info there. i use the barnett bands on a homemade frame simply because i cant hit a thing with a black widow but get alot more accuracy with mine
  4. Sorry to hear that. Sounds like he went doing what he loved. RIP SOLO
  5. it wasnt on the lamp, i didnt get a chance with the wedding and all! in fact they only got a quick run on the nearest footpath when we werent busy with the wedding. it might be that they werent used to dogs or something. Either way, i was dead pleased as its done her confidence a world of good. The best bit is that my little sis has just married into a family that own a hill farm up there so if i play my cards right it could become a regular hunting holiday. The place is stunning and absolutely crawling with game! lol yes it is good fun and cracking sport dont be jumping on mine lol

  9. Just come back from 4 days in the yorkshire dales for my little sisters wedding. We took the dogs and they were nailing rabbits left, right and centre on walks, which, i hate to say, is unusual. i have to admit i'd been thinking they werent up to much as they seldom catch in the day at home even though there is no lack of bunnies. Up north it was a whole different ball game, she was making it look easy! Obviously there are alot of different factors involved different cover, steep terrain etc but it just seemed like the rabbits were slower? What are your experiences?
  10. Be VERY careful bringing her back into work especially if shes young. My bitch damaged her shoulder at the beginning of the year and its been a recurring problem ever since. i think its partly because i didnt leave her resting long enough. Good luck with it!
  11. i cant be doing with hanging them and, especially with roadkill at this time of year, its likely to end up rotten. i just take the breast and leg meat and treat it as chicken. Tasty!
  12. i cast my own out of lead in a 10 shot mould. i got it from a french fishing shop online and it makes 10mm approx shot. Also have a mate whos a mechanic who collects all the bearings that he takes out for me. Catapults are a great thing! Just need more time to practice! Had a couple of pheasants last year but still not had a decent chance at a rabbit.
  13. i agree. i think the only people that would be affected by licensing would be the responsible law abiding shooters who are not the problem. The moronic little oiks would carry on as they do now but every now and again one would be nicked which seems to make no difference. A good example is the fiasco following Dunblane, its hardly solved the gun crime issue has it?
  14. I HAD A SIMILAR INJURY TO MY LURCHER BOUNCER WHEN HE WS YOUNG. CAN I ASK DOES YOUR PUP JUMP UP AND DOWN ALOT FOR EXAMPLE BOUNCER WAS JUMPING UP AND DOWN ON THE TOP OF HIS KENNEL TO LOOK IN THE WINDOW. IT WAS THE VET THAT POINTED THIS OUT TO ME AND SAID IT IS COMMONIN FARM COLLIES JUMPING OF THE BACK OF QUADS AND PICK UPS . WHEN I RESTRICTED HIS ACESS TO THE KENNEL TOP AND KEPT HIMON THE LEAD HE RECOVRED WELL AND T HAS NOT RECURRED SINCE AND HE IS TWO AND A HALF OR MORE. A TRIP TO A GREYHOUND VET WOULD ALSO BE WORTH WHILE No, she is totally relaxed at home. its when shes out that it happ
  15. i will try a greyhound vet, we've got a track near here so there must be a vet for them. Anyone know of a good one in Sussex? if not i will give the track a call. She will still run on it but i dont let her. Shes dead keen and is just the kind of dog that would keep on going regardless of the hurt until the excitement wears off and then she acts like the world has ended! i dont think the damage is really severe but as shes so young i'd like to nip it in the bud.
  16. Ok, early this year my bitch Tyla, 11 months at the time, ran into a fence and injured her front left shoulder. According to the vet it was a ligament and he proscribed rest and anti inflammatories. That worked fine and she recovered well. The only problem is that it keeps recurring which makes me think she has done permanent damage. The vet just offers the same treatment but i reckon its just treating the symptoms rather than the cause. its happened several times and she is usually better after a week or so of lead walks but with the season fast approaching im worried she will either spend it
  17. Something with 2 syllables that can be shortened to one. Mine also has a longer version "comeereyoulittleshit" which i find is usually used at full volume as she vanishes over the horizon!
  18. Good going mate. My bitch hasnt done 7 out of 7 and shes 16 mths! You must be chuffed to bits!
  19. never saw this bit til now - youshould have PM'd me! i have one and mymissus has a pup. Cheers

  20. We have three cats, the lurchers, ferrets and even my girlfriends pet rats! They all get on fine and the dogs are fine with all cats, round mates houses etc. if you catch one in the beam though she thinks they're fair game so its light off and hope it f*cks off without scaring all the rabbits.
  21. your fit i take that as a compliment
  22. I shoot a .20 FN19, its an old gun and only single shot but i cant fault it. Must have killed hundreds of head of game over the years
  23. Will do. To be fair i was pretty high up so i could see a wide area but, even so, it felt a bit crowded! Never seen anything like it at home which is good
