i've been working with a kiwi chippy and he has been singing the praises of the place. it sounds incredible, plenty of hunting and fishing, decent lifestyle, plenty of work etc. As someone who is perpetually on the look out for a better place to live its very appealing!
Does anyone have any personal experiences?
Thanks Davy, i am about to redo the paintjob as it is getting a bit battered looking - its surprisingly easy to do. The 3 in 3 was great, wish it was me though! He did it right in front of me too as i hung back with the dog while he stalked in to the bury
i slept last night on my permission in Rye. Had a few rabbits in the evening, my mate got most of the shooting - 3 kills, 3 shots in about 3 mins! Had a bit of a shine later but not much out although we got one and had another go in the morning and a couple more.
Tyla made herself comfy as usual!
i just got in and nailed one of the family of maggies, that im constantly at war with, too. Looks like i put it out of its misery too as it had lost an eye and was infected although that wasnt stopping it hunting for nests in my hedge!
Glad you guys cleared that up for me! i just enjoyed a delicious meal of thai green chilli crayfish with rice. Definately putting the trap out again!
Thanks for all your input!
Hmmm .... dont know what to do now. Any way to definately id them one way or other?
The claws have a slight orange tinge underneath but i wouldnt really describe them as red. The biggest one is about 8" long with body about 2" across.
if its an original FN19 then charging pressure should 180-190 only, otherwise you will get a lot of low power inconsistant shots to start with because the pressure will counteract the valve spring and not release enough air per shot. if it continues leaking after charging then its possible you have grit in the filling valve (common with falcons) this can be blown out by a short sharp blast fromthe bottle sometimes but otherwise means a new valve Best policy is not touse pumps with them as they seem to aggravate the problem. Good luck
A multitool made by leatherman, knife, saw, pliers, scissors, screw drivers etc. An up to date locking swiss army knife really. i had mine 9 years and they are very handy to have around. They are like marmite, some love 'em some hate 'em!
A few weeks ago i sent off my old and knackered Leatherman Wave for a service.
This morning a BRAND NEW wave complete with instructions and leather case arrived!!!!
it came with a letter saying they replaced mine as it was an out of date model. Now, i didnt send off any receipt or warrenty or whatever and only paid a fiver for postage, they have serviced it lots of times before (it has a hard life ) and im always pleased with what they do but this is really outstanding!
Thank you Leatherman
I cant get my head round this comment
Surely seeing as the scope is held at a set postion in relation to the scope, does it not make sence that this position is still the same regardless of standing kneeling or shooting off a rest. I know with springers its not due to the recoil.
if im wrong could someone explain it to me.
The clip on bipod is fitted directly to the barrel, when used with the bipod the barrel will flex slightly so moving the point of impact higher. When the gun is shot without resting on the bipod the barrel will be straight so point of impact will be lower.
The maglite thing has been done before, not a bad solution if you get caught out with a blown bulb or whatever but otherwise why not just buy something made for the job?
You can use a maglite for lamping but would i, no way - i would use a lamp, they were designed for the job and they are good at at it. i certainly wouldnt claim to have invented a new system! People have been gluing/screwing/clamping torches to guns ever since they were invented, you could even use a gunmounted one - they are called lamps and have been readily available for years!!! They have enough battery life, the righ
Lamb castration bands, ask at your local farm store or you could probably get them off the web
i have been told that they are no good because they are designed to perish
They certainly dont last for ever but at £2 for 100 bands its easy to change then as you need to. Only takes a second to roll them on or off. Just try all the methods and decide what suits you
Not all of them, try googling "american airgun hunter". Some of them take it to the extreme, huge foot poundage, large calibres etc but they are taking down feral pigs, deer and coyote so i spose its tools to suit the quarry. There also seems to be alot taking small game too.
Not sure about that particular gun but you want as much power as legally possible to ensure a clean kill (11.5 ft/lbs is ideal) Just remember that your accuracy is equally important, all the power in the world is no use if you cant hit your target! Good luck
A big thank you to pigeonphill for lending me one of his hobs. Still havent caught the missing jill but now have the hob as a lure and traps in place. Fingers crossed
Unfortunately i dont have a hob or even know anyone else with ferrets. Shes been sighted in next doors garden but stillnot got her back. My other half has stuck posters all around the village too. Not sure what else i should be doing. i tried getting to dogs to find her but as i have spent ages stopping them showing any interest in the ferts it wasnt successful
i see you are in sussex i have a couple of hobs if it helps you can use one of mine as also in sussex offers there if you want to try
That would be great if you could, i will PM you details.
Had no success so far, the
