i was stocking upon purse nets and picked up an 18ft gate net on impulse. Thought it might be handy as a stop net. i've never used one, any tips?
Thanks
i agree mate. i used to have a pedigree yellow lab whos primary job was picking up but he was the tall rangy working type and had a good turn of speed on him. Caught and killed two foxes in daytime and used to regularly catch rabbits. i discouraged him as hunting for himself made him a bit wayward for picking up but im sure he could have fathered some good first crosses on the right grew bitch.
Oh, and Badboy2, if you got nothing useful to say then stop typing - theres is enough to read through on here without having to skim through your pointless posts
Thanks for the replies, all useful stuff. im on good terms with my vet (seem to visit him weekly ) so i might ask him to talk me through it. i will also definately try the steristips and super glue method. Cheers
aye, but when its all put to gether whos gonna know, im thinking more for going down woods at night and poping a bunny or two off
it would be fine unless the rozzers pick you up. in that case technically its an illegal firearm. i wouldnt risk it personally but its still an appealing idea!
i think its because if its under a certain overall length then its no longer classed as a rifle so can only legally operate up to 6 ft/lbs. Thats why the TDR wont work without the stock fitted. it would certainly be very useful though, i've always fancied doing it to my ratcatcher.
They are bloody good, i cut the hideous plastic handle off mine and replaced it but im sure it would work just as well if i hadnt. Good carbon steel for me every time!
We seem to own the most accident prone pair of lurchers.
They are constantly cut or injured while working, excersizing or just playing. How many people patch up their own dogs and how would i learn the right way to do it? Before anyone jumps down my throat i am only talking of small injuries, skin tears etc not puncture wounds or anything major.
is there a recommended course on canine first aid for instance?
Any advice gratefully received

Had a quick wander this afternoon, had to use Amy's gun as mine is out of its stock which is having a respray. We just had a walk with no particular plan except to check out the ground cover over some buries. We saw alot of game but the leaves are still too thick for any serious pigeon or squirrel shooting and the cover was still thick over the buries. Ended up with a couple of rabbits and a squirrel and had a good walk in some lovely weather. A very enjoyable couple of hours!
i agree 100% you just cant beat them! Sharp as a razor, easy to sharpen and if you lose one, which i invariably do eventually they are cheap. i buy a handful and keep one in each jacket, the ferreting bag and one in the van.
Just took it out of the airing cupboard where its been for a few days to make sure its not damp.
The bloody thing has now gone mental!!! When i hold it, it makes a constant squealing noise in different pitches that seems to have no bearing on the position of the collar but when my other half holds it the thing is as quiet as a mouse???
i reckon its f*cked and will contact deben now.
Bloody hell How hard can it be to make them properly? it was little gem last season but not worth a w*nk at the moment, still in the airing cupboard while i hope for a miracle!
i've got enough permission to share (as long as you dont take the piss ) but im a bit far from you. Be more than happy to help if you were closer. Good luck!
Because i mostly hunt rabbits! Maybe when the dogs can back it up a hare will be next.
Georgia - thanks but i think my missus would leave me if i got that done!
Batteries are definately the right way round, good point about the damp though. its been in the shed all summer but its not a damp shed and all the other gear in there shows no sign of damp. into the airing cupboard it is then
