  1. You mean the osprey atmos pack like on the left? I use one and can't fault it, just make sure you get the right harness size, try for fit in a shop then shop around online
  2. Good write up mate. I've had a go at it on trips over there and it is exciting stuff, the hills are epic though and the carry out can be tough. Beautiful country and good looking dogs
  3. Fair enough, meat is favourite but I love my veggies too
  4. Nah, BBQ can do more than just meat. I cook over a fire most nights in the summer, I'd get scurvy if I only cooked meat!
  5. Courgettes mate, im drowning in them so i eat them however I can lol
  6. Me and mate had a bit of a camp out last night. Pissed down mostly but we got a good system
  7. Same as all walks of life, there's wanker elements in pretty much everything that spoil it for the rest. Fox shooters, lurcher people, farmers, keepers and pretty much anything else you can think of has its share of them.
  8. Its certainly the most efficient method. Lots of places need foxes controlled whether it be to protect stock, game or wildlife. I dont think banning it would be good for the countryside in general. Without control there would end up being nothing but foxes, badgers, corvids and squirrels.
  9. Am I missing something? Is there something in the pipeline threatening to make fox shooting illegal?
  10. There's plenty of time to be doing it in the winter, you've obviously been on it in the season and got them in check. That's how it should be done in my opinion, everything deserves a chance to breed in peace if at all possible.
  11. As always it's not black and white, if foxes need killing because it's your job or because it affects your livelihood then so be it. Good keepers / fox shooters make an effort to sort out litters if they've killed the vixen which is as it should be. If its an arable farm with no shoot on it to protect then there's no reason to be out killing during the breeding season any more than there is to be running dogs through the summer. As SC said, if you are on it properly over the season the numbers should be under control anyway.
  12. Me either, I had laser surgery years ago and it ruined lamping for me. Before I got the thermal it was pointless going out on my own. The thermal was a game changer
  13. Since I've got the thermal I've been using a led one, cannot anything with it but once it's found with the thermal they are OK to lamp with
  14. I cant argue with that, mine is the only whippet Russell I've seen in the flesh and, although he's done me proud, there could be loads of others ive never seen who are no good at all
  15. I got to say this for you MC Hull, you certainly know how to make a thread go on a lot of pages! As for whippet terrier xs, they will suit some and not others same as all crosses. What's true for one man isn't necessarily for another, what else is there to say? I can't see the need to be arguing in circles myself but I suppose it's livened the site up a bit?
  16. Thats a typo, hes 21" tts. I was told by the breeder the dam was a whippet and I've no reason to doubt him, could've had a dash of greyhound back in her ancestry I suppose same as any whippet. The sire was a digging Russell, I forget the heigh but he wasn't big. For a while I was in touch with the owners of a few of the litter, they all turned out a similar stamp
  17. Having owned a 22" whippet Russell for 13 years with a digging dog as a sire I would disagree. I might have just been lucky though I guess. He turned out great but could've been no good, that's the chance you take with any dog though isn't it?
  18. Sad times mate, RIP Meg
  19. I would expect that they would all be 100% clean and know it because they and all their associates are probably tested daily and certainly before mixing with more of the same ilk
  20. Anyone know of any down south? Sussex ideally
  21. What a good thread. Salukis arent really my thing but there are some lovely dogs on here
  22. Don't think it would last 5 minutes, we were given it when it was barely a day old, still wet, it's never been wild and is totally imprinted on people with no fear of dogs. Best thing would be to find a deer park or petting zoo for it where it can have a bit of animal company and be safe. I wont bring that up til it's becoming a nuisance though, at the minute the wife is totally in love with it and bottle feeding it. Once its trashing the yard and driving her mad I'll make a few suggestions
  23. My Mrs has an abandoned fallow fawn she's raising too. Walkers "rescued" it from where its mother had left it. I've lost my kennels for a bit til it's big enough to put in a stable. Don't think she's thought about what to with it long term but I'm wise enough to keep well out of it unless asked ?
  24. That looks like great hunting. I've been to nz a couple of times and expect to go back sometime. It always struck me that the small game hunting is overlooked because of the pigs. If I was there I think I'd specialise in running the hares with a lurcher and hunting the possums with a bobbery pack like yours. The pig hunting is great fun but hard on the dogs and the back
  25. Fair play if it can. I wouldn't want to try stopping him. The attitude on them in the rut is unreal, they aren't keen to run and would much sooner turn round and smash whatever is bothering them
