  1. Mc what was lads using before saluki blood came into UK? Like I said I've seen with my own eyes juckels doing hare on the fens day after day when I was young lad and most was owned by my family and beleave my lot didn't keep a juckel if it couldn't do the job . And lads like Bill doherty and his dad ,working deerhound xs to all game ? Or are these men full of it ? Give yourself a shake man
  2. Nice pups bud ,how they bred ? I was hoping to take a litter out me bedy grey but she didn't take but hopefully next Yr I get a pup from her .
  3. Me uncul is 94 yr old and he's taken more hares than you had hot meals mush
  4. I've already said i don't run hare dogs and never have but some of me family do but they not the kind to come on here talking about it ,what i was saying when I was young lad I see plenty deerhound lurchers take hare and grews and what I call bitsa bred dogs lurchrr to lurcher bred juckels do the job .anyone who thinks its only sal bred dogs that can take a hare is kidding themselves. Lets face it whippets can and do take them ,I'm not saying these dogs better than sal bred juckels but its a lot of old ball if you think only juckel to take hare is desert dogs
  5. So your saying the only lurchers to take a winter hare are saluki bred ,I grew up around the fens and I karnt remember any of my lot having desert dogs but I can remember most of the juckels they run would take hares daily and be out lamping at night and taking kaneys and working nets ,all these who think its only sal blooded dogs that take a hare surly not been in the game long .
  6. Talking of coursing I had a lad try telling me the only type that can catch a winter hare is a sal blooded dog and when I told him he talks rubbish he got very upset and told me I new f all , I must have been dreaming when me brothers and unculs was taking hares with Deerhound xs and grews and bitsa types with no sal blood in them ,
  7. Why do you keep dropping names ? I no lots of lads doing all kinds but wouldn't dream of chatting about it on here as its none of my f business. And this isn't a dig against you as I'd say it to anyone.
  8. Mc I don't keep coursing types and never have but they have put an end to a few without running over the hills and far away, don't get me wrong I like to see a good dog on a winter hare but my lot just not made for it so I'm more than happy if they put one in the bag from a kick up or in cover .
  9. Id rather a juckel got it in the bag ASAP so f all that running up and down ,give no law and get in the bag thats what a lurcher all about to me
  10. When I was young chavie me unculs had all kinds of lurchers and mostly bitsa bred but all could fill the pot or else they didn't stay long as back then it wasn't about hobby hunting or pest control but feeding the family ,don't remember anyone of them keeping just a hare dog or fox dog , How things have changed
  11. Didn't know Liam and noel had a brother into coursing lol ? I no plenty who had and still keep the type but they wouldn't be to keen on me dropping names
  12. More cwd ,muntjac than rabbits local . Been seeing at least 2/3 most days on our walks along the river early morning but just to many nosey sods about and last time me juckel got behind one she pulled it down in the shallows and I had some do gooder and his wife calling me all the names under the sun .she wasn't slipped on it but it bolted out of cover and once a runner behind something all the calling in the world not going to stop her .

  22. Going to do my bedy grey after work as she don't like the heat ,normally hand strip but think the clippers do her better
  23. Like been said if your only interested in rabbits get a whippet or whippet x as they good rabbit dogs and good family companions and easy to live with . Prices of all types of pups as gone stupid and I don't see it changing back to how it used to be as lots of greedy gets about but they still some good folk out there. if your on fb go on the none ped whippet sites etc and you never no you may find yourself a well bred pup . Good luck ?
