  1. My old whippety dog good at finding kaney nests ,other two don't bother but he's got a thing for knowing where they are , tasty as well but you got to know best time to take them for eating .
  2. All my dogs have taken pheasants and I'd be disappointed if they didn't try snaffling one .more to a lurcher than fur
  3. Its his juckel let the man do as he pleases, few lads have given good honest advice in how to sort this problem and others not so good He should have introduced the pup to old staff on a walk with breeder before he took the poor mite home . Its always tricky bringing a new pup into the fold especially if you got older bitch and pup a bitch as well , muzzle the staff and get them walking together and don't fuss one near the other and make it clear any aggressive behaviour is a no no , if all fails cut your losses and let it go to a good pet /work home as its not about money surely i
  4. Not being funny but like all women she's good at taking your money
  5. Vet see you coming, if the animal isn't seen by vet why the f would they charge you as how can he tell you why she not come into season without seeing the jill first . Need to change vets bud
  6. I was talking to vet yesterday about having hobs snipped and he said he advices clients not to bother as it might make them sick in long run ,he said only safe way is to get them a inplant but this is costly especially if you have several hobs and jill jabs is safest way to go with jills and never herd of one being lost because of jab .once a ferret going down hill it can be over very quickly so his advice was to find a vet who helps local ferret rescue as these vets will have more knowledge than most on ferrets and to get the ferret to them as soon as you see something not right .
  7. Nice pic ,are they dogs you got now or long gone,
  8. Thanks for replying bud ,she's got to be ten now maybe 11 and I've had to deal with ticks several times over the yrs and at first sight I thought it was a tick but its not and I've had ferrets who got abcess on neck before and they fill up and get big and like you say need draining and antibiotics to clear up and so far o have always been able to get them right with antibiotics and keep it clean but this just looks like a bluey spot and so far not getting bigger ,she seems ok and running about as normal. I keep my eye on her and if I see a change I pop her vets , atb mooch
  9. They go from around 3 upwards depending on what you want ,I rather make me own out of starter motor ,I got told you don't get many runs out of a bull x before needing recharge but for keeping dog fit on the park might be ok just costly
  10. Get a bull x lure and have fun keeping him fit and happy ,
  11. If your worried about him hurting himself all the time whats point in even attempting to take him out working ? They lots of stuff out there like barbed wire that rips dogs ,bits of old machinery or tree stumps etc for your dog to run into ,my dogs are like family but they love to work and injurys just part of working dogs life ,of course we all do our best not to have a dog on sick bench but karnt wrap them up in cotton wool ,once behind something they run into gates of hell to get it .
  12. No you didn't cause offence ,maybe you could start by finding inclosed space for him to be let off lead and see if you can get him to come back to you and see what commands he knows as any dog man worth is salt would have give him basic traing like recall etc As for coursing its banned so you don't want to be doing that, if you going rabbiting get him used to ferrets and if he's been a working dog he probably knows what to do and its you lacking knowledge so go out with your buddy once season starts and give him a days ferreting or lamping . Wish you the best
  13. Talking to a fella yesterday while out on a walk who had two bitches by his side that he brought back from his home town in northern Spain, they both out same litter and 9 months old , we swapped numbers as he interested in going out for few runs once season starts ,they really do look like speed machines ,wouldnt mind putting a dog over my bedy grey .
  14. Do you have any pics of dogs you keep now ?
  15. Looks a nice type ,I think someone probably lost the dog while lamping etc. If it belonged to travelling folk I think they would have passed the dog on for coin rather than dump him if he not make the grade .
  16. I would never put anyone down for posting on here and always willing on giving advice and I don't give two hoots if folk work a lurcher or not it just pees me off when rescue owners say dumped by travelers , I wish her all the best with her dog and at least she's looking at trying to work it and yes they some on here who put others down but thats why lot of the good lads no longer post on here
  17. So you don't kill raptors then ? Tie trapped hares by back legs to bring in fox to shoot him . See it with me own two eyes so definitely happens
  18. How do you no it was romani folk that duped the dog ,I ask because every rescue lurcher owner i have talked to says the gypsies dumped it ,I'm a traveler and my people would never dump a dog ,they might pass one on but not dump a juckel ,and [BANNED TEXT] folk say this and that I'm talking about decent English romani who take great pride in there juckels and animals ,plenty of dogs dumped by lots of folk because they didn't make the grade but why do you say it was gypsies .don't get me wrong good and bad in every breed and no doubt some let the side down but not all rescues was gypsy dogs
  19. Got a old jill here thats 10 yr old and while I was feeding her I noticed something blue on her neck so thought it was a tick ,on closer inspection it looks like a spot but bluey in colour and yet to break threw skin ,as any one come across this ,not the best pic but best I could get any advice greatly appreciated folks , Atb mooch
  20. I remember walking along the Rd after day ferreting ,coursing with catch over me shoulder and juckel by me side and no one blink a eye lid or maybe get asked for a rabbit or two by passes by but not so today ,you get called all sorts and boys in blue turn up for a few rabbits ,the world as changed for the worse and like you say folk getting killed over rubbish they stick up there arm or nose and dealers selling death openly on our streets and getting away with it but lads in blue soon turn up to a lad working his dog and harming no one .
  21. I don't think its down to Jill jabs and jills do loose hair in area it was given and don't see how Jill jab could harm them They might have picked up a virus ,they can catch stuff like distemper from dogs and get colds from humans If you keep ferrets and they start to look unwell its best to get them to vets as soon as possible as they go down hill rapid,
  22. Like you have said respect to the man and you can clearly see Joe put the time and effort in from the dog being a pup unlike those that get pups and just expect them to excel with no time put in !!!
  23. Got a nail grinder and soon as its turned on my lot bolt for the door . If a dog don't like getting nails clipped karnt see them liking grinder but you can shape the nails better but that's if you get near them lol
