  1. I know it’s each too there own and if it works for you just keep doing it, but what I found with the SP’s out of the.243 especially at relatively close range is they go in and out ( when the fox is side on ) where as the sako 70gn BT’s I use tend to put a fist size hole in them, saying that I’m using 90gn SP’s at the minute because I can’t get holed of the BT’s and they are doing the job just fine
  2. Have you seen the home office report into the Plymouth shooting, they have called for a full overhaul of firearms licensing, one of the recommendations is to do away with SGC’s and put them as a section 1, as far as I can work out this wouldn’t affect anyone from owning a shotgun but if it was to be under a section 1 could you go and get a 10 shot semi? these people don’t have a clue what they are doing
  3. Like FH I see nothing wrong with putting another into a fox, I’ve seen them bowled over with the HMR and then get up and run ( admittedly only once or twice) likewise I’ve seen them shot with .243 and run a long way, this is why I’m not a fan of using SP’s out of the centrefire on foxes a little story from last night. I’ve had a lad asking to come out with me and inviting me over to him for a while now, I kept fuc*king him off because he’s not really my type of chap, he’s one of these “ I’m out every night of the week, I kill everything, I’m mint, your a dickhead types” anyway he asked me
  4. Only down side to what I do is most of it gets buried or covered in concrete so you don’t get to look at all my hard work ( lol, because there’s still no emojis)
  5. I do enjoy this kind of work, after spending 25 years working on trucks and chemical tankers and not really giving a sh*t it’s now nice to be working for myself and with mates and wanting to do a good job, I was offered another lamppost job yesterday where someone had concreted them in and wondered why they are all leaning now, so I’ll have a look at that P.S. them holes were filled with concrete, not just left like that ?
  6. Last night, spicy, tomato and basil pasta tonight, chicken breast with cream, leek sauce, mash and veg, tasted far better than it looks
  7. Most of what I do is just common sense ( and YouTube videos) but I work with a builder on things like this and he is unbelievable, he did all the oak and rebuilt the sandstone gable ends, a real skill
  8. Another busy week, lamppost installation at a school, 5 in total, we put all the cabling and ducting in and reinstate everything ready for the sparks just to connect, quoted 4 days, got it done in 3 so went and done a car charging point for them today, love working for these lads, just think of a number and double it, they don’t bat an eyelid, the just pay
  9. It’s a rimfire mate, therefore it strikes the rim of the cartridge ?
  10. It’s good money, you can’t give them away up here, they just go for dog food
  11. We have got bloody loads up here a mate of mine is getting a fiver each for them down in Lincolnshire, but they have to take them in 20 at a time
  12. Up at my mates place this evening for an hour or so as he’s got a big hare problem and has asked if I can thin them a bit, he told me that he had counted over 20 just along the small wood that runs along the front of the farm and would I concentrate on them because they can be seen from the road and attract the undesirables now normally I’d of taken the .223 or.243 but with all this talk of HMR recently, I thought I’d give that an outing, there was certainly a good few about and this was just after dark, I took 6 and a rabbit off the front field missing 2 at relatively close range, but m
  13. Busy old week last week, services in, finish off prep for sub floors, prep for base for a summer house ( some summer house, it works out at 10 cube ) after the prep for the sub floors it turns out the people that were meant to be pumping them in can’t get access to the site, so it looks like we will be doing them, at 18 cube mixed on site that won’t be getting done on a day rate off to install lampposts at a school this week so that will give me time to decide how much I want to do the concrete
  14. I don’t like my dinner floating around the plate the Mrs on the other hand puts that much on the roast spuds need armbands
  15. As in, that stuff you put on a dinner ?
  16. Pot roast beef, garlic and thyme roast spuds, homemade yorkie puds, homemade gravy, bit of veg
  17. It was made specifically for the savage arms A17 semi, like you I don’t know what makes it suitable for a semi and all the other ammo not suitable
  18. Yeah, I’ve used that, it’s what my mate used to get when he was keepering the moor near me, it’s expensive, I think it comes in boxes of 200 and are about £100, they say it’s faster and more accurate but I didn’t notice any difference, never seen any split
  19. Creature of habit apparently, that one hasn’t read the script
  20. I use quite a lot of HMR ammo and a couple of years ago I was checking it all and finding a lot split, then the lad in the gun shop said what I bought was new, I continued to check it and didn’t find any split from about 600 rounds, so I stopped checking them, as I said previously I checked what I have now and none split from about 250 Winchester HV’s and just over 100 Hornady
  21. Couple of these, while doing her tea listening to radio 2, there’s worse ways to spend a Saturday evening
