  1. I always find darkness is needed for foxing on a cut field, they seem very aware that there surroundings have changed, I’ve found that a mouse squeak works well on a silage cut ?
  2. Looking forward to this on bbc2 tonight, it’s about time we had a fishing program on normal telly, two of the funniest men on the box, one a life long angler and the other one Bob Mortimer the best thing to come out of Middlesbrough apart from the A66, I hope it brings back some good memories of watching John Wilson and a passion for angling with my dear old dad when I was much younger ?
  3. Go for a full CZ kit for about 500 quid and with the money you save on the tikka a second hand shotgun and a sound mod for that monster.308?
  4. You will never buy a better rim fire than a CZ, but most of us like a bit of bling, that’s why I got the T bolt, I have to admit I would love the tikka but not because it shoots better or it’s better made, just because it’s a tikka and I could say look what I’ve got?
  5. Oh dear, you are not going to see that this year, do you go CZ and til it in when the tikka finally turns up, maybe a second hand .17 as a fill in, ? decisions decisions
  6. Yeah I like it now, I’ve always been a bit old school, it’s only been the last couple of years I’ve moved away from the old light force lamps to the torches, I’m always a bit behind the times
  7. This has really made me smile, I love free range kids, I wish I could get my nephews off the Xbox or whatever it is they are glued to and show them the amazing things you get to show your little girl, there life would be so much better for it ? atb stav
  8. I’m with you on that, most of the time just being there is enough for me ?
  9. I don’t know if anyone else does this but I don’t tend to shoot if they are in the full family group, the reason is you would always shoot the adult first and the cubs stick around for a bit, but if the other adult is there 9 times out of 10 it will be off sharpish taking the cubs with it and then I’ve just educated the rest of them, maybe it’s just me over thinking it
  10. I suppose if fox shooting is your thing and you like the sport of it then you could almost use it like a game shoot, if you kept it quiet from the rescue centre they fix a load of urban’s for you and even drop them off, you couldn’t ask for a better service ?
  11. A friend of mine runs a small shoot near thirsk North Yorkshire, last year and the year before that they were over run with fox and some of them they shot had eyes missing and wonky legs, turns out there’s a wild animal rescue centre near and they were releasing them around his land, needless to say he wasn’t very happy and made a point of telling them what had happened to them, funny he didn’t see many over the winter
  12. It’s a cracking little spot mate, it’s not the biggest but as you will know when rabbits are involved it doesn’t need to be massive a couple has soon turned into a load?
  13. Sad news, I’ve had a word and it would seem I’ve got no chance of getting this land, I tried the “ ive found fox near your pen “ trick and the response was cheers for letting me know I’ll get the shoot lads on to it, on the up side I was offered crow shooting over barley on another bit of land so not all bad
  14. The cub situation seem a little bit odd this year, I’ve not seen one yet seen a few adults on my pheasant shoot but I’ve normally seen the cubs by now, I’ve been round the play areas where they spend the days and there’s no real evidence of family group activity, all I can think is they are a little late with the bad winter or I did such a good job last year there’s nothing left??
  15. Cracking, they seem to be out enjoying the weather ?
  16. Nice one, he looks to be in good nik, was there any cubs in tow, I’m looking forward to my first trip out on the pheasant shoot next week now ?
  17. I’d be over the moon with that, my mrs made me sell my RM 250 slingshot years ago to buy a sofa for our first house It won’t be long before your heart is in your mouth watching him airborne I also had a KX 500 for a bit, but I spent more time falling of that than riding it
  18. Changing the subject completely ive been out working with my mate today ( little fencing job ) this was an old farm that had been bought as a private residence 700 acres it has 2 private woods at about 5 or 6 acres and it’s boundrie is the river tees, my mates brother farms some of the land and he runs a small private game shoot for the owner i would give a kidney for the shooting on here and after a look around I’ve came up with a plan, I found an active fox earth near the river, at some point it’s been a badger set but the Charlie have moved in, it stinks, it’s also only 500 yards
  19. Ha ha, I bet you have had complaints but can’t hear them all the way up there ?
  20. Ha ha, I thought it was because of the size of his legs but you have got me thinking now hes definitely not coming now?
  21. I have to say I love your work, it so different to what you normally see, everything look alive, to me they always look like you have captured a moment from the wild ?
  22. That’s a good buy, they are one of the best bits of kit I’ve bought ?
  23. A sure way for me to get kicked off would be the sight of me in a pair of speedo’s I was going to take longshanx for a walk round but he’s better looking than me so knowing my luck he’ll get to party in the hot tub and I’ll get to sit in the paddock
  24. Oh yes, half of them are now a rabbit and spinach curry, the numbers do seem to be up on last year, hopefully the hard winter we had done them good
