Got a lovely phone call today saying that my farmer mate recommended me for the pest control on a 220 acre farm, mainly corvid and pigeon but a bit of rabbits and fox if I want to but they are no bother, it backs onto a tree plantation that is just one massive roost, I’ve been and had a look today and there should be a few good days to be had here, I’m not sure how I’m going to fit it in but it’s to good to turn down

That’s a fine looking cock. Ooh missus ??

Cracking job, they are moving about on the fresh drilling’s up here, I’ve had a couple of hours myself this afternoon on some wheat that’s just coming through, they on the field in good numbers ?
-
Away again, bloody hell that swinging is taking over you life ?
-
A cracking way to start on the pheasants, well done ?
-
I’m always up for a wander around a new bit, we’ll get out somewhere after the weekend ?
-
I seen that on robs video, smart looking hoodie, he’s a top bloke, the bugger will be getting a phone call tomorrow because he hasn’t sent me one ?, good luck for tonight ?
-
Nice one, you seem to be getting a good collection of land now, once you get the first others always come along ?
-
Cracking job, your night went a lot better than mine, two hours out in the fields nothing to show for my efforts, walked back to the motor and one shot across the road into nextdoors farm, never mind, still nice to be out ?
-
Ha ha, you are spot on, if I told the lad that runs the shoot I do the fox control on I’d left a couple so I had a few to go at later he would go nuts, you will never get rid of them all as others soon move in, why you would treat pest control like managing deer on an estate is beyond me, just shoot the buggers, I don’t think we’ll run out anytime soon ?
-
Nice work, that’s a lot of fox for 500 acres, keep at em?
-
Ha ha, forgive me it was early when I was looking ?
-
Nice work, she’s a big old girl ?
-
Nice work, it’s not very often I use the digital fox caller I much prefer the reed mouth caller, saying that it will be getting an outing in the coming weeks as I still haven’t mastered the fox calling for a mate yet ?
-
Nice work, that looks to be a good size vixen ?
-
I’m sure they know when I’ve got the rifle, if I’m out without it they walk past me and give me a wink ?
-
Had an hour or so at the bunnies tonight with longshankx, good few about but not helped by the full moon lighting us up wherever we went, still better than a night in front of the box

Yeah, a second one with the new .243?? after walk around the far side of the farm and spotting another but not been able to take the shot due to bloody horses I’ve called it a night and will be back for that one another night

Come for a wander around the sheep farm, been here about 40 mins and this young vixen came from around the back of the lambing sheds, I must of walked past it on my way passed the sheds, it was only when I was half way down the field and ran the lamp back up towards the farm that I seen it, only about 70 yards and was making its way slowly towards the hedge back, it didn’t stop to the caller and I didn’t want to shout in case it bolted, so took the shot as it got about 10 yards from the hedge back, a little bit further back than I would of liked, but it dropped on the spot, going to head over

You definitely made up for the fox there, nice work ?
-
I feel your pain ?, I’ve missed some sitters well under 100 yards, it always seems to be in front of someone who I’ve just been bigging myself up to, I really should keep my mouth shut in these situations ?

I too have a browning t bolt and it’s a lovely rifle I also have a cz in .17 and that is a very accurate rifle for not a lot of money, if you want a bit of posh and don’t mind spending a few quid than have a look at the tikka t1x, they couldn’t of made it look and feel more like a centre fire if they tried i put a dpt mod on the cz and I’m very happy with it, its very light and you can break it down to about 8 pieces to clean it, it was £80 so not to bad and it will go on the .22

They seem spot on, they fly nice and flat, the down side is the price, the sako 70g are 35 quid a box, the lighter hornady are almost 10 quid cheaper but the rifle doesn’t like them, so I think once I’ve used the two boxes I’ve got I’ll look for something a bit cheaper to chuck at foxes -

Been up on the shoot and court up with this little pheasant munching vixen 231 yards out mousing in the stubble field, a nice one to take not to far from one of the pens- 9 replies
