I’m sure this was the petrol engines and ended up been a recall to put it right
-
If you were looking for 2012 I’d want to see under 60,000 with good history, I’d be happy if it had done between 8000 and 10000 a year
-
The old 1.9PD engine was the best Diesel engine Audi made, then around 2005 they replace it with the 2.0 and had nothing but bother with the fuel system and a few oil pump failures from what I remember about them, if you were looking at one after 2011 they made a few changes and ive never seen any major engine faults as long as they are descent mileage with good servicing

The ride in the Audi isn’t as soft as the merc if you go s line, it is if you go for the sport pack (SE) but then you miss out on all the nice s line bits, the problem I see with the merc is you would have to buy quite new to get the spec of let’s say an 8 year old Audi

Someone’s got to much money ?

I love them foresters, all you need is a lurcher with his head out the window and head on down to Lincolnshire see how far you get before your first tug off the law ??
-
If you don’t buy German then the only other option is jap ?
-
I should of said the merc’s were quite high mileage and people tend to put the wrong oil in them still thinking it the good old days when you just got petrol oil and diesel oil, starving components of oil, this is the case with all modem engines, we have some stuff that runs on 0/20 now that looks like cooking oil
-
Like it’s been said there’s pro and con for both, the older Audi’s auto box isn’t very good where as the merc auto box is bulletproof, if you are looking at diesel the Audi engine is better than the merc, I’ve done a couple merc’s that have had turbos fail and blown all its oil into the DPF if this happens you can kiss goodbye to about £3000 or invest in a box of matches and a gallon of petrol
-
I would of always said manual but auto box’s have come on leaps and bounds, the down side to auto is cost of repair but the price gap isn’t as big as it used to be as 99% of newer manuals are fitted with duel mass so putting a full clutch kit in one ( including the fly wheel) could be upwards of £1200

Be careful getting your tail out it could get you into bother ?
-
The Passat is nice but a bit basic inside, if you are going down that route I’d go for the A4 avant s line it’s the same car but with a bit more bling ?
-
They are lovely, you would want the r line, it’s pretty much an Audi A6
-
The only problem I know of is the emissions cheat but this was a program written into the ecu, there was a mass recall to remove this and in some models they changed the MAF I think, you can check this with Audi to see if it’s been done, it’s like buying any car at some point it will need a repair, the one thing to look out for with Audi is the front suspension, check for bush and ball joint wear, it’s a bit of a complicated set up and it isn’t cheap to replace parts
-
I would say the Audi is the better engine, ( I can only really comment on diesel because this is what I work on ) merc are also reliable but very expensive when they go wrong, merc make engines for merc where as Audi also includes vw, seat, Skoda so this tends to bring the price of parts down, as for the handling you won’t get better than Audi for 4 wheel drive, I took the wife’s car out a couple of weeks ago and had a bit of a play with an M4, the BMW is a much more powerful car but I left him for dead as he couldn’t cope with corners
-
I’ve had audi’s For years mainly a4’s and love them ( saying that I’ve got a vw at the min but it’s the same thing) the s line are a very nice spec, the wife drives a new s3 and that’s another level to the s line, the newer AMG’s are also very nice merc have moved away from the gray taxi plastic, as for the BMW I’ve had one and really didn’t like it, felt like driving something a long the lines of a mondeo

Keep at it mate, the best bet is small holdings and stables, my mate has just got his first little plot after months of trying, some stables and paddocks, ideal for a bit of bunny bashing and a few woodies, if you keep going something will turn up ? -
Now that’s a proper day out, nice work ?
-
You won’t buy better than nightmaster ?
-
It works well, you don’t need to be to careful with it, it’s more about making them dull, as you said if they are that close they should be dead
-
You can get a flock kit for about £25 they do about 35 decoys if you get the adhesive with the flock in a bag not the spray on flock
