  1. Cracking mate, keep at them, did she get round to asking the others around her if you can get on there land
  2. This is very interesting for me, there should be set guidelines that all forces stick to, when I was after my first CF I was looking at .223 predominantly for fox with the odd deer, I was advised that .243 was a better option, as .223 was not a suitable deer round, I didn’t know this at the time, I was not aware that some forces don’t consider this to be a fox round, for me a fox shot with a 58g .243 at range goes nowhere
  3. He was still granted it but was advised not for fox, a lot of forces have the opinion that the 17hmr is not a suitable fox round but my FAO is not of this opinion if it’s used in the correct situation, he still says the hornet is more suited and you can’t argue with that
  4. Yes, I remember when I went in for FAC and was told ( off the record ) they wanted to see rimfire first and a bit of rifle experience, also I know a few people that don’t have open tickets and also restricted tickets you never see this information, I know someone who went for a 6.5 creedmoor as a general rifle and when he said he would be shooting fox with it they weren’t to happy about that and recommend he used his .243
  5. There’s a few there that don’t seem to be preforming well at all, luckily for me I’m in Cleveland who have always been on the ball, my last variation took 48 hours, my mate falls into North Yorkshire and they are very slow
  6. It’s the same around here all jacks with the odd carrion, my mate was talking to the farmer and mentioned the ladder trap that he has on his spot I had to give him the death eyes to make him shut up trying to mess our days out up, idiot?
  7. That’s good going mate, are you noticing fewer about now or do they just keep coming
  8. You may find that the glasses work as you will shoot the shotgun with both eyes open, you might find at the clay ground when you explain about your vision that they will try a pair of safety glasses with a bit of sparky tape on one to see where you can see? as you know I shoot lefty and my main shotgun is left but I also have a couple of right handed ( don’t ask ) you can take one of each with you to try out if you want to ?
  9. They did the same with us yesterday, 150 or so lifted so that’s where we set up expecting them to come back in numbers but it was just twos and threes crossing, made for some testing shots but the farmer doesn’t want to hear I had a good days practice for the game season you should get them cardboard cutouts, model yourself on Jon Pertwee you could make a killing ?
  10. We were just pushing them in the cracks today, on the up side they will be able to combine through the night not having to worry to much about the moisture content so I’ll have plenty to go at
  11. My god, you live the life? yes I confess my mate got me a shooting lesson for my birthday because in his words I’m sh*t with a shotgun ?
  12. It’s serious mate, you could build bridges over some of them cracks
  13. I’ve just checked the weather for the next two weeks and it’s just going to get hotter, might be time to start putting your pants in the fridge for when you get up in the morning ?
  14. Send it this way mate, we need it, when I got there today I was expecting to find my mate in his pants doing a rain dance in the middle of the field ?
  15. Try thimbleby clay ground, it’s just down the road from us, book a lesson they will set you on the right track, you can use there guns, you can even take a couple of mine to have a go with if you want to, the more you get to play with the more chance you have of finding what fits you best ( don’t tell the missus, but Northallerton shooting do finance ?)
  16. It’s mental mate, the little corn flies got to much for me once the sun was out I felt like I had fleas, all the ground is like this, we are in desperate need of some rain
  17. A couple of hours on the crows, 46 shot 14 picked as the keep out of my f*cking barely rule still stands?
  18. Lovely job, the crows will keep for another day ?
  19. Thanks for that, it makes perfect sense, on the odd occasion I get to go hare shooting I use a 35g 5’s and when you hit them you stop them, this was the last young one I shot with the shotgun using a mini mag and although it’s only small it did run on a bit
  20. I with you on that, been from Yorkshire I’m about 50% tea ?
  21. U. Can I pick your brains, not being much of a shot gun shooter I’ve always used heavier shells for fox, I tend to use 40g 3’s mini mags or 50g BB Winnie’s, is there any benefit using a lighter load or does it just come down to pattern, if this is a stupid question tell me I’m an idiot ?
  22. I subbie for catterick barracks working with the mobiles ( transport) and these young lads and lasses know how to graft, all it takes is for someone higher up the chain to say this is what needs doing and it gets done
  23. Lovely job, and back in time to put your feet up and have a beer ?
  24. That just sounds like some bullsh*t the RSPB would come out with
