  1. Ok, I've just knocked off the sharp long drops on my bathroom ceiling aertex in preparation for skimming smooth and noticed an awful lot of the paint seems loose and pretty easy to peel. I really don't know it this is some sort of bathroom paint or silk type emulsion, but I get the impression that it was never applied properly from new, either still damp aertex or no sealer/mist coat or probably both! Will PVA (even a couple of well thinned coats) solve this, or is there another sealer that I will need, or do I have to spend days trying to get the paint off? C
  2. http://22lrreloader.com/ Certainly attempts have been made to reload .22lr, but not sure they are very consistent/effective, and not sure you can get these kits in UK. Anyway, what happened about ammo in Ireland?
  3. I've tried loads in the past but almost always stick to PPU 150g SP now, I am fortunate that they work in my rifle and give me about 1", that does for me and not much argues with a 150g .308 delivered that close. I've used the Nosler 150 Ballistic tips in the past and they fly well, but I just don't need them! SP always my preference for deer! And yeah, .308 a bit heavy for fox, back in the day before AOLQ, I had all sorts of a battle getting my .308 conditioned for fox, to heavy duty was their excuse! I have never gone out looking for fox with a .308, but every now and again t
  4. Why would anyone worry, the Government has been trying to get rid of rabbits forever and we are still legally obliged to control them.
  5. The rest must be pretty awful then!
  6. You made a statement...………… A zoom will hold it's aim if it's 1st focal plane. implying a SFP scope doesn't, not true, it holds its aim point 100% if you just dial it in! Its all very well regurgitating all the books you read but that isn't real life and very often isn't what its like in the field! To deal with some of your subsequent comments. It is well known FFP scopes reticles can obscure the target/quarry at high mag, so that doesn't make anything easier! You don't need to dial, but can't see the target.....what use is that? Fixed scopes have their uses, they also have re
  7. You dial it in so no problem! Didn't you get to that page in your book yet? Alternatively use it at a set magnification, just like a fixed scope, no problems there either. If you want to adjust the magnification without dialing then you will have to adjust aim, but you still have the advantage of the same size reticle, unlike FFP where you have some log in the lens you have to look round to find the target.
  8. Cheers... doesn't help me though! Who knows?!
  9. The pics would suggest that is a video, do you have a link to it please, I can't tell anything from those pics, perhaps some movement would help. Cheers
  10. I think I mistook some of the barrel fixing for stock, this one seems to fit right back!
  11. As far as you like without touching the stock, top pic is no good!
  12. Each to their own, I shoot in all sorts of environments at all sorts of quarry, and every one of my scopes is zoom. They work for me and do the job. I don't dispute the fact that money for money the fixed will probably have the edge, but I need the versatility a zoom gives me, and despite the fact mine are not all the finest quality money can buy, I have never had to refuse a shot because of the scope! Zoom outsell fixed mag scopes by miles, and there is a much bigger choice as well, there is a reason for that! ATB! PS I don't like your reticle either, posts too big
  13. You're probably right, but the guns work so I have no need to change them and don't often get them all out together to take a new pic!
  14. There you go, the P8 Compacts, the P8 still sells well but the Evolution is making a mark, not as good all round I understand but should be just fine on a .223. Your views on it after a while would be appreciated!
  15. As some of you know I am Secretary of a small friendly Fullbore Club at Bisley and our members have had some success. We already have one member who has shot for Team GB for several years and enjoyed good results in the European and World Championships. Following his session at 1000 yards over the weekend, we now have a second member who has just been invited to train with Team GB over the winter. This is excellent news all round but particularly when I tell you he is just 10 years old! He first shot with my club 2 years ago at the age of 8, we had to get special permission and the NRA
  16. I have a P8 Compact on my .223, .243 and .308. They are still quite bulky but work pretty well, and as walshie says, they are easy to strip/clean. Parts are also easy to obtain so you can change the baffle stack to another caliber if required, etc.,
  17. Any zoom will hold its point of aim unless its cheap and nasty or faulty, it doesn't need to be FFP.
  18. Consistency of shot and flight path was another issue I recall now, never seemed to put 2 shots in the same place, and a wicked arc. Never found them very useful at all, I think that's partly why I got a FAC air rifle, much more consistent and better arc. Anyway, its a long time since I've used any so they may have improved, your longer term report will be interesting!
  19. What/where is the rat source, the Pest controllers should be able to sort the issue and/or identify where they are coming from. If there was a natural Rat repellant that actually worked the Pest Control industry would be out of work. Cats have their uses but will seldom be able to solve an issue, just bring some control.
  20. I have used a lot over the years from the cheapest/smallest ebay offering to large and expensive. I really haven't noticed any particular trend reference the traps effectiveness, more like sighting and baits. Just the same the cheap ones tend to get destroyed pretty quick by the fox, so cheap certainly doesn't mean a cash saving over better!
  21. I think I worded that badly, I am well aware dogs can/do get Fox mange, the part I wasn't sure about is the fact, Vets suggest it is harder to treat.
  22. 33's a decent night anywhere.
  23. Good going...and "loads" is a term I commonly hear, generally with the rabbits ..its like watership down.....never seem to be there when I turn up!
  24. Hi I am offering satisfaction to all hot women in the Berkshire area, I have a friend who can help if required, clean and discrete with references if needed, and you don't need to pay me, please get in touch to discuss your requirements thanks Deker
