  1. I have just finished a Pigeon, Pest Control job on a school site in conjunction with another Pest Control company, they specialise in netting. Job finish was a cull, other guy had an early Wildcat, my word, how the PCP market has changed/improved since my Falcon of 20 years back, just the same, he didn't shoot any more than me and paid about 3 times the price for the gun!!! I have to say my Falcon is reaching end of life, and even though I have just acquired a FAC Theoben Rapid, best part of 20 years old as well, I really need to look at the new breed of PCP. Can't help cringing
  2. That's interesting, weight wise they sit between the Air Arms Field and Bisley Magnum I use in my FAC. I run around 25-26 ft lb and find the Magnum a tiny bit heavy, so these may be good. Are they still available please?
  3. Air, all the rimfires and shotgun, don't have any flintlocks or Hushpower! I find the Kania works well to!
  4. Now there's a thing, all those years back when I first got a shotgun I was told I must use snapcaps, I was never impressed, then I got some expensive metal jobs (I thought the cheap plastic ones were the problem).........then I found it was Snap Caps that were the problem!
  5. I was about to say the same, all of a sudden squirrels everywhere!
  6. Tikka .223 always used to be available in 1-8 or 1-12 twist, mine is 1-8 and does fire a good range of bullet weight well, but I run mine almost exclusively with 55g, either V-Max or SP, most generally the PRVI SP. Works for me, but you will need to try ammo to see what works best in your barrel and on your quarry!
  7. You seem pretty keen, but are also darting about all over the place with threads about this shooting malarky. It would be a mistake to look at a DSC or a paid stalk as a route to your first FAC with an Open ticket!
  8. Flippin 'ek WILF, I think its time to put this to bed!!!
  9. Anyway, back to the topic, nothing to stop him applying for everything on the list as long as he can show why, if/when asked! I wouldn't suggest running out and buying all of them day one if granted just the same. Start with a .22LR and decide where you want to go after that!
  10. I hear what you say, BUT!!!! FAC AIR (a decent one) will cost a lot to buy, at least twice (maybe 3x) the price of a .22lr. Ammo for a .22LR is available from circa 30-200ft lb, which gives it much more versatility that FAC air. FAC Air, particularly higher powers, needs a lot of Air, so you need bottles and refills, and FAC AIR Bullets, and some slugs are not that cheap. I totally agree that FAC Air can be/is more accurate than some of the ammo available and workable in a .22LR, but only in the newer/better/more expensive FAC Air. Hence why I have Air, FAC Air, .22Lr, HMR, WMR et
  11. You certainly have a wider selection than me right now! I've probably got about 10-12 different types of .22LR, and a handful of shotshells and Longs, that it for me!
  12. Ok, so they are still about then...... have you used the .22 shotshells at all? They have their uses, but not many, or very often!!
  13. Insulate Britain has apologised for "causing disruption" to roads around London over the past several weeks A spokesman said the group "profoundly" apologised after Prime Minister Boris Johnson labelled protesters "irresponsible crusties" So..are they going to stop?????
  14. One post and thats it...looks like we will never know!!!
  15. 8 years old thread, no point starting it off again!!!!!
  16. Can't comment on shogun loading. Rifle reloads will (almost) always be better than factory as you can tailor them exactly to your gun/barrel and needs. Materials and setup costs (and practice) will set you back a bit, but if you shoot to any extent, the costs will start to pay dividends in the long run, as long as you don't factor in your labour time!!! Many reloaders are never happy either, its in the nature to keep tinkering, that can lead to loads of ongoing time, successes and failures, and that all costs of course!
  17. It's been quiet round my way, wasps are not my main area (but always useful), numbers certainly down on last year for me though!
  18. Why is it that people always want to keep things a secret, but let someone else spread the word, even when it has apparently eaten all his livestock?? Usual nonsense!
  19. I've come to this late, possibly because I got caught up with one of these protests a few days back. I was so far back in the queue I thought it was a nasty accident causing the problem. Whichever way you want to look at it this is not the way to make a point on win friends, if I had known the problem I would have lent a hand to move the selfish idiots, how on earth do they think they make a point delaying/annoying so many drivers. My views on these protesters is unprintable!!!!!!!
  20. I've got a Rapid 7 MK11 in .22 FAC I'm looking after for someone, big onboard bottle and 2 large mags. Fair/good condition, any ideas on price for that, I know he'll be looking to sell when he gets his life back together!? Cheers
  21. There are a large variety of pellets and QUALITY of pellet. Some pellets are well made and pretty consistent, whilst some suffer from wide manufacturing tolerances. There are also many shapes and weights and sizes of pellets, and I don't simply mean .177 or 22 etc, I mean the variations within each standard calibre size, such as 5.5, 5.51, 5.52 etc. All this has an effect, so of course does your guns barrel, and we go back to the old adage, you need to try a few to see which works best in your gun for YOUR USE!!! Just because someone says X Y or Z is the best pellet, it may not be for yo
  22. I suspect most would be low, 11.95 is a virtually impossible figure to guarantee, there are far to many variables of pellet, atmospherics, temperatures, elevation etc etc.
  23. So would I, and frankly with the shorts and longs as well (even the .22lr quiets). I have a few longs about somewhere, (and a few shot shells, that's a different story but something you can't do with FAC Air), but I can't actually remember the last time I saw any caps or shorts for the .22....can you still buy them???
  24. "There's nothing wrong with FAC air. I'd argue it's as good as .22LR and HMR on small vermin such as rabbits, grounded birds and rats............................... I just don't see the need for FAC Air + .22LR + HMR. Any one of those, will perform the same function as the others on vermin" ?????????????? why do you think all those sell, if they all perform the SAME function as the others on vermin! And who suggested there was something wrong with FAC Air?? They all serve a purpose, they are tools in the box, but to suggest they perform the same function is misguided! FAC Air
