  1. Ok ..eventually bit the bullet and bought one...not for the .22LR, that always did seem a goodun, but for the new Silhouette in HMR....this trigger is nowhere near as good as the .22LR Silhouette I have. Anyway..ordered it from the States direct on Saturday night...yep 5 days ago....arrived first thing this morning...$15 total including delivery (£8.32)!!! Now then...I'm going to be trying several of the tubes and springs but I am curious to know what you have settled on tube wise and spring wise???? Cheers Deker
  2. new action needs bedding in. could be the cases deker as there very thinck on the privi ammo. so what you think of the tikka then mate ? a little write up on it when you have shoot it more would be good to hear I already have the Tikka T3 Lite in .223 so hoping this will perform as well...let you know more as time progresses! Still waiting for the mod for this one...it's the new threaded Hunter with the shorter barrel, out last night with it...it's f*****g loud and the flame out the front of it was incredible in the dark!!!
  3. Just a quick one which so many do forget and I was reminded of yesterday when out with my lad... Hands, arms, face...bare skin.... it stands out a mile....my lad was wearing all the kit yesterday and as dusk approached he almost dissapeared into the background of hedgerows, but he had his sleeves rolled up and it was almost uncanny how much his arms and face stood out!!!! Not so much of a problem for us as we had been using the centrefires so were taking quarry at long distances BUT, at Air Rifle ranges consider very carefully covering ALL your bare skin!!!
  4. If you are a RFD and doing this all day then consider them...but for most mere mortals a look down the barrel, a close range starting zero shot and you will be almost there. You will have to check by live firng anyway with laser boresights, so unless you have loads of money I see little use...IMHO
  5. Any ideas/suggestions welcome......the Tikka is brand new ...so is this ammo, tried 4 rounds before I managed to get the bolt closed on the 5th round, and still very tight. Fired that and ejected fine...but what's this all about!
  6. Shouldn't be a problem down the barrel as it is far stronger than the lead shot but I know of people who have a seperate rimmy for the shotshells only...also.. don't use the stuff with a moderator fitted to the rifle!
  7. Strangely enough took my lad out this afternoon as he was desperate for a few more pigeons with my 391 after he knocked down some on Bodmin Moor last weekend! Also got a couple of boxes of 6.5 which I was given a few weeks ago...don't think I've ever seen, let alone fired 6.5 before but after using all but 12 of them today my lad did pretty well!!! Once again the birds were all high and fast so I would not be happy with anything much lighter than this!!
  8. Is the barrel threaded for a moderator please guys and if so what is the thread. Cheers Deker
  9. All above is sound but to add a bit...... If you have been asked to control the vermin problem by someone who has the legal rights to ask you and you are the legal owner of a shotgun, you do not legally have to inform ANYONE you will be shooting there. Now.... look at is sensibly and you will probably think it might be a good idea the inform the police and get a URN from them and have a chat with; or do your best not to annoy the neighbours.
  10. Flippen 'ek SS How close are these pigeons, lots of lead in a 9 but runs out of steam very quickly!! Great for Skeet but never considered it for pigeon! 6 or 7 for pigeon my way, usually high and fast round here, but I still take them out on a regular basis with 5's (certainly not my first choice but often have a 5 loaded when one flies over)
  11. I first noticed the new Deben Bipods at the Game Fair..Deben do a limited range at the moment but time will tell, if they really are simply rebranded Harris then good deal, Harris are good but anyone can see someone is making a lot of money from them!!!
  12. Terry Robb is a bit of a mad professor type but trust me he really does know his stuff...not necessarily the easiest guy to get on with but he can make ANY rifle sing!! He sells rifles but is a tuning expert not rifle salesman...a very useful guy to know.. http://www.trobb.f9.co.uk/

    holiday

04.00am...that's a serious lie in for Davy...he had me round his place at 03.15 a week or two back!!!
  14. I'd recon that says it all...it never really goes away..you just learn to control it...if the adrenaline stops pumping when you see quarry its time to consider another "sport", still happens to me sometimes...up comes a target and the heart starts pumping...chill out...think of Margater Thatcher ( err ..or something like that!)
  15. If it has the weight of the .22 it will also have the trajectory of the .22 not the .177
  16. I'll take it in cash please...don't want any funny cheques
  17. Good Pic John. Although I recommend you don't pics of yourself in future He can put up as many as he likes...all I ever see has Brasil written on it
  18. Cambridge is my home town...my cousin still lives in Ely, problem is I'm 130 miles away...never shot in Cambridgeshire... so a shame!! Hares there as well!!
  19. As you said, I think you knew the answer before you asked...but it will depend on the circumstances, the seriousness and the FEO in your part of the country! Got to be worth a try though!
  20. I'll have 5p on it with you it's a S10...good shooting whatever!
  21. Ok guys we all know a lot of Air Rifle mods end up on the rimmy. Well...I just got the brand new CZ Silhouette in HMR and was persuaded by a certain RFD that the Hog Mod was the business...I pointed out that it clearly said for Air Rifle ONLY and got the response you would expect...so ...ok give it a try then!! Actually did quite a good job of Sound Suppression and then I took a look at it...the accoustic wadding was being blown away from the edges into the bullet path...serious problem, and after just 6-8 shots......straight back for a refund. So a word to the wise....it says Air
  22. foxkiller1968...chap....it was in every shooting magazine I can think of and is listed on the Game seasons of the BASC, CA, BDS etc etc as well as the Game seasons listed on this very site.. THL! Cheers
  23. deker, i tested some Magtech in my cz & at 25yards in an indoor range bench resting on a bipod, i was getting 1.5" groupings, for me there definately a no go... but eley are through the same hole, literally.... ill stick to eley.. No arguement that Eley are better and I have heard comments like this about Magtech before. Don't know if you used old stuff or what, but my "shooting" lad can half inch group these at 50 yards outside, and the first and only time my non shooting lad tried my .22LR he managed a 1.5 inch group at 60 yards with the Magtech! (off the bipod, CZ Silhouette,
  24. BRAKEDOWN: action and barrel seperated. full gun bit obvious good luck mate cheers for that.i know it was obvious, but what i am saying could you put a full gun in a safe that says broke down ,ie in length. You are talking most specifically shot guns that take apart relatively easily..the answer to your question above is NO!
