  1. I thought that semi auto's were restricted to now more than three shots - or is the law different in Ireland Is there a way of owning a larger capacity semi in the UK? In England and Wales it is simple, 2+1 end of, on a SGC. As many as the tube will hold if you get the shotgun on a FAC! ...and any gun chambered for 3" should hold 2 in the tube as well as the 1 up the hole!
  2. Silhouette now available in HMR and the Style very soon if not already!!! Unless you are of Olympic standard there is little shooting/accuracy difference in any CZ HMR! The difference is in feel, grip, convenience and weight when you carry it!
  3. Yeh...he did do a bit of his in fairness but then it was....."Dad, I really need to get home, sorry to have to run off and leave you with everything to do".....usual thing....that's what Dads are for!!!
  4. Just taking a pause from cleaning 2 semi auto shotguns and 2 centrefires! Left early today as my lad wanted some practise with the new shotgun, went to the NCSC and let go 3 rounds of sheet, by which time he was not only enjoying it big style but getting the eye in as well (and doing his best to bankrupt me) ....how about one more round Dad, so off we go again!!! Time for a brief pause and over to the shop for some more cartridges, my pocket now lighter by 4 rounds of skeet and £163 for cartridges.....about time for lunch isn't it Dad?! Off to the L&M for a sensibly priced who
  5. Take a look here..plenty to choose from..!!! http://www.guntrader.co.uk/OldSearch/
  6. Unfortunately that is the point I was making...there is nothing wrong with the .222, it is actually a very useful calibre, but we live in an economic capitalistic society which is steadily shunning the .222! Shame!! But this leaves us realistically with only one answer today if someone says should I get a .222 or .223!! Re-loading could change this but it is an area many don't want to get involved with!! Hey ho, nothing is forever!! Remember.. Film cameras, VCR's, music cassettes, etc etc!!! ...spangles, jubbly, no, I don't either, my Dad told me about them!!!
  7. What do you want to use it for primarily and do you have any preference over Semi Auto, O/U, SBS, Pump, etc?? Do you want new or used??
  8. At Bisley tomorrow on Century 500 yards, expecting sub 1 inch groups with the Tikka .243! Also looking forward to the naked blonde walking around the butts...but if all else fails I''ll get me one of those sharpe pencils like Remmy uses!!!
  9. It's the new CZ Silhouette in HMR with 20inch barrel (available in 16inch barrel as well), I already have the CZ Silhouette in .22LR and very happy with it. Nothing wrong with the gun...just me and confidence...it is a budget package, JSR 4-16x44 Mill dot Target scope, Sirocco Mod, and sweet as a nut...all in including a slip, sling and extra magazine under £400...excellent VFM! ( I did push hard on the deal) Oh yes....the trigger was s**t compared to the .22LR (original trigger) so went direct to Eric Brooks and bought the trigger upgrade, £8.32 delivered!!
  10. What a comedian...you should have been on the stage!!!
  11. QUOTE (Deker @ Sep 20 2008, 05:17 PM) .I know ...should have bought a Remington not a Tikka!! Awkward previous converstaions to one side Deker, but do you really regret buying a Tikka over a Remmy? Regards,Sprags!! Not for one minute...just helps to wind up Remmy Don't get me wrong, it was a very close run thing with the latest purchase between the Remington SPS Stainless and the Tikka T3 Hunter! I would go as far as to say it was the distributor who got one first! I am on the lookout for a .308, but I do not have the use for it that I do for my .223 and .
  12. Out today checking the zero yet again...seems it only needed one click right...I think....quite still today but this time I was at 115 yards and the best group I could get was around 30mm (1.25 inches)...down to the occasional gust of wind...f**k me this is hard work getting this spot on!!! I know it may seem strange to many but I am simply not comfortable with it yet, the confidence is not there, even though it is very close, I do not have the belief in it yet to grab it out of the cabinet, go shooting and know it will do what I want!!
  13. Hi Igray88 Like for like there is not a lot of difference..if you can find the .222! .223 offers a LOT more choice, is much more readily available and being a derivative of the military 5.56mm there are also some very cheap brands about, such as Barnaul FMJ at £13.95 per 100 and Wolf HP at £18 per 100...MUCH cheaper than even HMR!!!!.......you will not find deals like that on .222...like I say, shame really as .222 is a good calibre, but is all but dead and buried!!!...Wait for the flack after that comment!!!
  14. If you are looking to spend around £1000 on a package I personally suggest Rapid 7 MkII Weihrauch HW100 AA 410 in that order Scope..whatever suits you...unless you want to get silly you can buy any of these guns and a reasonable scope for your £1000! There are those that will say HW100 is the best you can buy at the moment, have to say I still think the Rapid just edges it! Target wise .177 is the norm and is also useful for hunting, but if it's hunting first I would go .22! There are those that swear by .20 saying it is the best of both worlds, nearly as fast as .
  15. ANY land is good land...there are many still struggling top find anywhere to shoot....my first bit of land was around 12 acres and I didn't stop jumping up and down with joy for days!!! Couldn't believe my luck!! Looks great anyway!
  16. Hi Remmy Where do you buy those sharpened pencils to make the "bullet" holes...they are really good and very believable!!! I'm back on with the .243, when you going to put some of these girlie .243 home loads in the post so I can give them a try! Out zeroing mine again today at 100 yards...still only a handful of rounds through it.....and my group was not that tight........I know ...should have bought a Remington not a Tikka!!
  17. Specifically it's a... .222 Remington Its also a .223 Remington Remington no longer chamber ANYTHING in .222....tell you anything????? The .222 is a good calibre, as is the Hornet etc etc... but we live in the real world!!!!
  18. Eh - Up, Ere we go, calm down and steady on everyone.......I admit and accept it is not the best gun in the world....I knew this when I bought it,,,but is has spacers to adjust the butt drop/cast and 3 additional spacers to adjust the length of pull...on top of this it is multi choke, (5 supplied) 3" Magnum and under £300 brand new!!!! The gun is my lads, he has grown up and learnt on my collection of Berettas over the years, but this is all black, stylish and the sort of thing that young lads fancy...and he chose it. It was accepted, discussed and agreed by all up front, that this wa
  19. Everything you shoot yourself will always be better than anything you get from game dealer, but deer in February are usually at about their worst for eating!!...still good though!!!
  20. Sounds fun, good on you all, and 8 foxes is a special night for anyone!!
  21. Edgar Posted Sep 13 2008, 06:30 PM .25 caliber might be good for close range ratting. 2 very good responses IMHO...if you are looking for a DEDICATED ratting tool the .25 is for you!!
  22. That's good going, rats are very twitchy and nervous and can be a lot harder to take than many people think...they can also be a bit quick!!
  23. My suspicions are that it was the choke at fault, when that started to fail and disintegrate the pressure mounted on the barrel.....but it was proofed (apparently going back to proof house for report)...so I am after more info/compensation/apology...this may go on for a while!!
  24. I have never let go with one and would love to try it as well...yep... close as most of us will get to a cannon!!
