For £300 you can get a new Springer or used PCP, personally I would suggest you stay away from Co2, best plan is still to get down to as many RFD's as you can and see/feel a few....good luck, and don't rush into anything!!!

Any good engineering supplier..let your fingers do the walking ..around the web on your keyboard!!

Can't talk from personal experience because I don't have one, but Mr L has....and he has had nothing but grief with the scope and customer service, after seeing all his problems I would never go near one, but perhaps he has just been unlucky...someone always is!!! PS...... he has f****d off to the States at the moment to try and do some dodgy deals on some new scopes for him and hopefully me....NOT MTC!! The Simmons Whitetail Classic 3.5-10x50 is a brilliant scope for the money, shop around as they can be had new these days for £130...cost £210 for about 8 years!

Simple weighted spinners...always best to keep it simple...good shooting too!!

Can't help thinking you should buy a pcp after reading that!!!

Knives become seriously personal and what one likes another hates (even for the same job)...if it works for you and you like it then crack on...for me the hooked knives are a pain in the butt, never found them any use for anything from squirrel to deer..but if you get on with them great!!!
-
I know exactly how you feel as I'm in the same boat with my Shar-Pei puppy and they sure do keep you busy.. OK.... if it isn't a Labrador or Springer I can tend to get a bit lost with dogs...so what is that, how big does it get and what on earth do you do with it???

Winchester subs and Ruger 77/22
Deker replied to cyclonebri1's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Cheers Guys, pretty much what I found, but someone said they now come out of a different factory and are more consistant, will try out all three again Any advice on the Ruger query? If you can find any try a box of Magtech 40g HP Subs as well, cheapest of the lot and plenty accurate enough for field work! -
There is NO max, there are only guidelines, it is down to what each region decides and each individual can justify. I am a professional and use a lot ...simple as... 1000 buy, 1200 hold...same with several of my other calibres including my .223!! In addition to my personal FAC, I am also Secretary of a rifle Club at Bisley and FAC holder for the club ... .22LR .22WMR .223Rem .243Win .303 7.62/.308 7mm Rem Mag ALL with 5000 buy and hold...not total...each!!!! We have a big cabinet at the armoury!! It's what you can justify!!

Winchesters good too but @ £28, 100 round here I thought they were taking the ****! Just got 500 Hornady for £100, I wanted 1000 but RFD only had the 500 so I got the 1000 rate!!..Stilll far too much!!!

Took my lad out today for a stalk....he was late unfortunately and in the end it was 18.00 before we got to the land...Roe Doe, Doe, Doe, Doe etc etc etc...13 in total and then a buck..... who saw me and did a runner...role on I November!!!!!

Deker replied to Deker's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Ok ...I think I have worked out what you mean ..but please do not mention Litts...they have stuffed me for several hundred quid!!! Sportsman!!!! -
Stubby...I have heard this so many times from so many people and they find it such a chore they tend not to do it.....by all means phone the police EVERY time you go BUT...get your URN which lasts for 3 months minimum..often 6, and tell the police you will be there day and night any time dring this period..problem solved, with one phone call!!

http://cz452.com/ $15 delivered...that was £8.32 when I got mine a few weeks ago!

Zero it straight away and clean it properly and regularly to start with. The barrel will need sensible cleaning, as almost all the ammo is copper coated and fast (compared with a .22LR)..so barrel breaking in will happen, but not quite like a centrefire. I know lots of people rate boresnakes but they are not a magical cleaning solution, a proper bore clean will always do a better job! It is all a matter of degrees though...if you want to, then go mad and do a REALLY good job, but general good housekeeping is really all you need!! PS Think that is what I sad about the 20g, Reming

BEST in my CZ Silhouette is Eley Subs, but I use almost exclusively Magtech 40g HP as they are very good and about half the price...and I use a lot!!! CCI was also very good but hard to chamber. However, as has already been said, try a few, all barrels are different..even from the same manufacturer!!

Guys...I am know that I am in the minority here but I do, and always have left ALL my guns in the slip in the cabinet! It is however, very important, as everyone has said, to make sure gun and slip are perfectly dry before you do this. If I am out on a damp night the slip is dried for at least 24 hours before going back on the gun. I have never had any problems but you most certainly will if you do not keep everything perfectly dry!!

Domed pellets are the most accurate you can buy...pointed pellets of any make are not accurate in comparison...target shooters NEVER use pointed pellets...I wonder why???? Also consider what someone else has already said...if you do hit anything with them, pointed pellets can sometimes go straight through therefore wasting energy by not imparting it all into the quarry.. So it doesn't really stack up all that well for pointed!! Ask yourself why you want a pointed pellet, get some to try by all means, a good idea, but I suspect after using them you will change!!

im not sure the box just says "hawke sport mounts lightweight aluminium" any ideas? That sounds like your problem then...not trying to be funny but "toytown" http://www.deben.com/optics/mounts/hawke/sports_mounts.php Try these... http://www.deben.com/optics/mounts/hawke/match_mounts.php ..and your problems will go away!!

Reallity check.... 90 yards means 60-70 if you are lucky...put a red filter on it and it will go down to 20-30 probably. You may well say 30 odd yards is ok...well it might be if every bunny is 30 yards away but what about scanning around to find the ones 100-200 or more away and then stalking them..not a chance with this. Also remember there are plenty of nights when there is more than enough moonlight to shoot 20-30 yards easily without any lamp. The lamps that sit on your scope do not weigh much...probably less than this unit...the weight is in the battery pack which you carry

This is difficult and along the lines that others have said already........ ...it cannot be done for under £100 for a new gun, you must have some respect when you shoot at live targets..this means consistancy and accuracy!!!!! Possibly consider a used gun, but in honesty I would have to say save up some more money, it will be a good investment in the long term!
-
Which Hawke mounts?? Some are toytown ..others are really quite good, if you have a decent set they will not slip..promise!!
-
...and just in case there is still any confusion... Lamping at night with an unsilenced shotgun is TOTALLY LEGAL..... ...but you may well p*** off the neighbours, get the Environmental Health down on you for the noise and lose your permission!!
