  1. Keep looking by all means, BUT make sure you look after this landowner and do a good job for him..if you do the word is likely to get round and finding permission may get easier..but trust me, if you screw up here word WILL get around!! ATB
  2. You must have had some very bad scopes..I have the AGS 4-16x56 SWAT and whilst I am happy enough with it I find it difficult to believe it's 2.5 times better than anything!!
  3. Not specifically used the Airmax but changing scopes is very personal and any dealer will let you have a look through one first anyway!! But you would probably have to spend a LOT more to notice any much difference!!!
  4. Long way to go yet as SS has already said...the cheque is cashed BEFORE they do anything generally!!
  5. If it's the .22LR and you intend to use subs then almost anything you like..the SAK is as good as any and better than most! If it is the HMR, then God knows...if you find a good one let me know because I'm still looking!!!
  6. It may be in the wrong place but a cracking day out by the sound of things!!
  7. "South Coast" it says....how come I have all the Herring Gulls and you have the pigeons????
  8. First blood with his new shotgun ...so it could have been a lot worse than a Pheasant...but he hates pigeon and wanted one of them...no pleasing some is there!!
  9. We wonder off topic a bit here but I totally agree the SLR was great and worked, and Radway Green (BAE Systems) also make/made very good 7.62 ammo...the SA80 is crap and could only ever get better..but Radway Green 5.56 ammo is crap as well....word is they want out of small arms munitions manufacturing...it shows!!!
  10. Out with my lad this afternoon with his new shotgun after a few pigeons...the skies were empty, just a few crows and then...... a Pheasant flew 20 yards to the right of us...not far though before it hit the deck again, after taking a full load of 6!! Flippen ek these youngsters are quick...but he did have a good teacher!!
  11. Very interesting to see....... but I am always surprised at someone rating a springer over a PCP...each to their own of course but my pcp runs rings round my springer for consistancy and accuracy!!! Simply no contest for me!!!
  12. Another one bites the dust.... Who cleans your kit.....that Bipods foot looks right in the wound!! Is that Tikka T3 Lite stainless new or have I just missed it before..is it the Predator on the end??
  13. You are one up on me there, only ever held one, never fired one!!!
  14. As you'll see from the above quote I pointed this out a year ago but nobody took any notice If we in the hunting fraternity misunderstand the requirements of 'the act' then we can't complain when our opponents do so too and we then suffer consequences! Crow ...MODS --- this heading is incorrect.....you need to remove the LEGAL Requirement bit, and it's not just rabbit...there is NO legal requirement to have written permission for ANY quarry....it's just like a contract..there is no requirement to have a written contract, verbal is just as binding..but harder to prove!
  15. Good going..and they look fat as well..or is it just the winter coat coming through and bulking them out???
  16. Despite the fact Muntjac are classed as vermin, they are also coverd by the 1991 Deer Act and subsequent amendments. It is 100% legal to shoot them with a shotgun but you must use AAA or larger shot! Anything smaller is illegal! No requirement for a slug but if you have one to hand...fine!! But a rifle is still the tool of choice!! PS This does not simply apply to Muntjac...ALL deer!
  17. The semi autos are for fun..when you can make them work..the CZ's are not going to win any awards in the styling department but are probably the best of a bad bunch. The 10-22 is a joke in my view, but if I was in the market for a semi that would still be the one I would chose...but I'm not...stick with a bolt!!
  18. If you are looking for the whole kit..lamp, battery pack, charger etc then you are in the area of the Deben Mini/Max Pro...make sure you get a dimmer switch control....you will not a get a lightforce with all the kit for £100!!
  19. I agree will.f11, i've had mine for at least 15 years and in that time it's done thousands of rabbits. Mind you the blades not as big as it was. Looks like we have hit on something here..the Opinel is often overlooked as it appears cheap and simple and ordinary..fact is IT IS..but it is also much underated by everyone, except the owners, well worth a try!! ....and it does hold an edge much better than you would expect!!
  20. Hi Dwighet....You can't legally use lead shot on a duck even if it lands in your back garden!! But you can legally shoot it with a rifle with a lead bullet...funny old world!!! (England & Wales)
  21. BASC Read up on the Gamekeeper membership requirements..it is cheaper than normal and gives better benefits..including a free ticket to the Game Fair and an additional magazine....could well be more of you qualify for this type of membership than you think. But there are plenty cheaper if you are just looking for some sort of shooting insurance!!
  22. Shot in the dark 10-22 or CZ....or ANSCHUTZ! The NV looks a bit like the Trident...or COBRA! but what do I know ..probably wrong on all counts.....I'll get my coat!!
  23. I have one piece of land owned by a great country lass, 86 years old and she hates the Canada Geese, which she gets loads of..but every time I turn up there are loads on the land next door but NEVER on hers!! Ain't that just the way!!!
  24. Written permission, Legal Requirement hunting in England and Wales Guys..written permission is great and definately adviseable but the above is incorrect...IT IS NOT A LEGAL REQUIREMENT!!!!
