mach 2s are pointless a 22lr will do everything it will do plus its in subsonic if you want something with a flatter trajectory and a sonic boom get a hmr It's called IRONY (or taking the p**s)...and you forgot about the WMR!!!!
-
just goes to show how popular that .17 Mach 2 is....you all forgot to mention that earlier shame on you!!!

Lets get this out of the way right up front....I am a "Professional" and run a lot of different tools and have an Open certificate...a .22LR is NOT my first choice fox rifle but it most certainly has a place and gets used very effectively for this purpose as required. My FAC specifically states FOX next to my .22LR...etc etc!!! There has been, and will continue to be a lot of debate as to wether FOX comes under the heading Vermin (until someone screws up or simply has the balls to challenge the definition in the courts)!!! SO....Question>>>>>> DO you have FOX sp

Guys I do not understand this, I see no logic in it, and all being equal I see no way it can be correct ..hence why I started this thread and I'm still waiting for someone to explain the physics! Until then I remain unconvinced!!! On a PCP the heavier the pellet the greater the ft/lb On a springer the lighter the pellet the greater the ft/lb What is this all about and where has it come from...this is news to me and is being banded around as reality. How and why????...can someone please explain! Cheers Pellet suitability, PCP...Springer Options Track this topic

AAA are the legal Minimum you can use on deer in England and Wales!

I have already suggested a number of you have got to understand the difference between control and sport. BUT>>>>Before you go getting all riotous about preserving rabbits for the future you should make yourselves aware of this.... http://www.naturalengland.org.uk/publicati...ife/WML-GO2.pdf

it says - the .17hmr rifle, sound mod, and ammo, shall be used on land deemed suitable by the chief officer of police for the area where the land is situated and over which the land owner has permission to shoot (that may explain it but i'm so concerned that i stick to the law etc and dont loose the fac) just need it explaining in basic terms! I think that answers the question, your FAC is not Open and your back garden would have to be cleared by the police...Probably best to forget the garden...
-
Two things...the technicalities of shooting in your garden are one thing, but what does your FAC say about where and what you can shoot?!
-
I have been around a while and know a lot of people in all sorts of the shooting sport....I do not own a 410 but know owners of the 410, Rapid 7 Mk1 & 11 and the HW100 (as well as many others) and have shot them all. The Rapid is still my Number One...Mk11 The HW100 is a Better gun than the 410 for sure, but there is no way I could lugg this around the fields for hours, it is excellent, easy, light to the touch, easy to charge and accurate...Unfortunately it is overengineered german technology in my view and too heavy, so in second place I have to put the 410!! You will not go

Need a good .22 Semi Auto.
Deker replied to harvey-the-lab's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
You simply have to accept there are NO good ones. A Semi is always going to cause problems...they do in shotguns as well! The 10-22 is arguably as good as any, as long as you find the right ammo and maintain/clean the gun well! The CZ 511 is meant to be better, but not many about...and it is a f*****g ugly brute!! -
There is always good and bad...until recently I had a MUCH higher opinion of Edgar Bros than GMK but events with a certain shotgun over the last few weeks have more than soured this view. The Remington is ok though and on the whole a good gun and good value, I don't have any, but I would still consider one (actually I'm looking for a 700SPS in .308) even though I am not at all happy with Mr Edgar at the moment!

The formula to calculate ft lb is.... speed (feet per second) x speed x weight (g) of pellet, divided by 450240. But this does not explain the statement in my original post!!
-
....a heavier pellet carries its energy better than a light one...that's why I would like someone to tell me where the opening statement has come from and what it is based on!! Cheers I don't understand this, but IF it is true then someone can explain it....any offers???

What calibres and what use do you have...are there any conditions??
-
The logic suggests you should be right but the physics actually says the heavier pellet carries it's energy better then the lighter pellet (like for like conditions)!!! This I why I don't understand the statements above (and nodoby has explained) why heavy or light are better in springers or PCP...it make no sense..but then again, how Father Chrisrtmas gets down the chimney is also a mystery to me!!

I use Eley Wasp Blue in my old "real" .22 12ft lb and Air Arms Field almost exclusively now in my 26ft lb FAC Falcon. The Daystate MK111 lives in the cabinet..I lost the key...and f**k knows why I got it anyway...make me an offer..it is the special with the rosewood etc!! Mail order tends to be expensive because of the weight: I am fortunate enough to travel a bit in the course of my shooting and ALWAYS make a point of dropping into new gun shops...so usually find what I want without much trouble. Trouble with "shooting" is it can be a real problem to get what you want!!
-
It's all about terminology...you have to accept that theoretically both have 12ft lb at the muzzle! The .22 hits harder only in so much as it make a bigger hole and therefore does more material damage, the .177 hitting in the same place may penetrate further as it is smaller..and indeed may pass right through...it is all about pellet placement, damage caused and energy transfer. Bottom line is the .22 is still the favourite "hunting" air rifle calibre and I wouldn't use anything else, but the .177 camp are not all wrong..they do have their uses. If truth be know one of each would be

Decoys or Sweetcorn...and don't give up if it doesn't work day one...perseverance!!

jaime g ...you are being very generous..it is GMK..it is SAKO/Tikka...expect nothing but delays, lies and bullshit!! 2 years back I was quoted 3 weeks delivery on my .223 Tikka by GMK, after nearly 5 months of bullshit and lies I told them TODAY or f**k off and I'll buy a Remington!!! 3 days later I had my gun...it is sad to say but where GMK is concerned believe NOTHING you hear and only half what you see!!
-
For "game/vermin control you only need 1 piece of land (but the more the better obviously)..consider joining a club as well, apart from the experience you may also meet some "useful" people!!
-
Ok....I am keeping a low profile on this...I have a friend who works on a small commercial site on the farm and owned by the same farmer!! I am getting most of my information from him at the moment and the bottom line is that an autopsy has proved "inconclusive". I obviously assume this means a bullet was not found, fueling the possibility of a crossbow bolt and therefore poaching/children/idiots whatever!!! So far, no news is good news and I have had no calls to stop shooting there so far! I actually got a little brave and was on site last night (took Mr L), the first time I have g

A .22LR is a common move from air rifle, a CZ452 will cost around £250-£300, about half the price of a AA410!!!...and you don't need a bottle !!!

This subject always gets very personal and the only real answer is to get what you are comfortable with, not what anyone else uses. I personally like "light" rifles and medium scopes, 3-12x44 on my .22LR and 4-16x44 on my HMR and WMR. The majority of the time I run them on 6x, even out to 200 yards, but sometimes crank it up to 8x. Target shooting on the range at 200 yards I may just go to 10 or 12 on an exceptional day!! Even on a good day with a decent Bipod at 16-18-20 or more you will get shake! I tend to use the bigger magnification to simply scan the horizon and then go for a
