  1. Harris are without doubt better made and finished, consider also the Deben range, etc. Bottom line is if you look after it the Rockmount will probably serve you well. Check out Harris prices at http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/ If you can run to it I strongly suggest Harris....taking springs out etc is a personal thing, don't rush into anything, work it out for yourself. I have 2 different size Harris, one the legs spring out, and the other the legs spring closed, I don't have an issue with either, it is easy to open/close either quietly
  2. As said..it is not a "problem" as such, BUT it will not give you as good a sound reduction !!
  3. Shotguns point in different directions as has been noted by SS.....a DTL gun shoots different to a Game Gun, which it turn has dramatic differences to a skeet gun, etc...we need to establish exactly the sort of gun used, chokes fitted or cut, distances etc before any sensible statement can be made as to where to aim Perhaps the simple answer is "spend some time on a Pattern Plate"
  4. Let them dry naturally and thoroughly. All being well they will probably work but may still fizzle a bit. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THEM WET!! I'm curious...how would you "just get rid of them"?? Cheers
  5. Might also be worth being a little humble and grateful for being able to turn up from nowhere and and advertise your wares on a respected and well established site!
  6. Help me out the clever ones who have done it and made a fine job of it. I have a CZ American .22WMR, a very fine piece of Walnut which the previous owner has more than let go, hence why I got it for such a good price. It is lacquered/varnished at the moment and needs a rub down for sure to get rid of scratches! Questions. Would you simply rub down and re varnish....what about the checkering in these circumstances??? Would you use a "paint stripper"...and again, if so how would you clear all the checkering?? What varnish/lacquer would you use to re-finish it and just how
  7. If the Police feel you were involved in an illegal activity like Badger digging they need proof, but when the the Police are looking into one they normaly find another your air rifle, when they seized your air rifle did they also take the pellets that you use in it, as this can help if they keep the rifle under 12ftlb, as the Police normaly test fire 5 different types of pellet for chronograph from their own stock + the pellets they would seize. Rule of thumb always check your rifle with a Chrono, they can be bought for as little as £30 from Gunmart ads or your local RFD, it will give you pea
  8. Deker I bought a few boxes of this copper ammo about 2 years ago from my local gunshop when i picked up my new cz varmint. as you stated , i have only seen the LEAD coloured bullet over the last couple of years , so i can only assume that the bloke in the gunshop was selling off his old stock , John Cheers..that makes sense, the current Lead stock always shot well in my CZ .22lr but chambered really tight so I stopped using it a couple of years back!
  9. If you are out in the field a lot then the Hunter would be my choice every time, MUCH lighter than the varmint and just as accurate, but then, I like lightweight guns as I spend a lot of time in the field! All my certrefires (.223, .243, .308) have light barrels and also get used for target shooting at Bisley on a regular basis, no problem at all unless you go in for rapid fire!!!!
  10. 6 months is not uncommon in Wiltshire and Thames Valley Regions! It takes Thames Valley a month just to change your address when you move or renew your certificate when the ammo is full!!
  11. If you have the land then I see no reason not to apply for both as several have said, and then decide which to buy first in due course. They are different, one is not better than the other, they both have a use. If this is your first application I suspect you will be very fortunate to get either granted for FOX, many firearms regions will simply not entertain rimfire for fox!
  12. I think someone should start another poll, you are the only person I have ever heard of who likes the HM2...it doesn't have all the properties of the HMR, it is much slower, much less powerful and doesn't fly as flat..but it makes just as much noise...
  13. Ok thanks, would it stop me being granted a FAC. i wouldn't of thought so as some members on here claim to have all sorts of convictions and have successfully got their fac good luck :thumbs-up: Thank you mate If you only have fairly minor motoring offences it is unlikely to effect a FAC application, some of the more serious motoring offences such as Dangerous driving, anything to do with drink, etc will! What will effect your chances of getting a FAC is if you do not disclose these offences...THEY CHECK!!!
  14. Me too mate . Although i've never tried the normal lead coloured bullet from cci i did try a few boxes of the copper coloured variety . They were absolutely dreadful . They sprayed all over the place. I ended up p/xing the remaing few box's for the winchester subs , John Help me out chap...how old is this ammo stock??? CCI currently ONLY make a 40g .22lr LEAD HP Subsonic (not Copper coated) and it is only available in 100 boxes, not 50. Been that way since at least 2006!!
  15. Am I getting mixed up...CCI .22lr SUBS are LEAD 40g HP and NOT copper coated!!! yer i have tried CCI but they never seemed to want to eject properly from ym gun for some reason, but they were pretty fast. Chap...most manufacturers SUB SONIC leave the barrel within about 10-20ft sec of each other. They all try and get as close to the speed of sound as they can but stay just underneath it. I don't understand what you are talking about, there are plenty of HIGH VELOCITY .22lr rounds, most of which are inherently inaccurate!!
  16. are 222 rounds pricey?? What do you mean your .223 is conditioned for roe deer?? I think he means that 223 is legal for roe in scotland but not england so he must have to have it as a condition on his license as he's not in Scotland. DunK Correct, I have the same condition
  17. very nice. how much did they set you back? It's rude to talk money, it was a challenge and a labour of love for which I am very grateful!! Commercially they would be very expensive! Aluminiun Brass Stainless and Bronze (I think..I really should remember!) The black plastic one is a genuine Falcon job!!! The other side......
  18. I have the same Falcon with the Skeleton stock. Build quality is not the best, it's a nightmare to line up the magazine/probe engagement, and the barrel is as flexible as a bass guitar string......BUT I love it, and I can't believe how straight it shoots!!! ...and just look what a VERY Clever man made for me......
  19. Never easy is it..always something to overcome, good session though and a good result. I'm sure everyone had a good time I was over Chertsey way myself last night on another new site and had to use the Air Rifle, I'm getting used to it all over again, coincidentally I ended up with 9 bunnies as well. Was just moving on to another site to hopefully ambush the deer when the rains came...Game over!!!! Second time yesterday I got soaked in pursuit of quarry!! PS.... just in case their is any confusion I had the .243 with me for the deer!!
  20. If you are in Scotland the choice is wider on deer calibres. My .223 is conditioned for deer (Roe) in Scotland and is a first class fox round as well. Lots of ammo of all sorts to chose from and almost sensible prices. I suspect others will still say 22-250 or .243, and why not, both are perfectly capable and everyone will have their own view. .222 is also very capable but unless you intend to reload I would suggest you stay away!
  21. Plenty of foxes usually...one was screaming its head off when we were talking to the police!!!
  22. Just a quick point...remember the P8 COMPACT...I started life with a P8 and then found the compact version, smaller lighter, no difference in sound reduction (certainly up to .308 anyway) and therefore better balance as well....just the same price as the normal unit though!! This transforms the gun over the original full size version which looks a monster in comparison!
  23. I'm sure there are better mods but each of my centrefires; .223, .243 and .308 has a P8 COMPACT on it! Does for me!
  24. I take it the Beretta is a shotgun not a .303" calibre rifle ? . . . . . Ric Model number 303, its a semi auto shotgun..or if you prefer the politically correct current title...a self loading shotgun!!
  25. If what you say is correct you do not stand a cat in hells chance of seeing the rifle again, you are also looking at a firearms offense which is far from good for any future prospects. If you were in my firearms region you may well get locked up, you would certainly have a BIG fine and criminal record. The police attitude is considerably different throughout the country, keep your fingers crossed and do plenty of grovelling!
