  1. My region would not entertain .308 for "fox control" until last years ACPO ruling which basically said "if you have the calibre for Deer and bump into a fox you can use it...EVEN IF Fox is not listed on your FAC". Mine is listed for fox and deer but I can't envisage a situation I would take out the .308 specifically to hunt Charlie! .223 or .243 certainly come to hand first! The grant of a .308 JUST for fox, is hopeful I suspect, anywhere in the uk. Sounds to me like a .243 is a much better option, common for fox, and legal for all deer in the UK. Plenty of flatish shooting loads ava
  2. Mainly Stalking and fox ...so why a heavy barrel, I'm a tart at the best of times and I keep it as light as I sensibly can with all my hunting tools. I spend a fair bit of time at Bisley but do not have a target rifle to my name, the light barrel hunters are fine for a bit of fun on the range, just don't try rapid fire on a blazing hot day!! So I would suggest Sako, if the pennies are available or a T3 Lite....but do not even think about a T3 Lite if you intend to put a mod on the gun, even with the new shorter barrels it screws up the balance and you have to add about 150g (6oz) of
  3. Oh dear...a little bold this one I think.... By "correct hands" ..... I take it you mean an Olympic standard Pistol shooter compared to a back garden air rifle plinker!!
  4. Take a look at these...anything you fancy let me know and I'll check availability and best price for you!! http://www.djsproducts.com/
  5. As above .308 is commonly used here but my region will accept .243 when they are in a good mood!
  6. I was shooting in Lairg (think thats how you spell it) about 7 years back and went into Tain on the advice that Macleods were good (to be fair, not a lot of other choice anyway)..but I wasn't dissapointed, a great shopping experience!
  7. Step by step... First off just because the owner shoots FAC on the land does not mean it is cleared, he may have an Open Certificate...you need to ask him, and/or the police. Don't ever suggest to the police ..or anyone, you are shooting the FAC into the air/trees. Big problem area!!! If you are granted a FAC the odds are it will not be Open and EVERY piece of land you want to shoot on will have to be cleared BEFORE you shoot it. If you want to change your gun or add another you simply apply for a variation to your FAC.
  8. As long as someone with a ticket is there with you mate your fine ok mate thanks. i was just wondering because i have done clay shooting a couple of times but wondered wether it would be different for live shooting Not trying to be diffficult but that is not necessarily technically or legally correct , certainly in England/Wales anyway. Home Office Firearms Law Guidance to Police 2002 Exemptions from the requirement to hold a certificate Shot Guns 1968 Act Section 11(5) of the 1968 Act allows an individual, without holding a shot gun certificate, to borrow

  10. Is it the same tube but with 3 different baffle kits or have you 3 separate mods? Do you know how much different the compact p8 is to the standard p8 in terms of sound reduction Deker? 3 Completely seperate mods, one for each rifle..the P8 Compact on my .223 started life as the full length version and I bought the bits required to turn it into a Compact, reason being weight and gun balance, I did not notice any reduction in sound moderation having done this on the .223.
  11. I run the Predator 8 Compact on my .223, .243 and .308, keeps the weight down and perfectly adequate, just as good or better than the T8 in my experience although I concede there may be other moderators a "little" quieter. But they do for me!
  12. Versatile, innexpensive, effective, and good, CZ .22lr.
  13. Problem with pistols is that they are not accurate. Basic use is close range and knock down. The .22lr is probably the most accurate close, but has very little knockdown compared to those you list. 9mm and .38 are poor in my experience, although it could have been something to do with the pistols, .357 I have only let go in a Winchester/Marlin so not a valid comparison, and .45ACP I've never fired to best of my knowledge.
  14. Out of your book You amaze me, first off you do not know who I am, and second, enlighten us all, which of my books do you allege I wrote that gem in??
  15. Yet another thoroughly relevant comment to Custom? .223 rifle- Jeff Bucknell, and perhaps you can show where I have backed up anyone ...I have simply suggested you stop the grief and either add to the tread or go away!
  16. There is no specific answer to the question, only personal preference which is always going to be debatable. All 7 of my fac tools have a variable scope with Mil-Dots, simply because that's what I prefer, and run between 3-12 and 6-24, although the vast majority of the time they ALL run at 6x for ALL applications. Interestingly, last time at Bisley on 200 yards I was on 6x and the club member next to me was on 24x.... so no right or wrong here, simply whatever works for you! I tend to up the mag sometimes just to scan the horizon, which I find very useful, but seldom shoot at anyt
  17. This is news to me and a lot of other people I'm sure, would you be kind enough to advise the source of this information! Thank you!
  18. Mr L picked me up, nice to have a lift, and off we go. Flippen 'ek, the grass and the crop (oil seed rape) hasn't half grown in the last couple of weeks at this place, at the lowest up to my knees, and the highest virtually up to my shoulder. Anyway, saw a couple of bunnies on the verge of the lane driving in but couldn't see anything later. Few Roe stuck their heads up in the rape, very close some of them, all Does, then a boy did a silly thing, leaped up only about 15 yards away, bounded about 30-40 yards and decided to stop and take a look back, not a big fan of standing sho
  19. You are very good at second guessing and suggesting, but short on fact as always, and obviously can't read or spell...first off, your barely hidden suggestion that Mr L has asked me to kick in at you is a joke as anyone on this forum will know, and second "I" have not sworn or abused you on this thread, I have suggested you simply follow others suggestions. .....and once again let me ask, what the hell the above comments add to this thread in any way, you are simply going out of your way to cause angst, grief and conflict. Now please go away and wind up the the keyboard shooters on BBS
  20. Time to get out again and do what it's all about...talk to you later...just behave yourselves whilst I'm away!!
  21. why take it out on their dogs and if their not worrying livestock could be you thats in trouble. Oh Dear..off we go again!! Perhaps we need another section for POACHERS, so they can all pat their own backs and plead the case of why the world has got it in for them!!
  22. No need top belong to any club for FAC ...BUT..if you want it for Target shooting then you will have to be a member of a club or the condition will be removed. Lots of people have FAC for "hunting/vermin control" only, ......not a problem if you have the land and need...many, many more farmers/landowners have FAC for vermin and not target!!
  23. Does seem quite a big cub for the time of year!!
  24. What reticle???? Bag of Dog's doings and not worth a ****, but I'm a decent sort and it would upset me to see you cry, so I'll take a flier and offer £20 delivered.
  25. Coldweld You have obviously got issues with Mr L, and we have crossed swords before as well, but this business of who has the biggest prick is hardly constructive and I fail to see what it adds to any thread... My I suggest you either f*** off as has been suggested or forget this stupid grudge and get sensible!
