... My T3 Lite shoots almost anything pretty well, but it cost me a fortune and about 2 years to get it balanced...my T3 Hunter is much better balanced...personally I don't like heavy rifles for fieldwork and I would not buy one. My Remington is in .308 and is a SPS Stainless Synthetic and does me fine!

less than 72 hours is fine to lend a shotgun to someone else with a cert no other paperwork needed.but firearms you can't even lend for an hour! That's your answer if you are in England!

shotgun ... quick question
Deker replied to doyoufeel_lucky@hotmail.co's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Sounds to me like a word with the manufacturer, importer or good gunsmith is the best answer! -
Done it with rabbits 4 or 5 times, and with Pheasant and the shotgun once.

Hawke Varmint II by any chance...whatever, that's a useful zoom!

... this all gets too much for me...I've tried the Bore Foam...and all I ever seem to do is pebbledash the kitchen...Tetra I've not used for a long while. Hoppes Bench Rest Copper Solvent is now my preferred and I've just invested in another large bottle. I do not pretend it is the best in the world and I have to say this latest bottle does not seem quite as good as the last one Are we getting a consensus out of this one, seems that several different views have been expressed and various results achieved! I'm more than happy to try new stuff but I'm left a little confused after r

Good going, I've had a few squirrels myself with the air rifle and any bag that size is a good day!

I'm really not sure why the Hornet fell out of favour a few years back, it does seem to have a lot going for it ballistically. The problem now is the limited availability of guns and ammo. A Hornet crosses my mind from time to time as there does seem a bit of a gap between my .22WMR and my .223 Rem which the Hornet would fill quite nicely. However, I have not actually found that has caused me a problem yet! The .22WMR also took a right pounding a few years back as many switched to the HMR, but that too is making a comeback, rightly so, I love the WMR, gives me a feeling of confidence w

Chap I have had a couple of jobs on MoD land, high security stuff as well.....it is certainly not shotgun only, the old boys network or military own personal use. On the whole the military are scared stiff of doing any game/vermin control themselves and pass out just about all the work. The chances of bowling up on the gate and asking to shoot their rabbit/fox/deer for "sport" is slim though!

Had cause to be around my old home town of Cambridge yesterday...Funeral I'm afraid. Took the opportunity to look up some friends/relations in and around the area..... Many fields well ploughed and empty, and of course you can see for miles and miles! Saw very little wildlife but noticed lots of Pheasant shoots around. My cousin was over from Norfolk and was telling me what a problem he has with deer. F**k me, I do miss the area, may well have to head back some day!

pretty much what I was going to say.......

Personally I see no benefit in any varmint version of a .22lr or .17hmr. No accuracy advantage to talk of and simply carrying around a heavier lump. Not for me but others may well favour them. The 20g HP HMR ammo actually flies about 25mm higher and 25mm left of my 17g V max rounds (100yards). The grouping is not as good but they do tend to cause less meat damage. If you are concerned about meat damage then keep to head shots or get the 20g FMJ HMR. For vermin control the 17g ammo is the business. All my rimfires are CZ, no complains, and they all do the business for me day an

Hi Luke, I might be a little too far away BUT..... my mate has one which he purchased new. He has shot it once or twice with little more than 20 rounds thought it. As far as I know he has had no issues with the gun but did say he was going to sell it as he uses his U/O and wants space for another C/F rifle in his cabinet. I'm guessing he would want around £200 mark for it. If you are interested, then you can try before you buy and I'll sort a clay shoot out. Just thinking it might help you out a bit thats all. (The gun is black, 3" mag) John Just like the one I bought for my lad

My understanding is Howa is an engineering company who has made rifles for other people in the past. They made a commercial decision to start selling rifles with their own name on them a few years back. As a general comment, in principle they are pretty good and reasonably priced! I've never owned one, but know several people who do/have and I've shot a few. I was considering one a couple of years back but I just don't like the stocks, personal thing of course, and Howa don't make the stocks!

Yeah that's what I though - they're all rimfire. But on the phone they said 22RF means 22LR in their eyes. All ok though got the paper back today and it says WMR. Yep they're the cci 0073 - not in yet I called today. He said they should've been in ages ago and doesn't know why they're taking so long. I'll keep pestering... Not like the rabbits keep going after a super-x hits them, but... Doesn't surprise me at at we are still waiting for the ammo...GMK are involved and I have NEVER known GMK to be honest over delivery dates! But..as soon as I saw the spec of this ammo a year or tw

I have roughly half and half..more wood if you count the shotguns. I prefer the look of the wood on the whole although most of my synthetics look ok. So I prefer wood but the synthetic probably wins on practicality...close call though...but a scratch on a wood stock is easier to repair than one on a synthetic stock as I have found to my cost!!

I'll let you know when I get them. Over the phone that dealer said £21/100 IIRC. Will have to wait now though due to a misundstanding with the cops - the FO said I could have a magnum, but when my ticket came it only had 22RF. When I went to pick the magnum up the dealer said I know this is technically 22RF, but it should say 22WMR. I said call the FO, he said I believe you. So now when they get my bill of sale they say my ticket needs altering... Basically I need to wait for the ammended version to get back so I can pick the ammo up! thats shoddy work by your constabulary Proba

fair play mate give them chance to breed more sport for next year. what everyone should do Chap ..there is a MASSIVE difference between Sport and Vermin Control, My clients want rid..end of! That will never happen but that's why I seldom get massive numbers, I keep control, so after the initial cull on any site it's usually a call to deal with the odd one or two trouble makers!
-
Either should do. Although I have yet to find any practical use for IR!! The HMR is a 100-150 yard tool in general use (please... lets not start a debate about range) so no need to spend a fortune or have massive magnification. No recoil either, so no worries about shaking it apart! Yeh!!!!! .....always buy the best you can but be sensible with it...all my rimfires have innexpensive(ish) scopes and I use them day and night without any trouble!

There are a couple of .17 centrefires....... They are expensive, noisy, hard to find and of limited use...... I am involved in Game and Vermin Control, I have 7 FAC tools and an assortment of Shotguns but have no requirement for a 17 centrefire!
-
In general the HMR will probably be a good addition to the .22lr. I have .22lr, 17HMR and .22WMR and have a use for them all....I don't have any use for the .17 Mach 2. ALL 3 are specifically listed for FOX on my FAC and the HMR with 17g is the worst of the lot for fox.....yes...worse than the .22lr in my book. The HMR is good on bunnies and potentially very accurate, but despite what many will say, and all the charts suggest it really does not like gusty sidewinds! BUT..if you are after longer bunnies and crows then the HMR is the one to consider.

I've been after the CCI 30g V-Max WMR (CCI 0073) for over a year and GMK confirmed a few months back they have eventually got some on order. All the spec suggests they are a cracking round...I would be very interested to hear what you think when you get some...where you got them from ...and how much they cost.............Can't help thinking they will be a lot more than £17.

Sounds like the place has been let go a bit but 57 in 8 outings are still big numbers!!
