When you applied for a FAC you had to state which calibre rifles you needed and for what purpose you need them for, every application has exactly the same questions. So, you would have put .22 RF rifle and for whatever reason you needed it. You can buy a .22rf rifle and use it for the reasons it was granted. Both are written on your FAC. John yeh thanks i put down .22 rimfire for the control of fox vermim and ground game, so was wondering if i asked do you think they would review my licence so mabe i could get a 223 as i want to shoot fox Have you got a FAC yet or

I am certainly not the most experienced member os this site, but seeing as no one else has replied I'll give it a shot. Firstly, there's no harm in trying. Maybe give your FEO a call before sending the form in to save a wasted £25. Sounds like you have a good chance assuming your department is reasonable though. The best way would be to find a mentor to go out with you a few times and vouch for you. Should be easier seeing as you have the permission for it. Good luck and hopefully somoneone more experienced can chim in That's pretty much the way...your age is against you but appar

Don't put 5.56 through a .223... See below... http://www.winchester.com/lawenforcement/n...aspx?storyid=11 http://www.thegunzone.com/556v223.html

She failed it becuase it was not on a outside wall.I am 15 stone and used all my strength to try and pull it off the wall.We even used pink adhesive and then screwed it to floor and wall.It was Brattonsound cabinet. At least it was locked in a room with a steel lined door out of site. Not like were she wants it which can be seen as soon as one opens my appartment door Chap..I am confused, there is NOTHING in the regulations that says your Cabinet has to be mounted on an outside wall. She cannot fail it because of this. I can only assume she has decided your internal walls are not se

Very interesting stuff, as I say I've never come across this before but in saying that I don't shoot a .223 anymore or buy ammunition from the shops. So in theory, it would be more economical to reload 5.56 brass due to needing less powder? I have a stack of RADWAY GREEN brass here that is neither head stamped with .223 or 5.56 and produced some fine reloads. John Personal view but shared by many...RG 7.62 is well respected and I still have plenty of 1985 Vintage which performs brilliantly. RG 5.56 is crap...RG/BAE Systems want out of ammo manufacturing for the military but th

What do you want to shoot with them???

I have to be honest and say that I have never seen or heard of any issues with Mil spec ammo BUT would point out that the only Military 5.56 I've used has been head stamped by Radwell Green and British made. I know that there was some old 55 grain Military stuff floating around and also some German (DAG)/Belgium (FN) ammo but these were standard (NATO SS109). My mates use a whole lot of 7.62 head stamped, military fodder in their .308 rifles (much to my disgust, as I can not use the brass) with no ill effects. Now I know that military rifles have a special proof mark, which may mean a higher

It is of no consequence if it is an Internal or External wall, the consideration is what the wall/floor is made of and therefore if the cabinet is adequately secured!

yeah the hmr's, im guessing your not a fan of them! i personally find them a good round but useless if its windy! was a fan till i found that many a fox would not play dead when it was shot further than -90yds away.so i stopped shooting foxes with the hmr but if you can kill them at 180yds with the hmr then your a better man than me.i will stick to what i know works in the real world. fair enough each to there own, i tend to use a proper tool for foxes anyhow but you never no when one might pop out! and as for the real world the old man can head shot rabbits at 150 with his sako qua

CZ do 2 magazine sizes only for the rimfires, they are:- .22lr and .17Mach2 or .22WMR and .17HMR

This is all news to me, it certainly does not apply to my region and I have NO letters at all. (and an Open FAC) Is this just another variation from a region designed to confuse everyone. Just what is the point in having a letter to say it is Open..it will say that in the conditions, likewise if it is not, it will also say that in the conditions...doesn't add up to me!!

I to decker thought it was a piss take. Its not, The gun is very barrel heavy and I did manage to hit a pigeon. It is ported for the full legnth and is virtually recoil free. It patterns tight but it has a super turkey full in anyway. £200 is the cost from midway, why anyone would want one ?????? having to much money probabley as I said I was just modelling it

I don't reload.. at the moment I have no desire or inclination ...OR TIME!!! However, I know one or two that do, and I cannot deny how impressed I am by the ammo made by virtual novices, I could not believe the improvement in accuracy. One inch groups turn into one hole groups! So, plus points, if you use a bit of ammo you will soon recoup your costs, continue to save money and get better ammo. Minus..it does take time, you need to take care and be accurate and consistent and safe, don't get carried away, find a load and stick with it, also storage and working space have to be fo

CZ do not make a 10 shot HMR/WMR mag for the 452, not aware of anyone else who does. Don't know why not...perhaps because they would thump you in the back even worse than the .22lr 10 shot mags when you sling the rifle over your shoulder. Can be handy for range work, but there again the HMR/WMR was never really designed as a target tool

Sorry, but I simply don't get it so help me out please! Never seen anything quite that crazy, and I don't have any trouble with Dreys with my 30" barrels. Is that for real, what sort of money, what sort of weight and just quite what does it do for the pattern? I just don't see it, the shot spreads when it leaves the barrel whether it's 20 or 200 inches I struggle to see it making a significant difference for dreys Perhaps simply make it 30ft long and place directly under the drey!! I am trying to remain open minded, a review of benefits/performance would be appreciated as I

They always seem to be pretty good but on ANY quantity HAGGLE, you will usually be able to get a bit more off..even with JC above!

I think you will find the best and cheapest way to get insurance is to join BASC, CA, CPSA, SACS etc, etc, that way you get insurance and more, and I've always found it cheaper than insurance alone for Sporting purposes. From a business/professional point of view it's different of course!

That's the way I do it....can sometimes take a bit of effort to get started then seems to just fly off!!

The application or accompanying notes will tell you the "type" of person deemed suitable to sign, but as many people don't know their MP, a Bishop, The CEO of Nat West etc, etc the person is now generally accepted as someone of "some" standing who has known you long enough and usually has a clean record...and so much the better if they happen to be a SGC or FAC holder!

I dont know , where can i check? It will be on your FAC, to the left of the HMR conditions, it will say something like "D.THE .17HMR RIFLE / SOUND MODERATOR AND AMMUNITION SHAL BE USED FOR . . . . . .etc. At the start of that note the "D", that means "Open Ticket" Have a look at yours it probably say "C",. Let us know What region are you in, I know nothing of this C or D business, my Certificate is FULLY OPEN for EVERYTHING and I have no letters to see anywhere!! Cheers

I've seen the black ones on 2 of my sites but none for a couple of years, not seen a white one (yet)

This is the answer to your question...easy!! Unfortunately many regions will not entertain ANY rimfire on foxes, if this is the case substitute the WMR for Hornet! 22LR and 22WMR 22LR subsonic ammo for quiet rabbit killing 22WMR 40gr JHP unless you can get the new 30gr V-max, will kill foxes nicely to about 125 yards.

12g are vastly more popular than 20 and generally cheaper. Ammo choice is vastly wider and cheaper as well. With a 12 you can do anything a 20 can...but a 20 cannot do everything a 12 can!!! Weight wise there can be very little between them sometimes, as many 20g are based on 12 actions and are all but as big and heavy! I'd say without doubt there is a place for both, but the vast majority of people will find a 12 does everything they want!

.22LR or .17HMR For Very Close Range Fox
Deker replied to Mutimer's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
HMR will ricochet I've heard them They just don't do it nearly as often as the .22lr. Totally agree with John here.... and... VERY Close foxes...22LR with 40g subs and a big hollow point, spreads a treat, punches a big hole and usually imparts ALL its energy, i.e., it stays in! 17g HMR is too small on the whole, usually fragments very small and is not as good on the body as .22LR, head shots are fine, usually turns the brains to jelly which start flowing out the ears! 20g HMR is better on fox generally, but not as accurate as 17g, but I still favour .22lr for CLOSE! -
Those prices are very good, WMR is around £20 here and HMR around £26!!!
