  1. Am I reading that right, the rat heard the rifle fire and moved before the pellet arrived? Rats (and many other animals) have very quick reactions, but even given the relatively slow speed of a 12ft lb .25 in relation to the speed of sound, no rat is going to get out of the way of a travelling pellet because he heard it. If they moved in the video you saw I suspect it was for another reason! ATB!
  2. A .25 running at 12ft lb is probably as close as you are likely to get to the perfect ratting gun, the problem is it is pretty useless at anything else!
  3. I had spent around 3 years on and off playing with semis and toying with the idea of buying one before I invested, I kept coming back to the 7022. It is as light as they come, easy to work on and shoots all the ammo I have tried in it. The trigger is poor and I thought that would lead to bad results, not much you can do with them except fettle, (they improve with use anyway), but the groups are remarkably good. I keep it clean and it doesn't jam, the only problem I have had with ammo is with a bad batch of Winchesters which I was testing for another member here and a box of Remington sub
  4. It is heartening to see the old faithful .22lr, is on virtually everyones list!
  5. The 16" Silhouette is now sold. THANK YOU to everyone who has shown an interest.
  6. Well, that's out of order if you ordered one part and he fitted a different one. I know very little about the Evolution except its meant to be a bit smaller and lighter and designed for up to medium action rifles. No idea about sound reduction figures but seems a little cheaper. Are you going to run with it or get a Compact?, can you post up pics/review if you keep it, as I say I don't really know anything about these. ATB!
  7. As they count to your allocation they should be on your FAC! A-Max doesn't count (the fact it expands is neither here nor there, it is classed as target not expanding), and, for all I know a few other target bullets, with similar features may not count either. Expanding bullets do as far as I'm aware and should be on FAC. I'll hold my hands up to not being an expert here as I don't reload, but I do buy the stuff and indeed hold bullets for others when they need some extra storage capacity, the expanding go on ticket.
  8. We all have different requirement (or expectations or wishes). I have to cover a lot of quarry in a lot of different situations and I need the right gun to hand. I am not a gun collector, they are tools, I have what I need, I don't need the 16" Silhouette now, so its up for sale!
  9. Lots of CF and shotguns to add to that lot, and the FAC air rifle. I currently have 4 cabinets. (2x9gun, 1x5gun, 1x3gun..mine all get stored clean/dry and in their slips)
  10. The standard supplied mags for the T3 are all the same size for small and medium action, and simply adapted for different calibre of ammo, that being the case small calibres hold more, bigger calibres less. Larger capacity mags are available from Tikka for all calibres which can hold more than the standard mags! I also understand there may be some third party mags out there as well, no idea what their capacity may be!
  11. It occurs to me it may more sense to the air gunners to see a comparison with a .22 and .177 pellet as well, best I can do with my phone and flash, but I think you get the idea..............
  12. My current Rimfire selection. Available in the Classifieds Guns & Rifles for sale section, the 16" .22lr Silhouette. CZ American .22WMR CZ Silhouette .17HMR CZ Silhouette .22lr CZ Silhouette .22lr 16" Barrel Magtech .22lr Semi The 16" Silhouette is the newest and hardly used, I let off a couple of shots yesterday to make sure it worked! (cleaned it again since!) It was bought with the intention of being a Company rifle but great plans change, sometimes quickly, and it is now surplus to requirements, available for sale at a VERY competitive price.
  13. I have no idea as I have never had a T3 mag apart, but it does seem odd. Out of interest the T3 .243 mag does only holds 3, plus 1 in the chamber, total 4
  14. Walshie I have no idea what is going on here, I have a T3 Lite Stainless .223, about 8 years old now. It holds 4 in the magazine, Fact, end of, just tried it in light of the comments here. You can of course load one and make a total of 5, but the magazine hold 4. This is the Standard magazine, a larger one is available and holds 6-7 I believe.
  15. I spent some time in the company of a happy Daystate Wolverine owner yesterday and he let me steal some pellets. Just for interest......... 55gHP 50g 40g (I think I got those weights right) and a .22lr 40g for comparison. The HP on the 55g is massive.
  16. Are you in Oxford, I'm up that way on Sunday, and probably again between Christmas and New Year, in the Islet/Kidlington area, is that anywhere near you?
  17. Just so we are on the same wave length, these are both used, they have superficial loading marks (No Damage) and are about 6 months old. Obviously they both work fine, but I simply have more than I need. If you are still interested by all means give me a shout Payday!
  18. I have 2 x 10 shot Plastic, .22lr/17HM2 £40 total delivered to UK mainland.
  19. SOLD Genuine CZ 10 round Plastic .22LR (.17 HM2) magazine (452/453/455/512/513) 2 x 10 Round magazines for sale, used, superficial loading marks, only approx. 6 months old, £40 including delivery to UK mainland.
  20. Absolute bargain, approx. 6 months old and bought as a spare Company rifle but things change, sometimes quickly. CZ Silhouette .22lr 16" barrel, Hawke Eclipse 3-9x40 Mil Dot and mounts, Proofed Moderator and 6-9" Bipod, Rimfire Magic Trigger kit fitted, excellent condition. NOW SOLD PM with any questions. Cheers
  21. ....add to that the fact reloaders tinker all the time, there is always a better load to be found and they keep looking, even if they have a load that already works well. No question accuracy can be improved over factory for virtually everyone, and costs relate to usage, if you do shoot a lot then savings can be made, but as said don't necessarily get into reloading with the aim of saving money. Also consider accuracy, I use PRVI .223/243/308, all deliver 1" in my rifles, for sure I can improve that reloading, but hit anything with a CF and it falls down whether it is 1" or 1/2"
  22. The more things your permission letter covers is NOT good, it simply complicates things, restricts you and gives you a whole load of parameters to comply with, on top of which, few, if any landowners are interested in reading/signing a contract several pages long binding them and you to a whole load of rules. http://basc.org.uk/?s=permission+letter&x=0&y=0 BASC letter, how complicated is that, fancy telling the BASC they have not covered enough? I am not rubbishing any calibre, you simply don't get it do you, if you like charts so much look up a 17 rem or Fireball, .204, or a 222/223
  23. It's better to be water tight than have things go wrong later. But why buy more rifle than you need? If there's a rimfire capable of despatching squirrels or other vermin / game at out to 300 yards, then why go to the expense of a CF to do the same job? If you already have a CF or want to shoot fox at that range then fair enough, but in the absence of that, WSM seems to fill the hole between LR and CF quite nicely, especially as its unlikely you'll be regularly taking shots at that range anyway. What it gives is flexibility. A rifle that will happily shoot at yards all day for 30p a sh
