I check the zero regularly on ALL my rifles, I also keep them all clean. They are never far off, even after a clean, one or two shots at most to get zero back, and that is usually just to clear any cleaning/oil residue in the barrel. I have settled on the ammo that suits my rifles and needs so I very rarely change, but any different ammo will of course need a zero check!

Well, seems I'm in the minority, but I'm no fan of Wagyu at all, perhaps I've just been to the wrong restaurants!

Each to their own, I rate the HMR, I also have 2 x .22Lr and a WMR, as well as the centrefires etc. Again, let me be clear, the ammo situation on the HMR is appalling, but I have a use for ALL my rifles so no intention of dropping the HMR. And as regards .22LR for fox, yep, me to, I do a lot of garden foxes and use it commonly, works just fine!

PPI PRVI 55g SP worth a look, they don't suit every rifle but they give me 1" in my T3 Lite and for field work that's just fine for me!

Just out of curiosity, what made you sell it to start with? -
Single shot pcp v multi shot pcp

I had a Daystate Hunstman around the mid 90's, it was a single shot running FAC and very accurate. I changed this for a FAC Multi shot Falcon around 2000 and didn't notice any difference in accuracy, actually the Falcon is VERY accurate! -
To be fair that has gone through my mind as well, it would be a nightmare to police this, just the same, the FIA say they are looking at it!

The FIA rule book is already the size of the Encyclopedia Britannica (younger subscribers may need to look that up) so a few more chapters on finance shouldn't be a problem!

I have every respect for our armed forces, and would do everything I could to protect my family, but personally, I'm not keen on some politician sitting at a polished desk, in his pristine suit and drinking Perrier water, telling world how grateful he is for my sacrifice!

Already shaping up to be a good scrap...between a couple of teams, shame a few more can't get in the picture. Money talking still, even though I understand more plans are afoot to limit team spend!

I'm trying to remember but I think it was circa 2000/2001 the HMR hit our shores, things appeared fine for a year or two, (actually, HMR gun sales took off like a rocket) then ammo issues started being reported. It was well known by 2007 and has been around ever since! I get the impression something has changed with the ammo over the last year or two but I don't know what. It must be something fairly effective as HMR Semi Auto rifles are coming back.
-
I think you are talking about CCI comments in the Article. I agree, it is a million miles from satisfactory, but I still use the HMR, it is something to be mindful of and take care. Some have moved away from HMR because of this issue and quite shortly after HMR Semis were introduced (Not in the UK) they were withdrawn because of this exact issue, a squib round with enough pressure to cycle the rifle for the next shot whilst actually leaving a round half way up the barrel. Something must have changed a while ago because HMR Semi ammo is available and Semi rifles are coming back.
-
Unfortunately this is a VERY well known issue of HMR ammo, I still don't understand why something hasn't been pinned on this subject. The crack per se, lets very little pressure out from a well engineered breech. The bullet is next to never slower, and all being well, will not cause any issues with the shot. The crack is/can be a route for damp ingress or in extreme cases powder loss, that's what causes the problems. Fresh/Dry, well stored ammo even with a crack is very unlikely to cause any issues. This goes back 11 years, note CCI comments towards the end of the article! ht

The 5 gun shops know more than the Police, the Police are idiots if they say a .22WMR in not a .22RF. If they meant .22LR why didn't they write .22LR and Not .22RF!? So, lets assume he quite legitimately bought a WMR from one of the 5 dealers who said no problem, he then advised his region of the purchase, what then? Sorry, I'm not trying to be controversial, but .22RF is all encompassing and does not simply mean .22LR, are you/they saying he couldn't buy a .22Short under the heading of .22RF and a .22Long under the same heading? If they meant SOLELY .22LR they should write .22
-
Sorry, I know this is years on, this question has been asked many times, but a .22WMR is most definitely a .22RF. This is a slightly different question to the OP and your Region cannot possibly argue that a .22WMR is not a .22RF. Just the same, you will still need to find a RFD who will sell you a WMR under .22RF, some may want further clarification, but again, nobody can argue that a .22WMR is not a .22RF because it is. If your region did not want to include WMR in their description they should have been more specific in their designation. Edit Further to your conta

Another good day on the blacks

I was with you, certainly didn't sound very PC! -
Open FAC commonly comes with experience, sometimes easier with FAC air though. Its down to need and land as well. There is NO answer to your question only generalisation. Best talk to your region, but if you think you have a case for Open on All your land with more than FAC Air put your case to them!

Which You Like Best For Pest Control?
Deker replied to rubenson's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
My preference is what's best for any job. Probably of no consequence now as it seems he's gone! -
…....months on but that's it, Auto mode is 2 wheel drive almost all the time, but will go into 4 wheel drive as required, actually it will fire different power to each wheel as required. Vast majority of time Auto drive mode will be 2 wheel drive! Little or no effect on fuel consumption if it doesn't cut into 4 wheel drive.

It's always happening in the countryside........

Seems to be a thing, I do work on several University Campus and first saw this about 20 years ago, I actually caught them burning the books in the woodland on campus and asked what was going on...end of course, end of Uni ritual! -
I think it is heatstroke, I'm there most Saturdays and it has steadily died, never grown to any height either and no sign of any crop (seed). I've seen rape there over about 6 years in different fields and never seen this before! Next time I see him I'll ask, or keep an eye on the field and see what happens to it!
-
I was at a client in Oxford last Sat, and his crop of rape appears destroyed, the whole 33 acres in one field is brown and crisp and dead!

Always satisfying when a plan comes together. The fox is VERY clever but too often his routines lead to his undoing!
