  1. Let’s be honest you don’t get to push that many Fox’s out from cover it’s certainly not a weekly thing or monthly on my local ground, I see them but they have usually winded me first unless they are slack foxes.
  2. Sometimes Morton I am open mouthed at what you say,I had bedlingtons 1980s to 2000 Rillington strain,2 KC rillington & one 1/16 border so I am not un qualified to talk about Bedlingtons ,I like Bedlingtons they are good around kids and other dogs, good guard dogs, work wise knocking about they are very entertaining rarely get knocked up and mine used to hunt like f**k but there not perfect nothing is,they are too big for most fox earths & the Bedlingtons I’ve seen that are 14-15 TTS often have weak heads and don’t really resemble Bedlingtons.all my bedlingtons could retrieve & recall
  3. Cheers gripper, yes he worked to ground but he was on the stockier side which limited him as it’s mainly dug out rabbit holes round here, the other Lucas I had was better to ground but I am not a digging man as they say, when they were to ground i always hoped for a bolt, both could be shouted out which is a handy thing to be able to do.
  4. Morton,my point was any terrier can be trained to do anything a Bedlington can do and I stand by that ,I agree they may not do it as quickly as a Bedlington or have the legs to climb stone walls but there’s more to a hunting than who’s the quickest terrier,I’ve been like You Morton impressed with the Bedlingtons speed & drive and I agree it takes some beating but in my late 30s I bought a Lucas terrier which wasn’t as quick as my Bedlingtons but in every way she was better at ratching about, she caught more rabbits ,she worked close & brain wise she could buy & sell my Bedlington,wh
  5. Daniel you say your starting to sway towards a terrier that can do more than one thing,it’s not the dog Daniel it’s the owners that limit the dogs,a fell terrier with the right training could do anything a bedlington could do,Morton says how his bedlington hunts hares field after field! Any terrier could do that cos it’s out of control, dogs like that are a nightmare as there always too far in front which is no good if you have a gun in your hands unless it’s a Kalashnikov or as beating dogs or to flush to lurchers as they have there own agendas..
  6. I look after my mates horses while he’s away and he walks my dogs in return,I am looking after them this week and I can tell you he’s got a good deal, regards booster jabs my vet only charges £12 for a booster so I always get them done, they only charge £22 for a puppy’s complete jabs.

    Terrier

What a smart little dog, spaniel colour terrier shape.
  8. Your right about that trigger,I’ve just had ago with my mates lgu it’s a nice gun but that trigger is odd and I can’t see the point If the 3 position cocking.
  9. Who’s got one and what are they like for rabbits vermin shooting compared to a hw77 A friend of mine has recently bought one and he really rates it but he’s one of those who’s for ever swapping guns so hard to know for sure ,I am off to have ago with it tomorrow.cheers.
  10. What’s not to like about that pic, what was her breeding?.
  11. That looks good tomburras, that’s put the cat among the pigeons!.
  12. Thanks everyone for your input,I’ve been have a good look round and a pcp rifle with scope & bottle is not cheap so I am going to get a springer most lightly a hw77 ,yes it’s heavy and I wanted light but it’s just for summer rabbits in spots I can’t use the shotgun.
  13. I’ve just an hours walk round with the pup,he’s not a dog that’s in every bit of hedge but when there’s a rabbit in I can tell already by his actions, first hedge he marked to night he pushed 3 out nice and steady giving me chance to push another cartridge in.
  14. What reason did the vet give for the bitch bursting her stitches? Good luck.
  15. My 3 are kept outside coming in the house is rare but if I only had 1 dog I would bring him in the house more often, the main reason my don’t come in the house they would make the house stink, I don’t believe bringing them in the house makes them soft, there’s positives to dogs been in the house like bonding with young dogs.
  16. Why wouldn’t you have dogs in the house?.
  17. Is there any modern pump air rifles that are worth a look? I had a sharp inova years ago which was light accurate but not very reliable if you tweaked the power.
  18. Look nice and compact I will have closer look, cheers.
  19. There are good guns mark but I find they can spoil a walk round because of there bulk,I preferred the hw77 to the hw80 .cheers.
  20. I am after an air rifle to shoot rabbits,I would like something light & accurate preferably pre charge,pump,c02, it doesn’t have to be any thing fancy, over the years I’ve had hw80 hw77, sharp inova,s400 all sorts really, the last one was a hw80 but it was two heavy, I’ve been looking but I am abit rusty with air rifles so any advice would be welcome, cheers.
  21. Few more pics, all flushed by dogs and shot.
  22. Here’s some more pics,1985 two bedlington x whippet/greyhounds on left bedlington x whippet on right, late 90s Lucas terriers catching rabbits and the odd squirrel in log piles.I did loads of bushing in the 80s but cameras were shite then, once you had taken your pics you had to go to chemist leave the film 2-3 days then pic up a load of blurred pics.

    First rabbit

My Sealyham x Russell caught his first rabbit today bushing, he’s 8 months and hunting well,he’s been retrieving shot rabbits & birds but this is his first catch,he caught it tucked up in long grass,I was impressed how he winded it as it was well tucked away.
  24. If money is not the issue to the lads that give pups away why are we time after time discussing money? Just give your pups away and stop bleating about it,if it’s a pat on the back your your after well have one from me because it’s commendable what you are doing but I wouldn’t do it unless I was giving the pups to family or close friends, there are too many in the working dog game with an attitude of I will give the pup ago ffs no wonder there are so many dogs that don’t make the grade.
  25. No problem it was just asking out of interest .
