  1. A bloke over the road had one . I don't know how good it was but I seem to remember him saying that you needed a lorry load of batteries to feed it. I seem to remember that it took about eight AA's.
  2. I look at it this way. If I needed a ( probably a double barrel shotgun ) reblacked then I would take it to a specialist barrel blacker, of which there is one not that far away to get a superb finish. On the other hand If it was just a barrel that needed a tart up I would have a go at finding out what is needed to do the job and get some plastic tube, blank it up and fill the salts mix and see how it went. If you got the hang of if, you could even do other people's barrels and make a few Bob. The main thing is that the barrel has to be completely stripped of ALL blacking and greased finger
  3. I've never had much success with any of the cold blueing fluids. They're either the wrong colour and there is no depth to the surface. I just can't see how wiping a surface with a pad can give an even covering. It's always going to be streaky. This is why barrels are done in tanks of fluid. Another aspect is how well the base is cleaned and polished to start off with. If the base is uneven and scratched you ain't going to finish with an even deèp mirror finish. What is the barrel off of ? Shotgun/ rifle ?

    The Election

It's only a movie, it's only a show. Sport and entertainment for all. It's like four monkeys up three and a half sticks. One would have to pay for entertainment like this. ???.

    The Election

Yes, that's probably about right but if we look at the corrupt political systems in most of the rest of the world our system is reasonably good. If we don't have some optimism we might as well have complete anarchy. The only thing is that everyone needs to get out and vote for what you believe in. How gutted when you loose by a vote. Ps. The grass ain't always greener on the other side of the fence. I've been to places that we consider paradise but to the locals they just want to get out because there ain't any opportunities there.

    The Election

P45s abound. A cull of dead wood is about to take place, berco is gone. Good ridance to all of the traitors. I read that about 50+ aren't bothering to stand. Here today gone tomorrow.
  7. The blighter is very partial to McVites digestives also. We buy flats of tins of dog meat from different makers with different flavours to try to make it different every day. Imagine if you were dished up cold greasy Swede, cabbage and pilchards every day and thats it. If you dont wolf it back in half an hour it gets taken away and reissued tomorrow. .... great.... yum, yum. To those that say that dogs shouldn't be fed human food then perhaps they should be issued a nice bowl of cold dogo chunks and hard biscuits.
  8. If the beast is in good condition why the worry. most dogs wolf the grub down but Some dogs are picky and graze when they will. When I had two spaniel they were eating through a sack of biscuits and suddenly neither of them would eat them. I could find nothing like contamination or anything wrong with the biscuits. I gave the remnant of the sack away and his dog eat it no problem at all. Now I only have the one spaniel, I mix biscuits and meat and the dog goes to the bowl sniffs and walks away. I now put the meat on one side and the biscuits on the other. After an hour or so the dog has an
  9. Hi.  How much are you looking at for the Mec 20 bore reloader ?

  10. How ?.enlighten me. I have a 9000 in 12 and I don't see any easy conversation to a different calibre. Everything would have to be changed at every station. you can change a manual loader into a hydraulic powered unit by adding the hydraulic parts but as far a I know there aren't any mod kits available to change a 9000 to a different calibre . If there was it would nearly be as cheap to buy another machine. I think that you can modify the smaller Mec 650 models to other calls but not the progressive 9000 models.
  11. No, but I know of a bloke who is in this situation. Everyones circumstances are different and I don't know yours but my advice is to not go off on one and end up shooting yourself in the foot by being offensive or violent to anyone involved in this story Ect Ect,. Basically the woman gets precedence over a bloke unless there ere exceptional circumstances. it may not be fair but that's how it is. Nothing is ever sorted out by getting bogged down in argument and recrimination. The only ones that benefit are the lawyers. What you have to remember is that it is the welfare of the children is
  12. Back in the late forties and fifties When father and grandfather loaded it was a case of necessity because cartridges were (A) difficult to get ( There was still wartime rationing until 53) and (B) expensive for their pocket at that time. Father’s kit comprised a bike spoke to knock the primers out, A shot /powder measure, a couple of bits of wood as a base, a wad cutter and a ramrod. They made wads out of cardboard and felt when they could afford it and get it. No ordinary people wasted cartridges shooting clays and as no one had a fridge so they only shot what they ate so the cartridge co

  14. It snows every year. Scotland up to their armpits with freezing horizontal rain and four hours at most, of low light. whilst right down south here it will be a pleasant 22 •C with azure blue sky's and a big yellow sun. T shirt weather.
  15. I reload 12, 20 & 28. Roughly the price for 28 is in the region of £280 a thousand. That equates to about £7 a box but this seems to raise to around £8 a box if bought singularly. I use a Mec grabmaster with the adjustable powder / shot bar to load the 28s. It depends how much shooting you are going to do because It does cost a fair bit to set up properly to reload. Reloading shotshells is a lot more difficult than centre fire rifle csrtridges. There are a lot more stages involved that have to be set up and adjusted but when you've got it all set up you're rolling. You have to have a b

    Mushrooms

Yes, you could eat them but I'd ask the gnome sitting on top of them if you are going to die a horrible death first !! Oh and do you have a barge pole available to keep away from them. AND as for those blue things Naah I'll pass on them..
  17. I did similar with a wasp nest in mothers garden using oxy acetylene. After I pumped the gas in and took the source away I got a bit of lit rag on the end of a pole and lit the entrance. There was a disappointingly small flame like a cande and then after a while, BOOM. It didn't blast the lawn up like that but there was a fair old thump which opened the ground a bit. The wasps that were in the nest were wallpapered around the inside. Ps I just noticed the reaction of the two dogs. The one that was on the lawn looks well shock stunned. The other one has an expression like what th

    Mushrooms

It's odd that we all have a high degree of suspicion about wild mushrooms here in the UK, yet over on the continent they seem to eat all sorts of stuff that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. when I was a kid I dont remember anyone ever thinking anything about poisonous fungi apart from the obvious fairy tale red with white spots jobbies. Never heard about anyone keeling over. In fact when there was a bumper crop they were even sold to the local crocer. Imagine that now. .... Grocer. .... can you verify the origin of these "Organic musrooms", Mrs Bloggs. The old bull field. Grocer. ... do

    Mushrooms

Loads of wood mushrooms around at the moment. I can't remember a year when there have been so many. A blokes garden down the road is like a white carpet. When I was a kid my Sisters and Brother and I used to go to a field that was known as the bull field. it was a field that grew loads of mushrooms. Some were really big and were known as horse mushrooms. They were good fried in butter or beef dripping. Ps. Whilst out with the dog this afternoon I picked a bag full, came home and the Mrs had bought a tray from Tesco. Still they'll be used.

    Brexit

It isn't very good is it. I'm looking forward to the time that a liberal undemocrat comes knocking on my door at some election. They will be informed where the gate is without hesitation. I do hope that there will be a serious cull of those who stood on a party political platform at the last election and subsequently have done everything to hinder our vote in the referendum. Give them their p45s soon.
  21. I was told by an experienced shot to get on one knee to shoot boar coming toward you if your on the ground and not up in a raised stand. ( If you've got the nerve ). He reasoned that kneeling you were smaller and that you were shooting straight at the target rather than having to add downward lead as the target closed in. He said that he had seen people ripped and seriously injured by boar going through them. One of the son in laws has a place down in middle France and says that when they have the local boar shoots it is wise to stay inside as they tend to shoot all over the place and everyo
  22. I had one like a shetland pony clad in coconut matting show at high speed over/across a track in front of me and it was so quick that I never even had time to get the gun to shoulder. It is very difficult when you are put on a peg /stand and you don't know the lay of the land, where there will be a break through and where dogs are.. it's quite a high though.
  23. When I first started there wasnt the kit available that is out there now. You'd laugh at the kit that we used. My first expedition was a four D cell lantern torch but it did have Kripton bulb with a penciil beam. It was ok with the rimfire on rabbits. The next trial was a lead acid battery and the headlight off of a Honda 50. This was rubbish and rotted the carry bag out. That was very soon abandoned and replaced with a backpack with a small 12volt 8A gel battery driving amps using 55W halogen bulbs. I still use this stuff because the lamps can be plugged into the batteries on vehicle
  24. It can only be As stated. A slight difference between an imperial and a metric size tube and rings. Personally I dont worry about marks or stuff like that. I buy a good quality fixed power scope either 6x or 8x fit it and that's where it stays. I don't keep changing or selling so marks don't matter. As long as it holds zero its good.
