  1. Took the girl to the vets for the last time. No more pain now lady. RIP. Sky.
  2. "Mine" are dithering about the bird box but not sure yet. Have had 7 clutches in 10 years in the same box. Just waiting.. Cheers, D.
  3. Unfortunately the joint is full of it and the vet says it could smash anytime and has probably been there for several months. She has been taking Previcox for over a year to ease the pain of her arthritis and this has probably masked the pain as weel but it has now become too much and she hardly puts her foot down now. Have booked her in for the needle on Monday afternoon. Gonna spend the weekend with her first. Thanks for all replies guys. D.
  4. My old lurcher bitch (8+) had been limping on her front right leg for a few days. I gave her Arnica and rested her up for few days. After a week she's worse not better so I took her to the vets. Left her there for an Xray, got a call to come up later to discuss, she's got cancer in her leg. 4 options, Have her leg amputated and that will give her "several months of pain relief", or "take a course of expensive, non guaranteed specialist treatment in Bristol" or "strap her up when you take her out and give her high strength pain kllers daily for when her leg disintegrates (soon)" or "have h
  5. One of my 2 lurchers met ferrets for the first time at 3 Years old the the other has grown up with them. Apart from the current law they would both kill a fox and both work rabbiting together with the ferts. They need to realise ASAP that the ferrret is an ally, not a quarry. It's down to the owner. Cheers, D
  6. Given the right conditions, if a dog can take 10, it's decent. 20, it's good. Any more it's a cracker but it can only catch whats there. IMO. Cheers, D.
  7. Went out to try my new Striker on Fri. night. Have my lamps normally straight to the battery but had an "home made" adapter to accept the cigar fitting on the Striker. Connection failed about as far away from the motor as possible. Not the lamp but my fault. Now going again Sun. Cheers, D.

    Will.f11

Saw Will.F today, riding to hounds. Says he's not been on for a bit for various reasons.
  9. There is the view that terrier blood in a running dog tends to produce hard mouths. There's terrier blood in mine and he usually crunches the first catch then when he's calmed down the rest are usually fairly undamaged. Cheers, D.
  10. R.I.P.Lucy, died after doing what she loved. Regards, D.
  11. How did you know you were mentioned in a thread started on March 13 as your not named in the title of the thread Well done, Miss Marple!
  12. Thing about dividers is that if you are just nipping out for a quick, handy go you can put a ferret in one compartment and nets and stuff in the other side without getting your nets tangled up with ferts and no need to take a seperate net bag. Cheers, D.
  13. Get yourself some hazel ones for free. If you do a search on here for hazel poles there's a whole heap of tips, advice, identification etc. Some good stuff. Try it. Cheers, D.
  14. I've had a few things from Strong Stuff and all top quality and well designed. Discount wanted here also! Cheers, D.
  15. Try another vet mate! Cheers, D.
  16. I 'd be a bit cagey, some rescues let them go to working homes but I'd say "you wanted it primarily as a pet" If possible, take a picture of it's future home and show them what conditions it will live in. Hopefully you know your stuff about ferret welfare and will be able to talk to them convincingly and will impress them with your knowledge. I'd be very suprised if they wanted to do a home visit and the ferts are normally castrated/speyed. Good luck. Cheers, D.
  17. Sounds daft I know but my initial reaction to your post was " tie his favourite stick to a shot pigeon, etc and let him retrieve both. Change it to rabbit, crow, etc as he hopefully keeps retrieving. Not a scientifically proved method of dog training but maybe worth a shot? Cheers, D.
  18. Done it. £10 sent via Paypal. Hope it helps. Cheers, D.
  19. Get the best compact pair you can for the money. Go to a proper optical shop, not Currys or Dixons and tell them his requirements. Get what they say is best for his requirements for the money. He'll be pleased you've researched his needs if he's so rich! Cheers, D.
  20. 3 out of 4 of mine have come from the local ferret rescue place. My oldest at 4 is a brilliant rabbiter and shows at every hole till the bury is cleared. The other two are last years and have done really well this season for tyros. All 3 are castrated/neutered and the ferret rescue wants a £10 minimum donation. Less than the price of a Jill jab for one year. All ferrets will work given the right circumstances. Cheers, D.
  21. For my road legal quad value £2,500 I pay £180 a year through Adrian Flux/Bennets Bikes. (on line). HTH. Cheers, D.
