  5. Try putting the dog in the motor, with a treat without going anywhere or starting the engine. Stay with the dog if poss and reassure it. Work up to running the motor and leaving the dog alone in it. Good luck. It might take time. Cheers, D.
  6. Good pics and nice variety of species. Cheers, D.
  7. Yes my friend, you are quite correct. What else could anyone say about Kernow other than that Mark B lives here, you are clearly not plumb up Anyway, Marks ok. What about us respectble "upcountry" people who have made our lives and livings in Cornwall?

  14. Unfortunately the joint is full of it and the vet says it could smash anytime and has probably been there for several months. She has been taking Previcox for over a year to ease the pain of her arthritis and this has probably masked the pain as weel but it has now become too much and she hardly puts her foot down now. Have booked her in for the needle on Monday afternoon. Gonna spend the weekend with her first. Thanks for all replies guys. D.
  15. My old lurcher bitch (8+) had been limping on her front right leg for a few days. I gave her Arnica and rested her up for few days. After a week she's worse not better so I took her to the vets. Left her there for an Xray, got a call to come up later to discuss, she's got cancer in her leg. 4 options, Have her leg amputated and that will give her "several months of pain relief", or "take a course of expensive, non guaranteed specialist treatment in Bristol" or "strap her up when you take her out and give her high strength pain kllers daily for when her leg disintegrates (soon)" or "have h
  16. One of my 2 lurchers met ferrets for the first time at 3 Years old the the other has grown up with them. Apart from the current law they would both kill a fox and both work rabbiting together with the ferts. They need to realise ASAP that the ferrret is an ally, not a quarry. It's down to the owner. Cheers, D
  17. Given the right conditions, if a dog can take 10, it's decent. 20, it's good. Any more it's a cracker but it can only catch whats there. IMO. Cheers, D.
  18. Went out to try my new Striker on Fri. night. Have my lamps normally straight to the battery but had an "home made" adapter to accept the cigar fitting on the Striker. Connection failed about as far away from the motor as possible. Not the lamp but my fault. Now going again Sun. Cheers, D.

Saw Will.F today, riding to hounds. Says he's not been on for a bit for various reasons.
  20. There is the view that terrier blood in a running dog tends to produce hard mouths. There's terrier blood in mine and he usually crunches the first catch then when he's calmed down the rest are usually fairly undamaged. Cheers, D.
  21. R.I.P.Lucy, died after doing what she loved. Regards, D.

  23. Thing about dividers is that if you are just nipping out for a quick, handy go you can put a ferret in one compartment and nets and stuff in the other side without getting your nets tangled up with ferts and no need to take a seperate net bag. Cheers, D.
