  1. The gamekeeper has caught up with the cubs now. I sure feel bad about that squirrel full of milk at the weekend now.
  2. There are several considerations to consider. First is, I have never been successful at asking a fox for its sex before shooting. Second, I don't like the reaction of farmers when I tell them they have to continue feeding cubs. Third, I don't have an issue with others shooting milky squirrels, rabbits or rats and not showing any consideration for any lactating young. Fourth, the cubs in this case most probably have pa and an aunt to fall back on. They are not reliant on milk by the end of April. An ancient proverb, "let he who is without blame cast the first stone". U.
  3. Had a call about a lamb taker. I hung around in the bitter cold wind away from the ewes and lambs then just on dark inched my way to the wood enclosed field. Bang on queue out she came, it was the ewes that told me she was in the field. She made her way towards me but at 100 yds went back in the woods. After I was convinced she was out the way I got in a darker spot and gave a good rabbit squeal. It was a few minutes later when I noticed the ewes looking at the wood again! This time by the time I shouldered the rifle she had come down to a nice 59 paces. Job done and home for a brew
  4. You can photos of my WMR in action in my hunting photos ?
  5. I wait until I see a black tail sticking out.
  6. I retired my hmr then bought a wmr and much preferred it being totally honest. 30gn vmax all the way imho, had about 1k of the 25gn ntx because I was getting them at 6 quid a box but down range grouping wasn't as good as either the 30 vmax, 30 jhp or the 33 remmy accutip. It's every bit a 150yd gun imho, it will go further once you learn its drops but past 125 ish it becomes a bodyshot rifle for me rather than a head popper like the hornet is. Interestingly, I've had less meat damage from 30 vmax rounds on body shots than I did the 30jhp and both give noticeably less damage than t
  7. It's for people who get tired of just mass slaughter.
  8. I made use of my vanguard, a Howa really. I reloaded and used h4350 and Hornady 100grn sp spire points for deer and Speer 70grn tnt on foxes.
  9. How about WMR? No ammo problems. Bit more bullet weight, bit better in a wind. Light bullets available. Mine has all but made my LR redundant. U.

  17. Us black powder users don't get noticed much here feltwad. They are mostly seduced by smokeless cartridge guns, so much so their vision to the road of true happiness is heavily fogged! ?
