  1. Sometimes a rangey dog comes into its own!
  2. I am an Ackley fan but actually not an uber high velocity fan. It tests a bullets integrity to much on the way and on the target sometimes! I have seen many a shallow wound! Remember, the harder you hit something the harder the force coming back! And if a mouse farts under the passing super fast bullet it's game over! No give me something under 3000 anyday ?
  3. It's looking like it's been a phantom Gutted and confused!
  4. Yeah, that's why a slug from a 45/70 just bounces off stuff ?
  5. End up overpopulated and scavaging a poor diet, get mange and spread disease. Surprised you had to ask!
  6. Couple of feller's on here. She is a cracking little dog. U.
  7. None yet, still eating, can express a little milk. She was due on Friday. U.
  8. Your no idiot buddy. I learnt years ago fox's ain't to difficult to kill with a shot gun provided they are side on when shot. Small shot does get across the rib cage easily and with a dense pattern compared to larger shot deflation of the lungs is quick. A couple to the head causes concussion even if the scull is not penetrated. I honestly don't recommend a forward facing shot over 25yds with any cartridge! I am going to tell anyone their choice of shot is wrong but for me I prefer a pattern and it's accumulated effects over two or three strikes from larger shot and magnum
  9. I run jimneys for ten years. Fantastic cars ?
  10. Tikka T3 are excellent rifles. I prefer a lighter set up myself mind but you certainly get the job done all the same. U.
  11. Well set up. What did you clobber them with? U.
  12. Been a funny day! After work collected my ugartachea sidelock ejector from a dealer. He had it to sell but it didn't so I got it back. It's always been difficult to shoot as it's way to tight choked. .729" bores with .685" and .700" constrictions. I set about them with a reamer and now they are .695" & .705". Still tight but within a normal range for the bores. Any way I was keen to try it so squeezed into my cartridge belt and also included two hullmax 34g #4. I love #4 shot for fox's. Well as soon as I got up the hill a pheasant was spreading the word! Sure enoug
  13. Well done on ending that vixens suffering. U.
  14. Nicely played you old bald coot. Other critters always give good pointers ? U.
  15. Spot on. Regards the other chap, it's not the calibre mate. So many variables can affect bullet performance. Rifling itself can cause issues with bullet performance. One rifle I had would turn premium game bullets into explosive varmint bullets! The same bullet in a different barrel behaved perfectly! U.
  16. Getting old, fat and bald mate, in fact looking more like my Grandad every day! And moving like him!! ?
  17. To hot to not be under shade! Be glad when autumn comes around. Well we saw five and got four, squirrels. One woodie too. Good old 22. U.
  18. She is a whippet cross of unknown X bedi sire. She is due to have pups next week. I covered her with a pedigree whippet. I know what you mean, she is immense fun, a devoted avid hunter and companion. The pups will be diluted on bedlington possibly but that's fine as whippets can be very similar I think. I just hope the hint of terrior gives them that determination. U.
  19. I use to sell rabbits and harvested them with air, 22, hornet and even (to use up cheap components) 308! This was commercial rabbiting. The game dealer want 50-100 rabbits a fortnight, all head shot and paid me well. The down loaded hornet and 308 were rare occasions and fun but the 22 got most but on a windy night the WMR made things alot easier for the rifleman and in all honesty there was less missed due to wind, wind outside, not in the cab, although at times that was bad! U.
  20. Me and Jess looking for a rabbit. U.
  21. 611! That could get expensive, ammo wise! There is an anshutz near me in a shop. Croton country store, Staffordshire. 01630 620226.
  22. Wise choice sir. No other rimfire currently gives you bullets from 25grn to 50grn. U.
  23. Ahhr, tis a lingering malady, they say the first thirty years are the worst!
  24. Just to update....the morphed pistol is now on opens and delegated to garden duties. It has taken three squirrels since in utter silence! No neighbour's were harmed in this pest control! U.
