  8. She is a game dog, I got her at about 2&1/2 with out a clue. Now she pins down anything I shoot up to fix but her thing is treeing squirrel. Any young fellow with catties would love this dog, she finds and marks a treed squirrel and gives voice to guide you in. She will climb the tree for if she can. https://youtu.be/pLLN_77brdc

  13. For a rifle yes, section 1 firearms licence. Mine are smooth bores so on section 2 shotgun licence. The shooting of a single projectile from a smoothbore is only restricted in law for loaded ammunition or cartridges. As a muzzleloader smoothbore does not use cartridges it is exempt from those restrictions. U.
  14. Sorry I don't frequent here much but just wanted to let folks know my little 18" Jess ( a whippet cross of unknownxbedlington) has been covered by a pedigree whippet. She is due towards the end of June. Between Newcastle under Lyme and market Drayton. Pictures can be seen in the shooting section on here or on Instagram, softfrizzen. Thanks all. U.
  15. Darren, get a patched ball rifle shooting and it is a very accurate rifle. I had a patched ball rifle years ago and rabbits and fox's fell to it, some beyond 100yds. New barrels need breaking in, often new barrels cut the patch which is no good. The correct lube for a given rifle is vital too. Some need a backing was or firewall to stop the patch being burnt. Look at the shot patch, any holes or tares and accuracy will be sub standard. If the patch looks like it could be used again then all is good, just got to mess with charge weights. Another thing is that the n
  16. Section two mate. No law stopping the use of a single ball either.
  17. ....get tired of lugging loads of kit? Moderators spoiling how a rifle handles. Shooting sticks. Heavy barrels. Huge scopes. Infrared gadgets and range finders? Clothing so you look like a moving tree! Get one of these and get back to your roots, enjoy your walk and learn to stalk again U.

  20. I got some .445" balls the other week and have been itching to try them in my smoothrifle. A .440" rolls down the barrel. The .445" need a push. The first rabbit was not very photogenic! I was only low by an inch plus but it was enough to wreck the front end! The back end was fine though. I switched to shot soon after satisfying myself the .445" ball was a good thing! The next bunny was a sitter at 25yards with fine shot. Check the size of gut!! Loading shot again soon after we were part of a dispute, a dispute between rabbits, one of which run out of a
  21. Is that true?? I understand no proof is needed for shortening a barrel, threading yes! To clean up that crown will not effect any current proofing. U. Well now that is interesting! I just phoned Birmingham proof house and asked if any barrel if shortened, without any other machining other than crowning needs to be reproofed and the lady said "yes"! And she said it has always been so !! U.

  23. Thanks. Points taken. Are the red dots more robust compared to cheap scopes?
