  1. Really interesting Ian, it just some interest to me as a possible pigeon gun for shooting in my quarry perm as the birds come in to roost as well as some real fun on the clays. I have not looked at the cost of cartridges as yet but this may be the perfect situation to get a little reloader, I have wanted an excuse for a while, something like a Lee Loadall as I cannot justify a Mec or for that matter afford one. Clay and Game, the reloading company is quite close to me (30mins) so getting supplies is easy and good advice as it has been many years since I used to load my own shells. Phil
  2. As a matter of interest SD, what sort of range were you shooting as I am very curious about the 28g of your pal's. I am going into the rfd today to have another look at the 28g he has on the rack. Phil
  3. I had the Mk2 in .22 as well although mine was a 16'' barrel. I filled it to 200bar and the best pellet by a country mile was Air Arms Field Heavy 18gr which were recommended to me by the Rapid forum and also a Rapid dealer in Lincoln and not to be confused with JSB Heavy 18gr as they didn't perform anywhere near as well. It ran at 28fpe and returned about 60 good shots per fill and extremely accurate. I have a mod made by some guys in aerospace for a Rapid fac which I bought from them and still have it if anyone is interested, very well engineered. Now go out and have a great tim
  4. Nice going lads. I have been looking at a Yilditz o/u 28 gauge today, what a nice little gun...................................................I am tempted. Phil
  5. A true love never really dies Mitch. ? Phil
  6. Particular not perticular, could not edit, too late............................? Phil
  7. Just to bring you all up to date, we have a good day planned shooting at East Yorkshire Shooting Ground at Beverley where Natalie will get some expert tution using smaller gauge guns along with Jimmy having a session at one of the top trap shooting grounds in the uk. I think we will get a nice lunch nearby as well. I am hoping it will be a memorable day for all of us but in perticular a special day for Natalie and Jimmy. Phil
  8. Are you taking some of each Mitch to establish which is best suited. When they become easily available in the uk, I will buy a sampler only but I don't think my Impact will be any good with it being one of the original barrel types but I do want to find out even if it is just for my own interest. I will be most interested in how you go on Mitch. Phil
  9. With experience I totally agree and like you, I can and do pick up a gun and simply know if the gun is a gun I would be happy with but I have been clay shooting for over 45 years and handling shotguns from the age of 12 and with that in mind I think you are in a similar position (perhaps not as old as this ole tart) so experience comes to the fore naturally. phil
  10. To be honest I do find a difference in balance & handling between Beretta / Perazzi and Browning / Miroku, now the point is that theree is nothing wrong with any only that the FEEL or balance / handling will suit one person but not the next when handling these guns. I think anyone buying a gun of this sort of cost should, as I said earlier, visit a clay ground where you can try a few guns despite the fact that it may be a number of miles to get there as £4k is a lot of money and you want to make the right choice. The sad reality is that if you are buying a new gun, it is unlikely t
  11. Okay, well we can have a good old chat in the next day or two but I can tell you, my local club has come up trumps but much further to travel. Anyway we can talk it through later Jimmy. Oh yes one other thing, I will get my hands on a 28 gauge for Nat to use as well as the .410 so a bit more flexibility. Phil
  12. Right me ole dukzzz, I have arranged in principle for Natalie and the rest of us to shoot at three different clay grounds with advantages and disadvantages with all of them so we now need to chat and see what you think to my ideas. I have sent Si a text and will chat with him as well. I will also look at the Shooting Clubs Directory to see what is nearer to you but Sean will know that better than me. Possibly out shooting tonight if it is not raining but will catch up at some point Jimmy. Phil
  13. Must admit that I am not joining BASC again and have decided that it was between the CPSA and C3. I am now not too sure about the CPSA because legal expenses are not covered for rifle situations and I spend more time live quarry shooting with rifles than shotguns, the jury is still out. Phil
  14. Very interesting and a good find, thank you. Phil
  15. PM sent. Are you wanting the standard length or the 'K' compact version. Phil
  16. A nice way to open your account with the perm. Phil
  17. I didn't go this morning but I heard the sound of a double barrel 8 bore belonging to a lad in the village, 4 shots, thats £20 on cartridges but not caught up with him to find out how he went on. I would be amazed if he has not opened his account on the geese and break the habit of a lifetime. Phil
  18. Trish is jealous of you getting so close to the deer Jimmy. Phil
  19. I bought a feww of these lofting hooks to place a deek on the gutter of barns which seem to work quite well. I also place a maggie on one of these hooks and place far away from the pigeon deeks. https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/172292189229?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&itemid=172292189229&targetid=938641681342&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9041085&poi=&campaignid=10195652606&mkgroupid=101938389037&rlsatarget=aud-381667280803:pla-938641681342&abcId=1145987&merchantid=7282624&gclid=Cj0KCQjwv7L6BRDxARIsAGj-
  20. Just come across these Javelin slugs (all .22 at present though) made by a company that Matt Dubber is involved with called Patriot and they have become distributer for SA of all FX products. It is shown on Airgun 101 with Matt giving a low down on the products and the company. https://www.airgun101shop.co.uk/collections/patriot-javelin-slugs https://www.airgun101.com/index.php/component/allvideoshare/video/big-news-introducing-patriot-outdoors-javelin-slugs?Itemid=307 Phil
  21. Don't worry Jimmy I will get the info on the grounds we spoke about over the next few days and sort a plan. I will also have a look nearer to your home as well mate. I think I will borrow a 28 gauge from the rfd so to have an alternative gun. Trish is coming as well so Natalie will not be the only female. Phil
  22. If.......IF I had some spare dosh, a Crown in .22 fac would be in my cabinet for sure. I am not a lover of long rifles at all as I find them out of balance BUT the Crown is so lightweight in the shoulder with a balance to die for, in my opinion, there is no other air rifle that can hold a candle to it in terms of handling when comparing to other long rifles. Just my opinion. Phil
  23. Well they say a picture is worth a thousand words and that photo says it all ................................................................................ Jimmy the hole hugger ?. So a 110 laminate complete with a hole in the stock or another 100 but with a hole in it. There is no denying it Jimmy, suits you sir !!! Phil
  24. You cannot trust the French, they hate us but god knows why unless they are p1ssed at us for saving their necks at WW2, bunch of sh1ts. Phil
