May your mother and father soon be married Mitch.........................................BARSTEWARD ? I really love the handling of the Wildcat and the weight advantage it has over the Impact and whilst I do love my Impact, it tends to be left in the cabinet. The Tikka is cracking but in all honesty, again it is not used much at all and my thought is to replace it with an 17hmr to offer a different aspect despite me not being a fan of the rifle however I am thinking there are a few perms where it could be an advantage. All just thoughts buzzing around in my head at present.

rifle with night vision recommendations
philpot replied to maddy1984's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
It would help Maddy if you could give us a budget so we can advise with that in mind. There are now quite a number of 'add-on' systems to work with a day scope plus electronic day/night scopes and of course a torch, it is all down to budget. You are not a million miles from me so if you wanted to come over here, will either take you to my dealer in Scunthorpe who has a 25mt indoor range where we can test a few guns / nv units as they have a number of good s/h guns and scopes in stock at all times or have a shoot on one of our perms with some of our gear. My buddy makes nv add-on units for ab -
Thank you Jimmy, I will let you know if I decide to travel up with the P35 or may just post it or via rfd, not sure what Mark Dempsey has in terms of any arrangements with rfds. It won't be until after Christmas now mate and I am debating whether to sell the Impact and possibly my Tikka .22 rimmy. Loads of thoughts going through my head at present. Must be an age thing........................BIG 70 on New Years Day for me, what a thought ? ? ? Phil

A great gesture Stav and whilst it will fit me, I have quite a few coats, good on yer mate. Phil
-
That thought had crossed my mind as well. ?

Oh Mark, I am so sorry to hear that mate, a difficult time for your family as a whole. Thinking about you mate. Phil
-
Where have you been hiding Mark.......................

Mark advised me that the tune and shroud/mod inc postage back is £135 which I think is a good deal and along with buying a few mags is on the cards once the Xmas is out of the way or at least all the pressies are sorted, then I will send it up or perhaps arrange a trip up to take it myself although I am not sure where he is located. Just never fell in love with mine no matter how hard I tried, not in the same league as the 35. Phil

Good to hear that and a warm welcome to the madhouse Lee. Phil

Looks like the 99 is top gun Jimmy. I confess that I thought the Verminator would easily win. Phil

I have been in touch with Mark Dempsey to establish cost of a tune and carbon shroud/mod so after Xmas it will be going to have Marks magic touch just to make a good little gun even better. Still loving it by the way. Phil

I am so pleased you got your baby back Jimmy. I know our Si has been well under the cosh with work and his shoulder issues otherwise he would have had it sorted for you mate but at least you have it now. Phil

I never had any success with H&N pellets either Mitch, just thought it was me. Phil

Sorry, that should have said I have very LITTLE knowledge of AA rifles.............................................? Phil
-
It is worth taking the mod off and testing even though you don't think that is to blame, a process of elimination. I cannot give you any advice on these guns as I have very knowledge of AA rifles. I am sure one of the other lads will be able to offer more help than I can BUT expect them to suggest testing without the mod. Phil

Cannot disagree with you Mitch, just a bit on the heavy side for walking around with by the time scope and nv is on, still fancy the green stock version though. Phil

Weihrauch pellets were made by H&N but for a while now have been made by JSB which I think are Exacts. Phil

Total bollocks or perhaps not.......................
philpot replied to philpot's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I did fancy a semi auto myself but the only one I had seen was the CZ and was advised that they needed some work before they were reliable, some company in Woombwell, Barnsley who did some kind of conversion to make them all good. I didn't take it any further. Phil -

If I am not using my beloved RWS subs, Hornady HV are my alternative ammo and at 1200fps they are not overly loud, and seem to hit with a wallop but the Stinger just seem to be a bit wild and as said, the grouping was not that great for a small target such as rabbit IMHO. I have noticed the latest batch of RWS seem to have less wax coating on them. Phil -
It is a member of this forum, Charlie Caller although he isnot as active so much nowadays.

rimfire CZ457 SYNTHETIC
philpot replied to Rimfire Rifles Freedom's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I believe the T1x is the rifle given out to the forestry commission staff for their pest control of which they ordered a large quantity and again this information was given to me by Forest Lodge Guns who I think did some of the distribution in our area. That was a while ago so I have had a fair number of gins since then so it is possible I may be mistaken but I don't think so. Phil -

Thank you guys, trust me I am going to try and prove the validity of my pal's statement because of past 'tall stories' but I though it worth asking. I have taken a number of hare and rabbits out to 100mt area but have no interest in pushing my RWS subs any further and if I was really wanting to get out further I would have an hmr which I do have a slot for but just not seen the need on our perms.
