  1. You bought a scope Jimmy but don't know what it is ........................................................ too old for Xmas drinking matey ? Phil
  2. Well if the cap fits Ben........................................oh looks like the ewe has your cap on matey. ? Phil
  3. Merry Christmas Stav, take care mate. Phil
  4. A very merry Christmas to you all, have a good one guys. Phil
  5. When I had serious issues with my right eye I switched to left handed and was surprised how easy it was, now after my surgery I am back right handed but can switch with no problem. I did try left handed at clay shooting one day...................... oh my god that was a disaster but strangely even with my eye problem I was able to continue shooting right handed with the shotgun. Phil
  6. The rfd is a mate of mine and he said the other two 007s units sold have not been returned or issues reported so far. Even on the NiteSite I normally use 3 or 4x mag which is plenty for me, sometimes in certain situations up to 7x but rarely.
  7. Now I should say that my buddy has two 008 units and has had the standard 007 so he knows them well and knew what to look for. From my garden we overlook fields so we were viewing the trees at 130mt, the foreground at approx 40mt and the pond area over my garden wall into the willow at 25mt. We tried the mag setting at 5x, 7x and 9x but only any good at 3x or 4x on the Varmint or in other words minimum mag. Yhe IR was tried in all positions but no better, we think this unit is faulty Mitch.
  8. Very true BUT I have changed my mind and whilst I like my NiteSite, I really wanted a modern add on like the 007 and whilst I cannot afford one yet, if the other 007 in the shop works, my pal will be buying it and will be saving up for one. Phil
  9. My buddy and I picked up the 007s yesterday, what a lovely little unit, first impression was good but that is where the compliments stop much to our joint disappointment as it was spot on in terms of being able to mount it on the scope whilst still able to keep your head in it's normal position. We tested the 007 on four scopes, Hawke Airmax compact, Hawke Varmint, Optisan CP and MTC Mamba Light. The Mamba was very tricky to get the adaptor collar over the knurled lip of the scope to the point that it just was not practical. On the other scopes, the image quality is really not good w
  10. I have two Gats, one for each hand when there are lots of squirrels around ................................................................................ ? A 19fpe .177 springer !!!! I think I could hit a garage door with that at 50mt, I bet that bugger jumps like hell Phil
  11. I have sent walshie a message Mitch so hopefully he will look into your inbox / pm issues. Phil
  12. Yes I am, I will give someone a note to advise them about your inbox Mitch.
  13. Sorry Mitch only just picked this up. It is a 500mm barrel, Superior STX liner, last time I check power output it was 960fps using Air Arms Field Heavy 18gr pellets. I have not checked chrony readings on slugs. I would be interested to see any difference between the slugs you now use and the ones you sent me so yes please Mitch. Have you still got me address as your message box is not working. Phil
  14. You sent me Zan 20 & 23gr in .22 which I assume they must have been 217 but they were not very good at all, the H&N 21gr in 217 were spot on. The Zan 25gr I found to be very good are from Ian so from what you say they must be 218 which is kind of strange. My Wildcat Mk3 (compact ) has a standard liner as I had not intended shooting slugs so didn't order a heavy duty liner. Phil
  15. There is no marking on the box for 217 or 218 so how the hell do you know what is inside. the box I have is from Blackwoods so no idea what Ian has.
  16. Have you got that the wrong way round as you said earlier the 217 for H&N not 218. My box of ZAN 25gr doesn't say anything about 217 / 218. Don't know why the pm didn't get through Mitch, I will try again. You have got a Bentley, just don't like saying so and showing how poor we are, or at least me................... ? Phil
  17. The Zan 25gr and H&N 217, 21gr but as you say the 218 were rubbish and so were the Zan 20 and 23 you kindly sent. I did pm you a few days ago Mitch. What is the difference between the 217 and 218, is it the diameter. Phil
  18. Ben.................................... I said not to fart about and get the Mk3, they are feckin superb, I love it so much. .22, 18gr JSB Heavy or Zan 25gr although I am still playing with the slugs but with pellets, it is nothing less than a joy to use. Phil
  19. I am picking one up next week............................................not for me however, it is for my buddy. In the US, the 007S has been on sale for some time BUT it seems that on some rifles, the bolt catches the battery although I assume the unit could be tilted to avoid that problem. I think having the more compact unit it a much better design and keeping the scope and head more or less in the same position. For certain it will be going on my Wildcat and Tikka for a few days before I let my pal get his hands on it. Phil
  20. A saving of 220grms is half a pound off the forend so pretty good compared to a standard tube, then you want to try a lightweight scope and you really will see the difference. Phil
  21. As Mitch said..............................................I thought your love affair with the Rapid was forever..........................................................have you been on the Xmas cheer last night not that I think you made a mistake, cracking gun, now on my third. Phil
  22. I tend to agree that using just one gun be a considerable advantage to successful hunting. There is an old saying, 'beware the shooter with only one gun'. If I stick with the Impact, I get into a flow which seems to work, switch to my rimmy and it just doesn't click with me and apart from close up stuff when I use the Snowpeak P35, I am only using the Wildcat fac at the moment and the results show my comfort with this gun. I really don't think it is the fact that you are sticking with the Rapid and it being better but you have great confidence with that gun which is more to the point

I must confess a good wood is one thing we don't have on any of our perms, we do have wooded areas each being no more than a few acres so the squirrel population is not so prolific and the days can be good with squirrel activity and other times, simply nothing but we have pheasant feeders out and large wood pigeon populations so there are always other quarry from the same hides.
