  1. Checking my pocket money while typing I know however I will have to wait but the good thing is to have a plan, or at least I think it is. Phil
  2. Yes sorry I should have said, the varmint is AO on a side wheel.
  3. Have you got one or had one Mitch because I know you spoke very highly of the product to me and on the forum. I really do like the idea of this and being able to swap from one gun to another as you would with any add-on unit but with a quality that appears to be much better than most, well not including your Pulsar of course. I have the Hawke Varmint 4-16 x 44, pretty common so I'm guessing it would be suitable. Phil
  4. I bought an add on via ebay, very well put together but if I am totally honest, I wish I had not bought it but at £200, it does the job and will have to do until I can buy a PROPER NV. As VM says, he can't stand TV screen systems and I understand now what he means, very tricky to get hand-to-eye co-ordination, doesn't feel natural although many people do use them. Judging by the info on the Ward D-700, it is quite small so perhaps it will fit on the scope and without having to move the scope forward, still be a comfortable system to use. Certainly looks a neat little unit. Phil
  5. a very comprehensive review Davy. I believe you have covered every point for me although I would love to know what difference the power setting has on point of aim but that is something I will find out if and when I get one. If I were not retired, I would just go and buy one because I do like the look of it but cash doesn't allow me to do that nowadays so it will be something I have to try to save for. Retirement is great but it does have a few disadvantages, that being one of them. The Ultra is without doubt a good rifle and well proven in the field with many followers but to be fair, many
  6. When I bought my HW, the RFD popped a sling stud on the gun replacing the stock bolt so no extra holes and I bought a Deben 6-9'' tilt bipod. Very pleased but had I seen some feed back on Airgun forum first with a number of guys using cheap ones from ebay AND being very happy with them, I would have saved the cash and tried one of those saving £50. I have however heard that some guys have had issues with using this type of stock stud causing accuracy problems although I have had no such problems. Phil
  7. Cheap too http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100m-Mini-Digital-Laser-Distance-Meter-Range-Finder-Measure-Diastimeter-I1-/181940841653?hash=item2a5c84ecb5:g:Bd0AAOSwf-VWU89K
  8. That would scare the hell out of me, 30% lighter, mine is VERY VERY light to start with. Phil
  9. I admire your drive to do such a big job and the best of luck with it. I might see you one day at Humberside Shooting Ground with your gun. Phil
  10. Just as a matter of interest and please forgive me for saying but even if you have the ability to produce such a gun, how will you fund the equipment to manufacture a gun or do you have some contacts who will allow you to use their equipment. I wish you well with your project if you are able to go ahead. What area of Humberside are you as a matter of interest. Phil
  11. I managed the same trick with a magpie this morning. Could have a bit of fun as I found they like to pop into the garden to take any'fat balls' that fall through the wire hanger so tomorrow I will break a couple up and wait................... Phil
  12. Okay this older old tart forgot to post the junction...........................see that is what happens when you get older. J31, A57 https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Killamarsh,+Sheffield,+Derbyshire+S21+2JU/@53.3294576,-1.3518945,13z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x48799e8e26e79c0b:0xb61faf216609be58 I think that should do it.,,,,,,old tart signing off Phil
  13. M1 Sheffield as stated you old tart https://www.customstock.co.uk/ There is also a 33mt indoor range a couple of junctions away on the M1 so a double visit could be in order. http://southyorkshireshootingclub.co.uk/ Phil
  14. I believe that they welcome you to pop in to their Sheffield workshop so if the distance is not too great, a visit would be on the cards. They are only about 10mins from the M1. Phil
  15. On my HW100KT I have a Hawke Varmint 4-16x44 which is actually 50mm outside diameter. I used standard Hawke mounts but recently fitted high mounts to take an add-on NV unit which gives me 15mm clearance from the barrel. In fact I didn't need the high mounts so will be switching back to standard but cant give you the gap but would have thought standard mounts would be fine.Looking at mine, I recon you will get a 3-5mm clearance approx. Phil
  16. The RM8 looks very good value for money...............................but it stops there. I had one, front end heavy after you have walked with it for ten mins and serious issues with power dropping. There have been quite a few guys with the same problem. Mine started on 11.4ft/lb dropping to 9.6 ish, can't remember exactly. Airtec advised that he had 4 RM8 guns in with the same problem and was designing a new regulator as the reg fitted was rubbish and would just keep breaking down. My option was to replace the air bottle with a BSA R10 bottle and reduce the barrel length as it was too long
  17. I saw an HW at the range the other week with a stunning CS Custom stock, the grain was a sheer delight and a sporter to boot Mac so you would have loved it mate. Phil
  18. It is possible that the wad strayed and hit the thrush, more than enough clout to knock out a small bird. Just a freek accident. Phil
  19. Nice read Mac, it's great to get the kids/grandkids involved and watch them get better and better up to the point when you NEED to leave them at home, getting too good. Phil
  20. They don't spend the money to make a good rifle great because they sell too many rifles to people who are not members of any forum so are not likely to know that modifications can make such a difference. Just as an example, I know 4 people who own airguns and would never think of joining a forum.........thhe perfect customer... Phil
  21. I saw the shroud Si Pittaway had fitted by Ratworks, very very quiet. To be honest it was the shot count that always put me off the Ultra and I did have a chat with Phil at Ratworks to build a gun for me. Never actually actually shot one but picked them up many times in the shop, feel spot on. Phil
