  1. I am already tied up in a clay shoot comp that weekend but perhaps in August as I have never been to an airgun comp, what is the worst that can happen...........come last......so what. Have a great weekend Davy, I hope it all goes well. I'm with you Mitch, no facebook or anything like, if it is not on the forums, I won't know about it, Phil
  2. To be honest, I simply have not had the time or the weather/winds have been an issue. Hoping to get to the outdoor range next week but I want to get hold of some JSB Heavy to try as I have heard a few people say they work really well in the HW100 in .177 I am impressed with the bisley mags and never really gave them much consideration in the past, could be a big mistake on my part. I find it amazing how each gun of the same make and model can give such different results from another similar gun. Phil
  3. Perhaps it is worth trying some 4.52 Mark but the 4.51 are nothing short of garbage in my barrel. Phil
  4. The JSB Exacts in the test according to the label on the back of the tin are 4.53. I will have to measure them.
  5. Many years ago, i used to shoot rats on a fishing pond perm and a mistake on my part nearly lost me the perm. I shot one rat that went into the pond and as the light faded I forgot to get it out, the next visit, the owner had a go because of a floating dead rat so stick a long handled landing net in the car so you can get any of the dead ones out of the water. Litter pickers are great for picking up any rat and perfect for those in the water if you can reach. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LITTER-PICK-UP-EXTRA-LONG-ARM-REACHING-EXTENSION-TOOL-GRABBER-EASY-REACH-PICKER-/181489116836?hash=item2a4
  6. I will be interested to see the outcome of your work Mac. So angry, I gave away 2 BSA Meteors and a ASI Sniper that I was given years ago and been left in the loft for many years, they would have been a good project. You got me thinking here Mac....................I want an old springer to work on. Phil
  7. Yes you are right Jonnie, just not quite as clean a hole as some but a 5p coin covers all but AA Field and RWS Super Field as I have just checked and found out. Phil
  8. As far back as man has been on this earth, men are 'hunter gatherers' by definition although through evolution we have changed to take on other roles both in our work but also in our pursuits, it is just that some of us still remain in part that original group. I had my first gun, a GAT, air pistol at the tender age of about 11 or 12, very quickly moving on to air rifles and shotguns and so I follow in my grandfather's footsteps as he was a gamekeeper. At the age of 16, I was buzzing around Derbyshire on my scooter with a gun slung on my back eager to get on to feeding pigeons or to bag a
  9. I first started using AA Fields from the gun being new but after a couple of tins found I just didn't get the consistency I expected, I bought a tin of JSB Exact and straight away groups were tighter. I am not qualified to state that cleaning the barrel and leading up with new pellet really makes much difference as have heard so many differences in opinion that I don't know what to believe. On my little tests and ones done at shorter range in the garden do not show me the need to clean and lead up but again things may change at longer range. Whatever the result, I am enjoying the process a
  10. Yes I agree Mitch and looking forward to finding out. The Bisley Mags really surprised me though, did not expect such a good group. It may not show on the photo but they were the best group. The target spot is 8mm by the way. Phil
  11. The local range has reopened after some revamping and whilst it is only 25mt, it serves as a start until some of these winds drop then I will do the same at ranges up to 50mt (just for testing) at Humberside Shooting ground. The groups are all full mag (14shots) with two more mags to clear the barrel prior to these groups. The air cylinder was filled to 200bar on each group so no difference between groups in terms of air pressure and all shots are bench rested. I enjoyed the test and look forward to the next test. Phil
  12. I can only offer my view on this matter by saying that it would be a backward step, buy the multi shot converter. I won't bother with all the details but I was very pleased to get rid of my RM8,front end heavy with power issues.....................don't go there. Phil
  13. You have made a lovely job of that Mac. Phil
  14. Sorry to back to normality for a moment but..... I spoke to a friend of mine who has 3 Rapids all .20 (I think) and told him about the fact that Rez said the pellets can fall out when shooting upwards into the trees but it would appear that this is not found on any of his guns so is it the mag that is totally different on the HM1000. A bit out of my pension price range otherwise it would be right up there at the top of my list. Phil
  15. I really envy your rat perm and nice shooting as well. Phil
  16. That looks really good. How do you find the shroud, quiet ? and what capacity air cylinder have you gone for. Phil
  17. I just found that out, only away for 10 days and all changes.
  18. Your best bet is to speak to BASC to clarify if they can be regarded as vermin in this situation. I believe that geese can be treated as vermin at times when crop damage is being done but like all things that involve the law, shooting and British wildlife, it is best to get direction from those that know. I think you will have to get in writing from the golf club that they have asked for the birds to be removed and the reason why. Phil
  19. Is it for little hunter or grandad or to share, whichever it looks really good and an interesting concept of materials used. Phil
  20. Interesting how he says how much lighter it is compared to the HW100, anyone know what the weight is of the 110. Phil
  21. Little hunter is doing a great job there Mac, taking after grandad me thinks...... 15mts is the max I can shoot in the garden, it is just a cottage with a cottage garden. A pity I am not in my last house, it had a half acre garden and it felt like I had moved into a postage stamp when I first moved here but an expensive barn conversion, triple garage, caravan parking area and a huge garden is not what I wanted for my retirement (no mortgage) although I do miss cutting the grass on my garden tractor........................big kid really, my friend used to call it 'Phil's Tonka toy'.
