  1. cracking pup that. looks like he wants for nowt. hope he comes good for you
  2. av got a load of pictures but I have to keep cropping them down so they aren't to big,, there may be an option to make the pics smaller in your camera. great post and nice dogs
  3. some absolute belters there folks food for thought. i have decided on a bitch to make life easy. i rarely breed my lurchers and this thread shows why. there is so much quality out there. so no need. thanks for the replies and pm's
  4. cant see why someone would cross a terrier with a gundog.
  5. i'm considering getting a new lurcher/running dog. to take over where my last one left off. it will mainly be for mooching / rabbiting but i cant abide soft dogs so would need a little oomph. also i'm looking for something a little faster than the old lad. i was thinking of a dog with saluki in its make up what do you folks think would suit. would be run on some rough ground as well as pasture cheers.
  6. two dogs from a litter in cumbria have landed in pet homes near to me. very tidy looking dogs to be fair . racey sorts.
  7. looks like you and the dogs had a ball
  8. well ive had some decent russells over the years. but none of them could match my old plummer Sassy on top.. she has a very decent nose and plenty of drive. seems to have the knack of putting stuff out that the others either couldnt or wouldnt. my crossbred russell/plummer is coming along very similar i like all terriers but have settled with this breed . i reckon the 95% remark was mede about all plummers in general and this could be cut right down with a little homework. as with all breeds there is a lot of second rate stock bred . but by sourcing the right stuff you stand a good chance
  9. I've never owned a plummer or seen one work so can't comment from personal experience, but they're bound to be exactly the same as all other breeds and types of dog, insofar as some will be better than others. If you're tarring the breed as a whole with the same brush based on one individual you've owned, yours is bound to be a very biased view. ive owned a few and its true some are better than others. however if you source good working stock they are generally exellent bushing dogs .
  10. nice one. you done well to get those pics . hats off to ya
  11. leave it . and buy yourself a pup without a hernia. simples
  12. How to the Plummers fair training wise ? they are highly intellegent.basically the same as any terrier to train.
  13. it the plummer.get a work bred plummer and you wont go far wrong
  14. got the kids and grandkids heading this way. just time to nip out for a fry up before the onslaught . have a good day dads and grandads
  15. crackin litter. all credit to you and your bitch.
  16. i'm sure earthdogs can make good allrounders but to me that is placing a purpose bred dog in the wrong environment and a waste. if i wanted an allrounder i would go for a russell or plummer or maybe a crossbred. simply becouse over the years ive found these to be the best for allround work. i do favour the plummer for what i do . all my plummers naturally retreive
  17. ive always had a lurcher with my terriers but have recently been without a lurcher and i really miss having one around. however i can manage without one. i would be lost without a terrier by my side so this will never happen. its all down to where your loyalties are. mine are with the wee dogs.
  18. Have you considered a Plummer cross pup? I know of a litter and its proper bred and priced - pm me? i would check this out
  19. i got ss gear lasted my old lurcher a lifetime. gave it to my nephew when ozzy died i reckon it will see his pup out as well
  20. vixen and cub took a couple of days ago. not the best pic but you can see the size of the cub
  21. yea they are small. looks like ive time for one or two more visits yet.
  22. still struggling to get a good clear image. only two cubs have shown. dropped some scraps near and the vixen showed with one cub. but the other vixen spotted me and gave the game away by boltin straight past em not technically good but gives an impression of size .
