It wasn't that they were too expensive they didn't exist. Used to be crawling around on hands and knees put your hat on the ground then put your ear to the ground listening for a bump. Or lining another ferret surprising used to get sort of a sixth sense for if. A good dog with a nose was so handy in them circumstances. Think the finders are a god send even if you know that the ferret is still in the same burrow and not sneaked off down the hedge. Cheers Arry

I'm not calling you a liar mate I'm no spring chicken as well in fact I'm 70 in a few weeks and had ferrets since I was twelve and my father had them before I had my own. My grand father was a small holder and trapper. That list is what can happen doesn't mean it will. When they are in season they stop producing white blood cells and there for more prone to infections. It's not me saying it, its people far more educated that me. Now you go your way and I'll go mine. I will do what ever I think is right for my Ferrets and thats it. Atb. Cheers Arry Cheers Arry

It wasn't planed I had two of the same litter and they were a lot bigger. She does struggle with a stubborn one big if she is getting kicked back I put my big Jill in then it's come out or dying. That little one and my big Jill. Cheers Arry

I've always kept jills mate and I have three if I mated them I could end up with a load of ferrets I don't want so it's the Jab. I have heard of using a cotton bud but sexually interfering with my ferrets don't think I'll go there. Not sure if it's a old wives tale to be honest.. Cheers Arry

I've done both mate but I my opinion by the time they come out of season if left they are a bit out of salts when you need them to start a new season hunting. I changed Vets about three years ago and I always ask for the same Lady Vet and she is a small animal specialist and very good, so you have to speak as you find. A Ferret left in season is more susceptible too infections. Copied: An unmated jill is sometimes described as having hyperoestrogenism. The symptoms are: Constant oestrus behaviour – typically a swollen vulva and reduced appetite Anaemia – insufficie

Back on the subject of Jill jabs. I have mine done every year and we take my mates in at the same time to keep the cost down. We have 3 ferrets each but one of his never came into season this year, so my mate said I'll ask the vet while we are there. I replied don't do that they will charge us consultation he agreed. So what does he do? After the ferrets are brought back (had to wait outside because of Covid) and we are chatting to the Vet about the Ferret she has just done my mate asks about the one that never came in season. Result another £18.26 on the bill for small animal consolation, wou

Brought back memories there boys. Can remember walking down the Main Street in my small Town at dusk with the shot gun under my arm walk in the Oxford inn put the gun behind the bar and play cards all night. Then walk home half cut nobody gave a shit, sell a rabbit for a pint in the bar lol, good days. Have a bloody swat team on you now if you had a gun out of a bag. Mind have been stopped few times and moaned at for not have the gun in three pieces. Or made to empty a bag of Rabbits out on the ground and arguing with a copper that don't know the difference between a rabbit and a Hare.

And Cock Robin who grabs a suet pellet and feeds the female. here's the Fledgling begging. Cock Robbin come into the green house when I'm in there as if to say were the pellets then. Cheers Arry

Had my Jills done for years and years never had a problem except a bald batch on two Jills by a wanker vet who injected into the skin instead of under the skin. Get the other Jill to the vet mate. Hope all goes well for the other one mate. Cheers Arry
