Just one caveat ; that referee also officiates EPL games, so it could quite easily have been a Premier League game or a FA Cup game. Surely his standards should be the same no matter what competition it is ? Anyhow, as you say, we won so justice was done Cheers.

I agree but they we not officiating at the highest level, it was only a FA Cup game that just happened to involve 2 EPL clubs and was shown live on BBC1 with millions watching. Could they have been so incompetent or was it a ploy to affirm the importance of VAR? I makes you think, but I believe it was really, really shit officiating from people who are not fit for purpose, and even if VAR had been in place, the same calibre of incompetent people would have been involved. Newcastle won, not bothered.

If the PGMOL (?) have any integrity they will look at all the incidents in this game and suspend or sack the referee and possibly the linesman. Appalling officiating, Jesus Christ, Villa's goal offside and a free kick given for a foul a yard inside the 18 yard box. I am not one for conspiracy theories but the FA must have tried to teach us all a lesson? Lesson not learned, a good free flowing game, all goals celebrated without the doubt of checks, and Newcastle won. Happy days!
