Does it ? At what range was you hit at ..

As kids we used to think it was funny to piss off local farmers and they were all to happy to unload it from shotguns at us but we soon learnt to stay out of range. I personally never took a hit but have had it hit/land on me, never penetrated mind. I was there when mates really had it (I’m guessing it was rock salt) I’d say from less than 20 yards and they were scriking like a baby but I’m going on memory from over 35 years ago and they still have the scars and we still laugh about it.

Everyone says this but I remember my area when I was a kid had a huge car theft and burglary problem plus shoplifting gangs, rose tinted spectacles and halcyon days, lol.

I grew up not far away and car theft was the entry level/apprenticeship. I always found the Ghia interia thing quite poetic justice. Steal a posh Ford, strip the interior, sell it to a lad who could not afford the top spec but was posh (had a job and legally owned a car), wait until he pays someone to install it, then steal it back and sell again. The gift that kept on giving.

Then ram raiding happened. Hard to imagine now, you could drive a Transit and Land Rover into a shopping mall and straight through Curries window. Zero mechanical protection to stop it happening.  Not me, I was never brave enough or stupid enough, but good craic 🙂

Myself and cousin used to  rip about on my TY 80 on the local farm.,I was probably 12/13 yr old..same as you....looking for a chase😁 one time the farmer was stood in the middle of the path, Infront of the hole we cut in his wire fencing🙈 I rode the bike straight at him...as I went past, he let a barrel off 😬...my cousin Carl took the brunt of it and almost pulled me off the bike with him🤣I never seen the cnut move so fast...got up off the floor holding his arse ran  past me on the trials bike🤣 got to my Nan's place and he had to lay there while my Nana, mother auntie picked the rock salt out of his legs, arsecheeks and back with tweezers lol...then sprayed him in iodine 😁 then too top it off  both of us had  the leather belt for upsetting Farmer Green half🤣👍

Rock salt at 20yards probably wouldn't even penetrate a piece of paper .. never mind going through clothing to leave a scar .

I did say it was 35 years ago and I was 8. Maybe it was closer. Things look bigger when you’re small  Regardless, they have the scars and there was nothing much in there to be pulled out at the time.

The thought of my kids growing up in a similar slum would make me shudder,it wasn’t character building,it was just plain shit, but can’t turn the clock back so just made sure my kids had happy carefree childhoods in decent areas.

Personally I think rock salt out of a shotgun is a load of shite ..

Why would you risk a loss of licence a GBH charge or even an attempted murder charge by firing a bit of salt out a gun that can't penetrate clothing at 20 yards FFS .

😂😂 Old wives tale of you ask me and people believe it

Oh the good ole times, I had a set of Ford keys about 25 keys on a ring, had one particular worn key that would start most fords. Had a cortina one eve that started a treat, I drove it out and up the road on the way to my yard it sounded sweet and flew along, it was a 2.3 v6 lump quite rare even in the 90s .

You can buy rocksalt cartridges stateside.

https://www.ammoman.com/blog/rock-salt-shotgun-shells/

Used for less than lethal force, this light weight shot material brings in the heavy for close range home...

Remember an incident over 40 years ago when I was on strike and it came on top one night wile after pheasants a torch was put on my mate from only 15 foot away in which i told him to run the torch then came on me with my back to the keeper he then shot me in the arm which I stumbled over but managed to get up and get away meeting up with my mate further down the wood my arm and shoulder was on and what ever was in the cartridge it had gone through a wax proof coat but had only just broke skin and it looked like small cigarette burns i tend to think it was peppercorn tbh.

Yea and most of the time the rock salt turns to dust and you get very little penetration that they say wouldn't be enough to break skin .. yet there's loads of people saying there scared from being hit with them 🤔.
