Folk that disparage dales rabbits have never ran them,i caught more in the Dales because there was more to catch,i caught less in other places because there was far less to run.I had an higher percentage catch rate away from the dales.A good lamper and his,or her lurcher,knew how to adapt and catch,the rest knew how to make excuses.

I'm on no defensive mate I catch as many rabbits 70 miles away from the dales as I do in the dales like I have once again today. for some reason you seem to have a problem with lads that work their dogs on the Dales even tho you've never been there.

Dales rabbits are far easier than those on arable land fact I've ran all over the country on different perms and up the dales an easy steady night is 40/50+. 100+ if you wanna stay out a while.

 With rabbiting,..you can only catch what is there to catch...

Its a big old country when you start travelling around, and it takes a versatile jukel to consistently , 'attend to business', on unfamiliar  ground..

I stay close to home now, and just ferret the long hedgerow warrens, in the Southern counties.

A whippet sized cur does just right, especially when getting down and dirty, in the ditch bottoms...

Hardly the stuff of legend, but perfectly adequate for the task in hand...
