Oldest dog on thl??

Recommended Posts

Had to have my old Russell pts 3 weeks shy of 16, kidneys going but he was still pretty active, started to have the odd fit and as we we were both out during the day thought it was the kindest thing, shame they get old, my 3 dogs now are 12, 10 and 8, new blood needed soon.

Cheers, D.

An old bulldog i was close to is still kicking about in Cyprus aged 14 i saw him a few weeks ago and realised its a miracle really as he had hardly any teeth since the age of about 3.....must admit his breath was none too clever 😀.....never heard many dogs live to 18 though fair play.

Had the old girl put to sleep today :cray:

Although I’ve known for a few weeks it was coming it’s still knocked me about more than I thought it would, had her so long she became part of the furniture! Didn’t quite get to 18 but her back legs were going and she was struggling to get up out her bed so she’s at peace now......was a brilliant mooching dog and one that I’ve had many happy miles out and about with.....RIP misty

it's the only bad thing about keeping dogs. Old fella once told me he knew many hard nuts ten pints a night men and pub brawlers, but they cried when the Whippet died.

Iv met a few guys in me time I’d class as hard fcukers, for whatever reason or another, but one of if not the hardest guy I have ever met was a mate of a mate of mine, guy was never into dogs or even hunting ot the countryside or nowt.  But one day his youngest brother got s whippet x pup an lost intrest an this guy started taking it jogging. Ended up doing a bit rabbiting with the dog for the dogs sake an enjoyed it, had the wee dog for about 14 year in end an then it died an that guy had a melt down, don’t even all about the dog, hunting or nowt these days, wouldn’t ever dream of owning another dog, Cos he simply don’t wanna lose a best mate every decade, that’s what he told us the one an only time Iv ever heard him mention that dog since it died

dogs an humane have a funny relationship I think, lots of other animals out there ye can connect with, but a hunting dog, can’t be touched 👍

This crazy bint is now just coming up 15, we never thought she would make five.

Recently we've had the conversation a few times, bad days her back legs give out, regularly incontinence, deaf, and sights going.......

Then like an hour ago she's literally tearing round the field in pitch dark chasing a fox, comes back into the house like a charging rhino! Throwing herself from one sofa to the next, and tearing round the house like a loony 🙄

So if she doesn't break her neck she gets to escape the needle .

Gawd I will miss the crazy bint when her time comes, even though she's an arsehole.
