Well. To be honest we are a close community. There isn’t much that goes on that doesn’t get talked about. The one one thing that we all agree on is the colour of the eyes preshot. The other is that the person who pulled the trigger knew exactly what he/she was doing. They did not want to be caught. At this time I don’t know if an arrest has been made but by gum I hope it has. The fact that a calibre has been mentioned must have some relevance. Jok

    Dead

I am hearing about a shooting close to my home. This may have been last Wednesday. A local farmer shot dead by ‘a poacher’ through the heart. It is believed shot by a 308 round. The guy was, apparently calving one of his cows which was mistaken for a fox. Jok.

    6 Nations.

I’ll admit to my heart in my mouth but resisted the temptation, much to wife’s surprise, shouting at the telly. Jok.

    6 Nations.

Hope you guys had a good afternoon watching. I did. Jok.
  5. I think we all need a bit of a clue. Jok.
  6. Well no pics. But an idea I’ve had for a while. I’m doing venison faggots. I’ve had such a lot lately that decided to give them a go. Basically same recipe as normal but using minced venison and minced belly pork. The only offal will be venison kidney. Same herbs and breadcrumbs. The lads down the pub are salivating. Jok.

    monkey

Looks familiar. Isn’t he running for the presidency? Jok.
  8. John. Unless things have dramatically changed since I shot the foreshores, if you can access without trespass then by Royal decree you are allowed to shoot the foreshore. Bear in mind that ingress and egress both apply. On one foreshore we waded down a creek to gain access. On the subject of pigeon shooting, you are on a shooting forum where most folks guard their permissions tightly and I doubt any help will be freely given. For saying that I wish you well. Jok.
  9. 8 and 10. Think they are even. Jok.
  10. Mate you sound like a part timer ffs. You should get in my company and believe me there would be incidents. I normally stay reasonably quiet in the corner thanks to previous training, talk when I need to say something meaningful when required and then just blow when some berk says the wrong thing. It has got me into one or two scrapes. Bottom line, tell them to fck off or Jok will be down . happy days. Jok.
  11. My offering to the lads down the local. Game pies including venison, mallard, pheasant and partridge with all the herbs and spices. As it’s my 70 th shortly I’ll include a reasonable amount of hooch to go with them. The lovely one has booked us all in to holiday chalets in Ashbourne so a really happy start to the New Year.
  12. You can have the best gear available but if you are short on common sense it all goes out the window. Jok.
  13. Had a long spell cutting down trees and logging in general. It was a winter thing whilst the marquees were quiet. Dropped an ash over a bit of a ditch on our shoot but unfortunately was by myself. Long story short, trapped in said ditch under the tree. No phone and no assistance. Was quite an experience getting out of that one. Jok.
  14. I will say that these guys and I’m saying a lot of them are sorely missed on this forum because of the interest they promote with subjects that we might not have any knowledge about. Jok.
  15. I would love this chap to come back with posts. He was very interesting and always a good read. Jok.
  16. I wonder if Skipton still has the huge numbers? That moor was alive. You could look over a wall, clap your hands and the place would move. Best was 124 in or on 2 mornings. The were good days. Jok.
  17. A book by Charles Ritz on grayling fishing springs to mind. The only grayling I caught was on the Tweed at Melrose. Jok.
  18. Jok and all his wish the same to all. Jok.

    Sciatica

Go my route. New hip. Shoulder keyhole surgery. Wrist surgery. Prostate problems with cameras going up everywhere. You’ll soon forget the sciatica pain. Just an observation mind. Jok.
  20. Wow! Didn’t know there were that many still living. I haven’t seen a rabbit, even roadkill, in our area for quite a while. Nice one. Jok.
  21. Yes in a way. They very large white flakes and don’t eat like other predators imo. Jok.
  22. Almost as good as Zander my friends. A used to be friend, brought some monkfish from Birmingham market but didn’t let us on how long it had been in his van. My wife and I very, very ill. I’m still waiting on, including Paulus, my friends to catch me possibly the best fish I have ever had, the Zander. Looking forward to cooking someone a carte Blanche dinner. Jok.
  23. It’ll be an Over Finch or Khan I reckon. Jok
  24. Well guys. I’m having a go at a venison dish inside a suet pastry. Got a bottle of Porter and am going to give it a go. Got this memory of both Gran and Mum steaming suet puddings so willing. Thing is, the lovely one bought us an M & S dinner based on beef which triggered my thoughts. Will see. Jok.
  25. You are a good un Paul. I’m going to ask a few questions at Snarestone to see what is going on in the tunnel. Jok.
