  1. Well Undreground they are defo going somewhere. I can come to woodhouse towards dinner tomorrow. Got a 10 am call them free all day. Are you about and if so what time, full address and a phone would be handy. Jok.
  2. I feel I need to go further. Thinking about it where does haggis come into the dish? Head can't get round that. Chef or not.
  3. Know what. The more I look at that lovely meal, the last thing I'd wan't to do is eat it. Where do you start and why spoil a piece of art .
  4. Flipping Eck kid. We barely have a kitchen. Nice result but you need to give us a clue about all these chef terms. We work with stew, pie, pate if being posh and the like. However a nice recipe for rabbit fricosse would be nice. Up to it pal?
  5. Fiercely. I' d happily have any one of them but to be fair, one stands out. Magic.
  6. Yes pal. In fact you will never find a stripped hazel at any game fair in the land. The beauty is in the colour and the longevity of the bark. When varnished it will last forever.
  7. Know what Devon Fighter. Blackthorn and holly are without doubt the best sticks. HOWEVER. I have just seen the most unusual 'stick'. A bulls dick. Fck me what a thing. Good 39 inch which puts us all to shame.
  8. Well son. I will look for one on your behalf. I've a really nice staff, about 15 years old, which I am doing a mouse in a hole as the handle. Should be a bit good when finished. To me, Holly is incredible . Beautiful when polished up and the grain patterns are incredible.
  9. When I think of all the hazel I've used as bean sticks, it makes me boil. Some of them, straight as a die, ending up warped and fckd. My dad used to bend the Rams horns and make beautiful handles onto hazel, which, in the Borders, wasn't too plentiful. He went a long way to get the sticks (in them days).
  10. Strange but must be voiced. I've never heard of anyone stripping hazel. I thought the beauty was in the bark when varnished?? Can only think of stripped holly and blackthorn. Beautiful when finished nice.
  11. Nope. Never knew that. But I think they can have 3 per season. Am I correct?
  12. Eh up pal. You know they are. Just thinking about you. Got some magic faggots ready. You and the other team member should enjoy.
  13. Better still. If you fancy another black eye or two I'll meet you down there.
  14. Ah Ha. Lived there 14 years my friend and did a fair bit. Got a few chases but they ain't up to much down there. We travelled from Derbyshire cause I know the area so well. I'll give you a few hints if you've a mind to ask me.
  15. FAO LaraCroft. A guy thing. LOL. Just whang some in. Seems to work. Cheese is cheese and to be honest , whether you put in a lot or a little, it still tastes bloody great.
  16. The more I look, that ain't hazel. Anyone care to comment?
  17. Oh and by the way. My signature was the Jay feathers so if you see any you'll know who made it.
  18. Sorry to say the pheasant beak got busted but you get the idea. I' ve made a lot of these, mainly as gifts to permissions which has helped a bit. I try to find unusual roots or growths and go from there. I have one on the go at mom which will hopefully be a fieldmouse done in holly. Takes a bit of time though?
  19. Sorry Cushty. Yes I was talking to you. That just didn't look like hazel to me but if you did the coppice then who am I to argue. Anyway, nice stick. I'm going to try and post a couple of my efforts, both natural root. See how we go.
  20. pesky1972. Without these ranters there wouldn't be a forum. Get back to work you idle git. Any road on, what work is there up there anyway LOL
  21. Oh blooming heck KES2 that was a bit harsh. We all know the rules. Just got to go with the flow man.
  22. Well, well, well. Down the allotment this afternoon to get some leeks for my faggots. Terryd will know what I'm on about. I walked on the garden in ordinary shoes and no clatch at all. I must be one of the luckiest gardeners in Britain. Even the weeds are being kind. None. All my muck distributed and all the shite from last years failures forgotten about. Come on Spring let's be having you. Ordered 100 Kelsie and a sit load of other bits and bobs.
  23. And just for the record, cause I know my mates are reading this, why the fck do I do all the gutting? Am I the only sod with a decent knife? I am the only prick who walks in the pub smelling like a sewer AND the first to buy the beers . LOL.They know I love it really.
