  1. Horses for courses Devon. Some like one or other, some work both. I bet if you asked 10 ferret men for their thoughts you' get 10 different answers. There are so many logical answers to the question and a hell of a lot more illogical. Best work with both and form your own conclusions. We work with 2 of each by the way.
  2. R Com Suro 20. What a terrific, automatic little machine this. Easy to work with and given the right product (eggs) great high percentage hatch. Another thing. Won't lose any value.
  3. To Underground. Told you these fellas were going to get a good life. All three are proving their worth and been right royally looked after. I get the black eyed white back for our team and he's having a ball.
  4. Was that the bit of a dig you mentioned?
  5. Well, as you can see from the above, I've had a go at this elusive box. It all started with the post about anyone making bow back boxes in the Leeds area. The only idea of concept was from the box he ended up buying which I thought looked very heavy. This was not a criticism merely an observation. So to the workshop with a hasty scribble. I kept thinking about that comment ' if a job's worth doing it's worth doing it right'. So a frame, made from a light hardwood, glued and screwed. Used 4mm plywood for the carcass which was made easier using my table saw. Remembered to leave the ends extra lo
  6. Working down in the wood department yesterday and I heard the incessant crooning of the male blackbird reassuring his/her young. Yep, full nest and yet no leaf cover on the hawthorn. Good luck to the little beggars. It's official. Spring is here.
  7. Know what I'd do in a heartbeat. Find out how much the gas guys charged cause that would have been a contract, and half it. You keep the conies, everybody happy. Dad will see the good side of you as well. Happy days.
  8. Have you ever seen a horse jump a five bar gate. Cumbria, Scottish Borders, same old.
  9. Devon. You didn't answer my last little requestno problem with neighbours cause really haven't any.
  10. Pic of the coloured eggs for Devon Fighter. They do look good. Found out the other day that one of my cream legbar point of lay pullers is a cockerel. Mighty handsome bird.
  11. Thanks Rake Aboot. Gunk. Another from the past. You must be as old as me pal lol.
  12. OTC. Got an old gin trap on my hearth says Plumb Pob on plate and Rd No 701488 on the brass plate lock. Anything?
  13. Thank you simple man. Jizer eh? Haven't heard that in a lot of years. Was thinking about truck wash. Anyone disagree?
  14. Ther's a fella near Derby could help you out. I guess you' have to google air supplies and cylinder testing Derby.
  15. Just a little clue as to your whereabouts might help getting you a day out.I've had one or two visiting of late
  16. Grandest thing ever came to me by accident. Guy came to fetch a ferret and brought a cat carrier with him. You know the one, plastic shell, wire front and a carry handle. Cutting a long story short, he left with a bleeding finger and no cat carrier. It's great. Nice and light and you can take a single box with you instead of a mollocking great triple.
  17. Thanks Gaz. See you Frid/Sat. As you've probably guessed there is a belt loop on the back and it is treated with Nilwax. Should be ok for someone. I'm thinking blade of about 3.1/2" - 4". Jok.
  18. Got a pic of today's egg produce. Will post it later. Shows how different them coloured eggs make. Jok.
  19. Well Griff, I finished the sheath. My Boker fits snug as a bug.. Sewing ain't gonna win no rosettes but not bad for a first. As I said in the PM it's yours for the sake of a return address. Might give your lad some ideas on the rest of the wife's handbags or indeed them high boots.mmm. Anyway, if you want just pm me. I'm looking forward to your further adventures with the knives among other things. Jok.
  20. Oh matethis has got me going in a new direction. I've plenty venison and other bits and bobs so reckon it's a go. Not only terry but Gaz will be watching what happens. Good post and what a lovely result. Jok.
  21. Might be worth sourcing some of the breeds that lay green/ blue shelled eggs. They look great with the standard brown and white eggs and generally the birds have nice plumage. Cream leg bar is one to look for. Good luck Matty.
