  1. Oh hell. That was messy then. I'm obsessive when it comes to weeds. Going back to the newcomers, they don't understand about the root system and the need to clear the ground. They look at my garden and model theirs on the surface result. As you know, in about2 weeks the green things will be back with a vengeance and they can't understand why. I've tried explaining but at the end of the day you can't go on being a know it all so just let them get on with it.
  2. Funny you should say that. I do all the paths for that very reason. However, some of the newcomers are not so willing to let me use commercial weed killer, preferring to use olde world methods, like beer in bottles etc. Fck that. Roundup the lot. Yes it's tidy and that is the way I like it. Quite a few come round looking and asking questions so not all bad. In about 2/3 weeks I'll put the same pics on again and what a lovely sight it usually is.
  3. l Well Terryd. Managed a few early pics of the allotment. Potatoes are just showing through the ridges. Peas are through. Celery looking like I don't know cause never done it before. The Nixon bed in the foreground all ready for the Kelsie but still not got the plants. Paths looking clean so all in all pretty chuffed. Jok.
  4. Bhawk. Nice one pal. Hope that helps the fella. Jok.
  5. Have a look on Countryside pursuits and diy section on this forum and you'll see the box and comments. (Jok' poacher box). If your friend is at all interested then pm me as I have also a bow back double box, lightweight, available. Both are new. Thks. Jok. Good luck with the young uns.
  6. There probably is son but maybe not in your area. You'll never not get help from this forum. I wonder if your friend, as just starting, might be interested in my little poachers box? My little Jill has just been covered so no help for a while there.
  7. Got to be back to Gruffalo Griff I reckon
  8. Sky's gone black over Bill's mothers. Not good for the morning.
  9. Made the most important delivery to the allotment today. 12 gas canisters for the morning brew and bacon butties. Even bought a new stove. Whistling kettle. Schools out on volume of beer. Oh I do love that place.
  10. Knew you'd be back before long. Lol. I like that result.
  11. Ah ha. Kind of see what you are saying. I think the wording is misleading. I was looking at your pics whilst maki g the comment. At least that is what I think you mean. Could be well wrong. Again.
  12. Am I missing something. I don't do crowns. Only dressed birds. I must be thick I reckon.
  13. Oh dear! Well if it needs coming back to me, so be it. She can't have done much.
  14. Gone quiet. Did it arrive and did your dad like? Hope not disappointed. Jok.
  15. Strange you should say that but when you look through the narratives, many are taken in the wrong context. What I think is what I say but by gum it causes some grief. That aside, hopefully that last spat didn't do any damage as most of us held off planting for a couple of weeks. And by the way, come and dig mine anytime. Jok.
  16. You all live in cloud cuckoo landI get frost every morning at about 6.30. Ah well. Keep trying. Lol.
  17. Tiercel. Why is that? Is there an alternative that carrots like? Reason am asking. Father used to muck everything on the farm and from a hazy past he grew everything. I do remember some granules he put in potato trenches but other than that it was a boot up the arse and hard work.(Nitram I think).
  18. Blooming heck. Leave it alone. It's great seeing someone out there doing the business and sharing that little bit with us. Keep at it and all your other bits and bobs.
  19. DF. Got my brewer saving all his spent hops, some cracking leaf mould, 4 year old muck and a bag of compost. Should make a good trench filler for the tap roots.
  20. I'm having a go with plants this year (parsnip) the plugs are about 40mm and healthy. First time. Also put in 5 celery plants which a friend gave me. Haven't a clue other than to ridge them to blanch the stems. Now't ventured now't gained. Another first for me, bought some fleece which I've put over the carrot seed drills to hopefully stop the fly. Onion plants coming this week.
