  1. DF. Got my brewer saving all his spent hops, some cracking leaf mould, 4 year old muck and a bag of compost. Should make a good trench filler for the tap roots.
  2. I'm having a go with plants this year (parsnip) the plugs are about 40mm and healthy. First time. Also put in 5 celery plants which a friend gave me. Haven't a clue other than to ridge them to blanch the stems. Now't ventured now't gained. Another first for me, bought some fleece which I've put over the carrot seed drills to hopefully stop the fly. Onion plants coming this week.
  3. You'll notice that most plaques are cut diagonally. If crosscut, they will split as in I he inner rings will hold together but the outer rings will reduce through normal drying. When cut on the angle they hold together better and in the case of, for example, cherry, take on a much better finish because the bark stays intact.
  4. Fully dressed and looking good. I doubt crowns would sell.
  5. Nice comments. I wasn't trying to re invent the wheelThe point I asked was lightweight box. Moxy, from what I have heard you have made more than a few. Fair play. I was only jesting about the Cayenne.
  6. Week or two early for the carrot and parsnip ;in my opinion) bit cold.
  7. Absolutely brilliant. Chuffed for you pal. Good sized fish as well. Jok.
  8. King. I wouldn't have thought it, but yes you are correct. Handy. Hob one side, two Jill's other and the box in the middle. Not a bad idea really. I wonder how many guys have a lightweight like this??
  9. Oh. Drive a Porsche Cayenne myself so am a bit ignorant lol.
  10. Just great when someone has a go. Too heavy to take in the field which is why I've gone lightweight. Beech?
  11. Navek, yes mate. And that is why it is worth doing the prep. Bear in mind he sells for £3.50 .
  12. Well son. I have a Jill coupled with a hob as we speak. I'm doing a fishing trip in Rye sometime in the year. If I have a result then you are welcome. Both are white and very, very small. I know it doesn't answer your question but it's a thought. Jok.
  13. Sorry ratattack. Not stealing thread. Just conversation. Hope in some way it helps you. Jok.
  14. £1.50 a pigeon. £2.50 a rabbit. £1.50 per lb venison. Do the math and it's quite good.
  15. Good afternoon chicken man. What do you think of the double box? I've just finished waxing and the strap is on so looking good, in my humble opinion.
  16. Over finch?? Never heard that one.
  17. Love it. Man after me own heart. Jok.
  18. All that winter energy gone and admittedly the freezer is looking good but what do we get from the countryside in the next 6 months ?
  19. Afternoon Rabid. Tell you what friend. Our local butcher has everything from me. Main reason is that I know where it comes from and do all the cutting and prep myself. Anything that shouldn't be going on the counter is binned (ferrets). What he pays me is astonishing and obviously greatly appreciated. My kitty is looking quite good. Still looking forward to the fishing but got to watch my dates. The marquee season has really got going and I'm head honcho so need to be about when the shit prevails.
  20. Talk about dejavu. Went in the pub last night and a guy is giving away 100 ft of 4 inch plastic pipe. Needless to say it's now up the allotment. You can get anything if you go to the pub
  21. Thank you Moxy. Well thanks to all of you really.. I really enjoy the making. I've a workshop to die for with the chickens running round my feet and 3 ferret pens stinking like stinking things, a greenhouse needing attention now the weather has picked up, lawns need sorting, her indoors pleading about the decorating, mot on the car due, insurance on the Larry imminent, what the hell about a few boxes
