If price is not a consideration then the HW100 and an air bottle would be my recommendation.

Probably end up with 9 men on the field.

Back To Basics - Iron Sights On An Air Pistol

Any hunting requires a Permis de Chasse. To get that involves sitting a theory exam, attending a practical course and joining a local chasse group. For archery I understand that you also have to do another course. -

Definitely a wobble on today. This little pistol is addictive and I reckon that the speed of shooting and re-loading means that my arm becomes fatigued after a couple of 5 shot rounds. I'm going to have to steady up. I've been trying different trigger adjustments. Unfortunately there is a gnat's cock from a firm pull to a definite second stage with light release. The former gives a pull to the right. Once I get this aspect right I'm sure that I'll be able to get 2cm groups at 10 metres. It is shooting slightly high which seems to be a common fault with this type of gun. The solution is to -
There is a post on it here: http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/187215-digging-in-france/ In the area I live there is no interest in anything other than deer, boar and game birds. The chasse won't control foxes or badgers for the local farmers. They aren't interested. As far as I know you would need to pass the Permis de Chasse theory exam, the practical tests and register with a local Chasse. Then you would need to ask advice from the head of the chasse what, when and where you could operate. Sometimes hunting can only be done as part of an organised group. If you are serious

Barrel is spotless. The pistol came from a target shooting enthusiast who also likes a bit of retro. I know what you mean abut the delay in acquiring the target and shooting. At the moment its more like a yoga class than shooting. Breathing and relaxing is what it is all about. -

For any air rifle over 20 Joules and powder burners, rifles and shotguns, you need a permit. That entails either being a member of a shooting club - clays or target for example, or passing the Permis de Chasse exam and joining a local chasseurs group. -

Yes, pellets can be delivered here. The price of postage and the risk of damage in transit isn't worth it. I'll wait until October and get my friend to pick some up from Ramsbottoms when he drives over to visit family. -

Sage words indeed. I loosened the second stage and gave it a try. Not at a target as it was howling it down and blowing a gale so I just shot up the garden to get the feel of the trigger's release point. Much better, but a tad too far so I backed it off a little and it now seems just right. Just enough resistance on the second stage to rest my finger on and not too much to cause undue pressure when fired. Busy day tomorrow, but should get some more quality time me before the weekend. On another note I went past a gunshop today, but this being France it was closed as many shops are on a Mon -
I didn't realise that you could throw them that far?

Yep, when my cp1 co2 gas is running out my shots go right. My trigger finger has more influence on the longer barrel time. I think I might reduce the trigger weight a little. It is quite firm at the moment. -

I use mine for shooting rats in cage traps, which is why I mentioned it... Yes, I understand the reasoning. But to be fair anything other than a Gat gun will suffice for the caged rats at point blank range and I fancied a bit of garden or indoor target shooting and plinking with the firm's gun. The problem I had with all the CO2 guns was the inconsistency of power output. The QS79 was better due to the oversized and expensive gas bottle, the QS78 had two capsules and was OK unless you left it any length of time and / or used it for four or five quick shots (rook squabbing or ratt -
Back To Basics - Iron Sights On An Air Pistol

I managed a few shots this morning before going out on mole patrol. Five shots, left handed, 8 metres........ The lower shot was the last one of the five and spoiled the grouping. Then I moved back to 10 metres and fired another five at the same target. All over the place so I must have been doing something different that time. Coypu Hunter; I have had a few CO2 rifles in the past: 1077, QS78 & QS79 and I've given them a good try, but they don't suit me or what I want to use the gun for. Thanks to all for the advice so far. -

I'm shooting one handed. Initially I tried the two handed approach, but as Underdog has suggested it is better held loosely. And, holding it one handed means the pistol is held slightly further away and I can see the rear sight better. When it is held two handed my eyes can't properly focus on it. -
I needed an air pistol to carry around in the van to dispatch rats caught in live trap cages. Sometimes the rats are reluctant to go into the trap boxes, but for whatever reason they are less wary of the wire cage traps. Once in they need killing and an a full sized air rifle is too big to wield. And of course I wanted something to plink with too I looked around on the Free-ads sites and ended up with a vintage HW70, probably about 40 years old, complete with Bakelite handle and iron sights, but as tight as a duck's arris and it came from a shooting enthusiast. Picked it up yeste

That sums it up for me. Sterling was very poor and the position he took up meant that Rose couldn't do what Walker was doing on the other wing. A couple of genuine missed chances that should have been put away and quite a few unlucky moments where through balls were just a fraction too far for the recipient to connect with.

Surprised that nobody has mentioned Payet's performance last night. Even without the goal he was man of the match by a country mile and that goal. I doubt that we'll see any better.

Here in France you only pay to register a car you've bought. We paid around €250 - €280 when we bought our vehicles then that's it. You don't pay any annual road tax.

That's one way to rack your post count up

I received a similar reply from my ONCFS enquiry. The list of nuisibles varies from department to department. Starlings are on ours (16) but only near to orchards and grain stores. Pigeons de ville are also listed in the Charente. From my point of view not being a PdC holder it doesn't change anything. I will continue to 'deter' magpies using my air rifle once I get it back from my neighbour. There were three young ones and their mother raiding our strawberries this evening. Ooh, you're such a bad boy. My HW97K, HW85 and now BSA Lightning XL Tactical are only ever used for target

I queried my local ONCFS on this. Their reply is below. Essentially, you need a Permis de Chasse to shoot the bird species listed, although Starlings are not on my local general licence.
