It could be argued that the Russell type is one the oldest. One of the 1st "types" to be registered as a "breed" when the Kennel Club was formed, but then they were called Fox Terriers. If we were to be pedantic then they really should be white.

True, and good luck to him breeding for work not show or the pet market. A man who had great knowledge and working experience of a type of Russell that I was once lucky enough to own burst my bubble one day when he said "there's all sorts in them son".

Not every white bodied working terrier is a Russell but, call me old fashioned, I could never regard a working terrier that is not white as a Russell.

When people say "we" need to do this or that but they really mean "you" need to do it, not "we".

Deciding to nip into Greggs on the way to work for a pasty but driving past because the queues out the door as everyone wants coffee and half the time the staff don't seem sure of how to work the machines properly. Why can't they just buy a pie and put the kettle on when they get to graft?

Just my personal memories. There was a period, late 70's through to early 90's when men were kicking their heals with nothing better to do got themselves terriers or lurchers or racing dogs, even pigeons or big leeks and onions. People who had no real interest in or knowledge of these things that had once been valued and carefully bred. When they got bored or found work or the misses got involved everything was for sale or free to good home.

Those types were often available "free to good home" around here at one time and I think many people missed a trick by not taking advantage of that. I had one myself of a very similar stamp/height/weight that cost me £10 as a young adult dog. He took the full spectrum of game. He wasn't a prolific catcher of stuff bigger than a rabbit as he was not targeted on them but caught most things that we came across. Better than many bigger lurchers that I've seen particularly taking into consideration that he was bred and initially only schooled in chasing an inanimate object being mechanically propel

In the days when people used to let their pet dogs roam the streets seen a few examples of pups from terrier sized bitches end up like labradors or black GSDs.

Open to interpretation these days, even being predominantly white no longer seems to be a requirement. Doesn't stop them selling for £1000 +.

Anyway, to end this for me. I do not give a shit who wears a poppy and who does not. It should not be a political thing, that was my only gripe. Don't know if it is true but apparently it was an Irishman who came up with the idea of remembering falling comrades on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Sir Percy Fitzpartick, who also allegedly loved a game terrier.

Haven't watched Ememrdale Farm since those "badger baiters " beat up Seth the gamekeeper. That's when the helicopters stared to appear in friendly skies above an once green an pleasant land.

People are just taking the piss and may pretend that they never have Corrie on the TV in their house, but ...the next it is on you will all be looking to see who is wearing poppies. All will have them, not just the psychopath.

My post isn't about Coronation Street, more about I notice daft things. Everyone on the tele is wearing poppies for some reason (11th of November is when they should be worn) on live shows but that episode of Coronation Street would have been filmed a few weeks ago. The writers and producers put a poppy on the most hated character for a reason, their own reasons.

I watch very little TV apart from sport but that thing tonight struck me as very strange re Corrie.

Got home several hours ago. Did jobs that needed to be done then turned the tele on to watch Southampton v Newcastle. 2-0. No complaints. But, before the game started I watched Coronation Street. Something that struck me was that the only one character that was wearing a poppy was the hated Jeff person. I just found it very strange that the nice characters had no poppies but the evil c##t did.

For what reason do you think that she should not be bred from? She is 9" but was she not produced from similar sized parents?

That's not too bad mate. Wouldn't comply with current regs but most domestic installations don't. Seen far worse.

Sockets with integral RCBOs are on the market and easily fitted, isolate the supply, remove the old socket and replace with new and put a plug on the flex is probably the easiest way to do it. I will leave my input at that.
